Since the Renu track ended, Gautama is hell bent on bringing Ahilya back into the kitchen and keeping her out of the court and administrative matters. She has been very vocal about it and Malharrao tried to explain but she is adamant.
Ahilya is doing Anna-daan and sees a woman leave without taking food. She follows her but looses track. Next day Ahilya asks Tukoji to get details about the woman and her family. Ahilya then goes to meet the family and learns that her husband is an ex-soldier who lost his leg and is unable to serve. They were humiliated by Gunoji when they asked for support. Ahilya brought them groceries from her personal funds and called him "brother" and promised that she will get him his due.
Ahilya tried to talk to Malharrao about the issue but Gautama entrusted her a lot of work and forbade her from going into the court. Ahilya tries to reason but Gautama scolds her and shouts.
Malharrao is worried about the murders of farmers and asks Tukoji to call Ahilya for discussion. Tukoji tells Ahilya won't be coming as she has other responsibilities given by Gautama. Malharrao walks towards Ahilya's room when Gautama stops him. Malharrao ignores her but later says that all of them are ziddi, and since she forbade Ahilya from coming to court, the court is going to her.
Gautama tells that she wants him and Khanderao to be independent and not seek Ahilya's advice for everything, they are capable of ruling Malwa on their own. Malharrao says that Ahilya is very talented and he is not going to waste her potential.
Ahilya sees the salary registers brought by Tukoji and realises that Gunoji has not paid a lot of soldiers their dues. She decides to talk about this with Malharrao.
