And our telly stars too gear up for the festival - some do a guest appearance, some give a captivating performance, some judge the dancing sessions, while some simply chill with their friends! Riya V. Anandwala quizzes some television celebs about what excites them when it comes to this nine nights fete, what childhood memories does it fetch and where they'll be performing this year! | Shweta Gulati Relevance: Dandiya is a very colourful festival. Memories: College days were a lot of fun during this occasion. In the initial two years of graduation we did a lot of dressing up - the right outfit and the right accessories! But after a while we used the liberty of the extended deadline to go clubbing, as we were not allowed to party that frequently. And it was the only way out. This year: I'll be visiting a few cities in India to perform as well as to judge. | | Juhi Parmar Relevance:I am not too much into this festival. The major reason being I feel very claustrophobic on those crowded grounds. Memories: NA This year: I do Navratri stage shows on and off. This year I will pack my bags for Surat, Kanpur and Indore. | | Mansi Parekh Relevance: The most exciting thing of this festive season is the different forms of Dandiya one can enjoy - be it rain Dandiya, disco Dandiya….it adds to a lot of fun. Memories: Navratri has been an integral part of me since childhood. I have danced so much, that I can't retrieve a particular memory. This year: I will be going for a bash to just one city - Aurangabad. | | Kanchi Kaul Relevance: Navratri has always been my hot fave! That's because I love the music and clothes (ghagra choli). Memories: As a child too I used to love grooving to the dandiya tunes. During college my friends and I used to dance all the nine nights. This year: I will be going to U.S for two weeks and I am certainly very excited about it! | | Manninee Misra Relevance: Though I am not too much into this festival, it has been a part of me. Memories: I studied in Delhi so there was no hoo-ha about this festival there, but once I remember I had been to a Gujarati Society Dandiya program with my gujju friends and had a blast. This year: For the last two years I have been going to U.S to perform, and this time too I intend to go there for a week. | |
