Q Tell us about your serial, Doli Saja ke. This is a story about a girl Anupama whom nobody loves because when she was born, her mother died and her father holds her responsible for it. Her father gets married again and she is ill-treated by her step-mother too — like a servant in the house though she belongs to a rich family. On the other hand, Anupama is a sweet lovable girl. There comes a guy in her life (played by Amit Sareen), who gives her immense happiness and eventually marries her. It's nice playing Anupama, as it's a great learning experience for me. Aroonaji knows how to extract the best from her actors and I am happy that I got to work with her. Q Why is it delayed for so long? I really do not know. We were looking for the right slot. Kittu was supposed to go off air but now it has got an extension. Then it was slotted for this month but due to the World Cup even that has been postponed. I don't know when it will be telecast. Q How was it working with Aroona Irani? Aroonaji always makes women-oriented serials. But this one is dealt with differently. Aroonaji is not only a director but also an actor herself, so she knows what an actor can deliver. She doesn't look at just completing her episodes but also considers the performance delivered by the actors at every shot. Q Is anchoring a stop-gap arrangement since Doli… hasn't taken off yet? Nothing of that sort, I enjoy it. While anchoring I can be Barkha, I do not have to be portraying some character. I really like being myself. I will continue to anchor. It takes three hours for an episode and I do 12 episodes in a month. So I shoot only for around 12 days a month. The rest of the days are for Doli Saja Ke. Q Interested in films? I do not like running behind producers requesting them to give me a role in films. I'm passionate about acting and if something good comes by in films, I might do it. Some actors dream of making it to films, but I'm happy with television. For modelling, you have to give auditions. I do not have time for that. Moreover I can only do commercials on television. My height is not fit for the ramp but there are many actors who walk the ramp on special occasions. I don't mind doing that. http://www.deccan.com/TV%20Guide/TV%20GuideDescription.asp#' No%20idea%20when%20show%20will%20air' |
