When the Rain Gods frowned!

The sudden downpour in Mumbai on 4 July and the continuing rain on the next day dampened the spirits of many of the stars that light up your screen everyday. Some of them reached their sets and had to trudge back travelling through the flooded streets, some never got out of their homes as they were forewarned, others missed out on the action as they were not even in the city. Those affected shrugged off the inconvenience that the downpour caused and went about their day to day lives doing things that ordinary people like you and me do.

Tellychakkar.com's Kavita Shyam spoke to some of the TV stars to get a first hand account of their experiences on the day it poured and the day after.

Sai hung out at Hussain's house with Shakti

For Sai Deodhar who is playing Debonita in Kasautii Zindagi Kay monsoons are an awesome time if she is with her folks but when they are not around her worry quotient rises as she feels anxious about their safety.

"Our shoots got cancelled so Shakti, Hussain, Tina and myself we had a blast together as we got wet in the rain," says the petite lass. "We went to Hussain's new house and played cards besides watching DVDs and ordered lunch."

Following that she says that all of them considered going to watch Krrish, but surprisingly the tickets were not available. Adds Sai: "Today I finished my shoot in the first half of the day and I am out with my mother for lunch (at Pop Tates in Andheri) but I am anxious for Shakti as he is shooting in Madh Island."

Barkha Bisht the pretty Radha of Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam caught the brunt of the heavy rains. She was held up in a few water logged patches

Bakha 'Radha' Bisht had no power in her house; she went gymming

in suburban Mumbai while returning from work.
"We were shooting at Saki Naka and it was pouring heavily so we had to cancel our shoot in the afternoon. When I got back there was no electricity in the house so I did nothing but waited for the rains to stop post which I went to Inorbit Mall with my friends for coffee. We had an off today so I hit the gym also I plan to catch Superman 3 in the evening."

Rohit Roy who was busy shooting for Viraasat and had to catch an early flight to Delhi was also caught up in Juhu

Rohit Roy drove through the water logged roads

as the roads were not travel worthy. He missed his flight and instead spent the day with his daughter.

"I was shooting for Viraasat in Goregaon and since it's a low lying area we had to move out of the place as soon as we could.," says Rohit. "Karishma Tanna and Rajan Shahi (director of Viraasat) left their cars behind and got into my car and I drove them through the water."

He finally, managed to catch his flight to Delhi on 5 July, though it was delayed, "Finally I am in Delhi shooting for Delhi Heights," he says, adding in a complaining voice "The weather is so hot here."

Chaitanya Chaudhary who is off work for the past one week after returning from Delhi (where he was shooting for Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhen Se) has been enjoying

Chetainya Chaudhary got into the sports mode and played volley ball

the rains, catching up with his friends in the city.

"I've been at home for the past one week," says the good looking stud. "Yesterday I met up with eight of my friends and played volleyball with them after which I had bhajiyas and enjoyed the weather."

Chaudhary reveals he made it a point to park both his cars (a Skoda and a Indica) at a friends place as his building had got flooded last year. He adds: "Today I was at the gym and in the evening I plan to go for Superman at Cinemax but tomorrow I get back to work (shooting for Ankhiyon Ke Jharoken Se)."

Sachin Sharma spent his day cooking for a friend and chilled out at the

latter's place. He says: "Shooting got cancelled yesterday so I went to my friend's place. I decided to rustle up some food for him since he had no food in his house. Because of the rains, it wasn't a good idea to get food from outside. I can do a bit of cooking so I made aloo paranthas for him. I had an off today and I plan to go to Inorbit to watch Superman 3. I start shooting from tomorrow and hope it's not a bad day for me. Also, if it rains continuously for days I can't plan ahead."

Moulli Ganguli was plain lucky as shooting got cancelled in advance and she could spend two days at home in peace.

Moulli Ganguli does some spiritual book reading

"Shooting was cancelled for us (the Hats Off production Resham Dunk) and I was at home curled up with two non-fiction books. One was Unbelievable Truth by Gordon Smith and the other book was on Yoga," she says. "Since the weather was terrific I also ended up having lots of bhajiyas in the evening and my folks kept calling me from Kolkatta enquiring about my safety.

Later she went to Andheri's Lokhanwala market to buy vegetables and wanted to go to her friend Kamalika's (Gayatri chachi of Kyunki) house as her daughter was unwelll. But she turned back as the water levels rose. She says: "The roads were water logged so I felt scared tomove out any further."
