I'd like to be the sort of friend that
you all have been to me;
I'd like to be the help that
you've been always glad to be;
I'd like to do the big things and
the splendid things for all of you,
To brush the gray from out your skies
and leave them only clear blue;
I'm wishing at this time that I
could but repay
A portion of the gladness that
you all've strewn along my way;
And if I have one wish today here,
this only would it be:
I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you all have been to me.
A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend.
