"Short skirts really compliment my well toned legsl"
"I prefer simplicity with elegance" - Barkha BishtBootylicious Barkha Bisht did a successful stint in her debut Balaji show, Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi on MTV where she had to don a very glam avatar. But in real life she prefers a very sedate fashion style, "I don't like anything over the top and garish. I prefer simplicity with elegance. I don't follow trends blindly; rather I'd create my own niche," articulates Barkha.
This Punjabi kudi, who has also acted in Kkavyanjali and Kassauti Zindagi Kay, bagged her first lead role in the coveted Rajashri Production's Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam (Star Plus) where she got to play three different reincarnations." I loved the costumes of this show as I got to experiment with various fashion genres ethnic (rural ghagra cholis), western (skirts and tops) and Indo-western (kurta with denims).
Barkha who is currently doing Doli Saja Ke (Sahara One) and Popkorn Newz (Zoom) just cannot have enough of the eternal Indian outfit, the saree. "I think Indian women look the sexiest and glamorous when they adorn those nine yards. My choice of fabrics would be crepe and chiffon as they give a real nice fall. As far as the blouse goes, I dig the halter, spaghetti or string variety, "she says. Unlike most modern girls, Barkha loves to self-drape her saree, for the style which it gives can never be replaced by pre-stitched ones.
"If you can carry wild stuff with lan, then sky is the limit" - Barkha with her eye candy Indraneil SenguptaIf one bumps into Barkha at a happening page 3 bash, you will mostly spot her in a pair of jeans and a flashy backless top or a sexy short red number. She adds, "I also love short skirts as they really compliment my well toned legs!"
Barkha does not believe that it's essential to flash skin to look fashionable, "Comfort shouldn't rule vanity! If you don't like to show off your legs, then don't wear minis otherwise you'll end up looking silly. On the other hand, if you can carry wild stuff with lan, then sky is the limit".
Like most women, Barkha too adores bags. While on shoots, she carries huge jute bags, which can house a lot of stuff, and for a party it's a nice small sequenced piece adorned with stones. "Coming to jewellery, I if wear long earrings then my neck goes bare, as I don't want to look over dressed".
Barkha is very meticulous when it comes to repeating her outfits for dos as she knows, if you end up wearing the same outfit twice, you'll invite trouble. "Hence, I take special care to ensure that I don't use the same outfit for at least three to four months. What has really helped though is a mix and match - clubbing an old top with a new bottom and vice-a-versa, and voila, you look different!"
