PRANKSTER NO.1 KAUN?
Bakhtyaar Irani says Tanaaz fell in love with him after he played a prank on her! BT gets TV stars to talk about the practical jokes they've played on others or fallen prey to

I remember this particular incident when Abhay Vakil, who was cast opposite me in Palkhi had hidden my cell phone. I was so worried throughout the day because I have all my numbers stored in the cell, I don't keep any diary. I was wondering who must have done it. At the end of the day, I had given up hope of finding my lost cell, when Abhay and the others came to my make-up room to hand me the cell. I didn't know whether to laugh at them or to hit them for their prank!

I have played so many pranks on my co-actors. I remember we were shooting for Celebrity Fame Gurukul and I had met Tanaaz for the first time there. I told her she might be a good singer at home but here, we're all there to participate in a competition. I was so mean to her that she actually started crying! Around the same time, I put red colour on a handkerchief and pretended to cough in it. Smita Bansal thought I was coughing up blood! At the sets of Arranged Marriage, I often run up to Swetta Keswani when she's eating and tell her that the director is calling her. Swetta leaves immediately and I gobble up the amazing raita that her mom packs for her!

I was shooting for a music video some fourand-a-half years ago, and we were in the middle of a romantic shot. The scene went on and the director never said cut! The scene continued, everybody just tiptoed from the set, came back after a long time, while we went on with the scene. Later, when we turned around, we could see that everyone was just staring at us and having such a laugh!

There was this one time that I was shooting for a Pakistani series in Dubai and my co-actor had to mouth three and a half pages of dialogues. I co-ordinated with my director and we decided to play a prank on her. The camera started to roll when she started saying her dialogues. She was facing the camera and my back was to her. I kept giving her all the necessary reactions to her dialogues. At the end of the scene we told her there was no reel in the camera! Thankfully, she laughed.

I'm not the kind who can pull a prank on someone. So, in my case, the pranks are pulled on me. Even then, I end up laughing along with the others, so, the whole idea of a prank kind of falls flat. One of my close friends from my group often tries this on me — he would pretend to be one of my fans and would call me and change his voice. Initially, I would fall for it, but towards the end of the conversation, I would realise that it's him and end up laughing with him.

I hate being made a bakra out of. I'm terrible at taking jokes. I remember this one time when I was shooting and one of my close friends told me about my closest friend having met with an accident. I freaked out when I heard about it. And when I finally reached the spot, they were all standing there laughing at me. When I got to know it was a prank, I broke down, I almost slapped my friend for doing something like that. I was so upset with my friend who pulled the prank on me, I didn't speak to him for one month, he had to beg me to speak to him. So, now, they play it safe with me, lest they want to be beaten and bruised!!

Manav Gohil and I often trouble Pallavi Kulkarni on the sets of Vaidehi. We know that if Pallavi starts laughing, she can't control her laughter. So, we crack a joke before a scene and see her struggle with it. While we keep a straight face throughout the scene, she struggles to get her lines right. Till date, I have managed to get away while Manav is often caught in the act. But I have a feeling that soon they are going to turn the tide on me. I am now being very careful.
