Gurmeet Choudhary and his choreographer, Shampa Sonthalia, took home the trophy of Jhalak Dhikla Jaa Season 5 on September 30, 2012, after months of hard work and dedication.
Gurmeet Choudhary was also a lead actor of Zee Tv's popular television show, Punar Vivah - Zindagi Milegi Dobara, while at the same time balancing a hectic schedule of dance practices with his choreographer Shampa. He received full support from the cast and crew of Punar Vivah, especially his co-star Kratika Sengar.
Jhalak Dhikla Jaa Season 5 aired on June 16, 2012, and after 32 episodes of riveting performances by one of television industry's leading heartthrobs, Gurmeet Choudhary and Shampa Sonthalia were declared the winners of that season, receiving prize money of 40 lakhs which they shared. Gurmeet dedicates his victory to the unconditional support of his wife, Debina Choudhary, and the loyal fans who were awake day and night to see him win.
