< name=frm ="return ShowWarning()" =http://mail.yahoo.com/config/login?/site_search/sitesearch1.asp method=post target=_blank> | </> Tell us about your new serial.... It's called 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam, Ek Radha Ek Shyam'. It's a love story and is based on reincarnation. I'm playing two characters in it. My present character, Radha, belongs to 2006. She's a simple middle-class girl and is a middle-class student. She wants to become a doctor as she wants to give medical aid to people in the village who are deprived of medical aid. She's also a responsible girl and takes care of her brother and father. She doesn't have a mother. She is high in values and believes in love. She believes that there's someone who truly loves her but is extremely wary of the present-day guys. What about your other character? She's Shyama, a typical village girl who belongs to the 60's. She's very talkative, naughty, very pure and innocent. She's very sweet, lovable and completely in love with her childhood lover, Kishen. Both of them love each other but cannot express it. It's a very pure sort of love, different from what we see today. They have their share of fights but they still love each other immensely. His present day reincarnation is Shyam. Do you fall in love with each other again? We do over a period of time. Radha and Shyam are extremely different people with different lifestyles but they still fall in love and are together. What attracts the two of you to each other? In our previous births, it was childhood love. We've grown up together and always been drawn towards each other. In the present, Shyam falls in love with her first. He gets flashes of his past and gets the feeling that he's supposed to be with Radha. He tries to convince me about it all the time but I don't believe him as he's a flirt. He hails from a rich business family. But eventually there will be situations that lead me to fall in love with him. What attracted you to the show? It's a Rajshri production and was to be aired on Star Plus. These are the first two things that I liked. This is also my first serial where I play the lead, that too a title role. An opportunity to play two different characters in one show provides a bigger platform to showcase my acting potential. It's also an extremely different show, something not seen on television before. Being a daily show, does it leave you with time to do any other serial? Not really. At times it gets quite hectic because the village portions are shot outdoors. We go to Wai or Panchgani for it. How about films? I haven't really looked at it. I'm happy with television. It's such a big industry today. But acting is a passion and the medium doesn't really matter to me. Although I don't mind doing films, I'll never take that extra step to get into a film! Television is a safer bet today. It has immense reach and you play a character for years. People connect and relate to you. It's interesting. Which is your favourite character, of all the ones you've played? I love Shyama's character. I also liked Udita of 'Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi'. If not an actress, what would you have been? I'd be married for sure (laughs). Probably I'd be working in a corporate house. But I've always wanted to be an actress. I need recognition and fame more than money. I know there's an invasion into your privacy when you are famous but it's worth it. Tell us about your real life boyfriend, Karan Singh.. (Laughs) He's an extremely understanding person. That's very important for me as I'm a very complex person. It takes a lot to understand me. He's also very patient and I'm extremely short-tempered. He's very lovable and adjustable. That's what I really like about him. But at times I don't like his laidback attitude. I'm the sort who needs to do something all the time. That's something we always argue about otherwise we're very compatible. |
