Raj:

This gives really lives in a world of his own where he believes what is convenient for him to believe. So his father emotionally blackmailed him by threatening to commit murder-suicide. Well, materialistic people like Sohan Lal will never do something to harm themselves. But maybe a young confused and hurt (by Divya) boy couldn't figure that out. Ok so I kind of can go with this explanation. But then he says in the next breath that other reason of him marrying Sarita was because she waiting in themandap for him. So he thinks it is bad to dump a girl at alter, the girl who was chosen for him by his father without his knowledge or approval. But it is ok to let her live in a meaningless marriage for 10 years. Then on top of that, he tells Divya that Sarita is his responsibility, but Divya is his love. So that's how one treats their responsibility by letting that person be abused for 10 years. So if Sarita was his responsibility, why didn't he end the abuse.

So he really is living in some universe where he is fulfilling his responsibility by letting her stay in his house?, giving her food ?, letting her work in his house like a servant?, and letting her tolerate the abuse? Misti, my sympathy for him evaporated instantly (the one I had for him yesterday).

Then he was amazed at Divya's complaints that he did not wait for her. According to him and as we know by now, he waited for her because he did not touch Sarita for 10 years. And then he was asking Divya what to do next? So he knew that Divya had left him to take care of family. Yet he was hurt by this. As of today, they never showed him telling Divya that he was willing to share her responsibilities with her. So that means he never offered to share the responsibility of taking care of Divya's family with her. After this, he expected Divya to choose him. Does he even know the meaning of marriage where each one shares one another's problems. On what basis, he was thinking that he was ready for marriage? Actually not only Raj doesn't know the true meaning of love, he doesn't know the true meaning of marriage either. He didn't know it 10 years ago and he doesn't right now. Divya actually had a good escape because she would be struggling all alone in this lunatic family.

This person has not only not grown, he has regressed to a 10 year old type of child who justifies his mistakes and then asks an adult for a solution for a problem he created. He was much more mature when he was with Divya 10 years ago.

However, I did think that Raj should have dared his father to follow his threat. The worse would have been that his siblings would be in the same state as Divya's. Then both of them could have raised them together with him working in Kabadi (scrap dealing) shop while supporting Divya pursue her acting career. At least his sisters would have been normal.

Then there is alternate world of Divya and Sarita too. So I think this was it. No more explanation of past of these three will be shown now. So Divya did not tell him how long she will be away. But she expected Raj to wait for her until she returned to Bhopal? Does she not know a thing called phone, mobile phone, email etc.? So I can understand her not contacting Raj for first three years when she was struggling. Why couldn't she come even for a visit in the next 7 years when she got her TV show. She could have come for a weekend in 7 years to meet Raj.

Then finally there is Sarita. I am not expecting them to show her past either. So why would a girl smile so happily in a wedding photo hours after realizing that groom was being forced to marry her and he was still standing like a statue next to her. Did she think that his showing up meant he was ready for marriage. But then when she saw his stony face, why did she anticipate her wedding night so happily. Wouldn't a girl be apprehensive about the groom's reaction if she is not his choice.

Finally, there is crazy family of Raj who are living in the universe of their own. The mistress can figure out the connection between Raj and Divya (evident), but the rest of family are so much into their make-belief world that they cannot connect Divya (Raj's college friend, telling them Raj was her acting coach, Raj reacting badly at her name, and then looking like a kid who got candy when he saw her) , is his ex-girlfriend. Shiela lives in her own pool of negativity where all the hositility is directed at Divya and none at her brother.

I can only say that Divya had a lucky escape. As a result, she could get both fame and wealth as well as personal satification in pursuing a career that she wanted. On top of that, she is getting a normal person like Gaurav, who for the most part is learning to love her the way she is.

Lines of the Day - Sarita's to Kamla that no one normal would ever come to his house. So even if she wanted to have an affair, she would not get a chance because this family was too crazy for a sane person to show up.

Acting wise, Karan and Rubina got the scope for the first time in last two days. Shristy did not have much to do today. So just will talk about Karan and Rubina. Both performed quite well. Yesterday, Karan as Raj brought out that crazy and some-what child like desperation in his expressions and voice when he was showing Divya the college momentos. Today I liked his expressions of incredulity at Divya's accusation that he did not wait for her. Today too he was child-like in trying to convince her that his love was very pure and he was very faithful to her.

Rubina did a very good job the way her expressions changed from hurt (at him marrying Sarita) to dawning realization at his convoluted thinking and then her turning her face away from him to tell a lie to him. The expressions were very appropriate and her acting was subtle for the most part except in some areas (when her voices rises) where her voice modulation could have been a little better.

Creatives - Amazing or What?

So all of us are waiting to get answers as to what made these characters behave like this for 10 years. Among all three characters, Divya's character is more justified even though there are questions about her too. Raj is the least defined character where he is complex, but it is hard to connect to him because so little makes sense about his behavior.

So the makers decided to do viewers a favor and provided us with a confrontation between Divya and Raj. Now in the confrontation, most of us wanted answers to three crucial questions -

1. Did Divya not tell him about her responsibilites and/or not accepted his offer to share her problems?
2. Why did he marry Sarita and expects Divya to think that he waited for her?
3. Why did Divya have expectations that Raj would wait for her? Did she tell him to do so? IF yes, why did she not contact him even once?

Well, they provided us answers or skipped some, but Raj and Divya have no more complaints left. So I guess this is the answer as provided to us in last two days. All I can say is:
Khoda pahad and nikla chuha aur vo bhi mara hua.
Literal Translation: You dig a mountain and find a rat and that too a dead one. Or the similar phrase in English would be "Much Ado About Nothing".

So it seems based on these two episodes,

1. Divya did tell him about her responsibilites. He did not offer to share anything with her. But expected her to choose him over her siblings who were minor and helpless.
3. Divya expected him to wait because that's what true love does. And this expectation helped her to survive in a harsh new world (Can accept this about clinging to an illusion. So ok with this). That she was faithful to him because she did not affairs and did not marry? (Fair enough because she is a public figure and it does seem that Raj knew this and accepted this too. That's why he was hurt that she came back, did not meet him and instead was getting married to someone else. So accept this). But why did she not contact him once she became successful. She did not have wait for 7 years to contact him. Well, the creatives just want us to accept that this is what true lovers do. Sorry not buying this last one at all.
2. Now coming back to Raj's reasons, he got emotionally blackmailed by the father. But did he not know the father and his selfishness? Why is he then estranged from his mother if it was not her fault that he was forced into the marriage. Why is he tolerating the mistress and have no problem sitting with her on the same table. From the precap, it doesn't seem that he wants Divya to be his mistress. Even though he is 10 years too late, he is thinking of giving a divorce to Sarita and getting her married to a suitable person before settling with Divya. So why would he tolerate abuse of Sarita (if it was not Sarita's fault in getting married to him) and why is tolerating all the crap that is thrown against his mother?

How could they have shown the story logically?

They could have easily explained everything logically. Instead the creatives chose to give this. They could have shown that father was having an affair with Sundari and was threatening to bring Sundari as the mistress in his house because he controlled the purse strings and has house in his name. Then they could have shown Raj succumbing to this blackmail and marrying Sarita whose father was giving a lot of dowry for this marriage. Then they could have shown that Sohan Lal broke his word and did bring Sundari to home. Raj rebelled and instead mother sided with Sohan Lal to protect her position as buttering is the way she does that. So Raj felt betrayed by both parents and he washed his hands of them. So he is living there, but doesn't care how they live. They could have shown that his neglect of Sarita is his feelings of resentment against Sohan Lal who sold him to Sarita's father. Probably they also were able to get contracts that increased their whole sale business because of that wedding. So he is indirectly punishing Sarita because he wants to punish his parents. That way they don't get the grandson (heir) whom they want desperately. It would be wrong to punish an innocent girl for someone else's crimes, but at least that were his reasons.

Then they could have shown his anger at Divya because he asked Divya to marry him so that he can also help her. But Divya refused because she being a traditional girl and pride did not want to take his help for siblings. But he was insisting and so she decided to leave for a different city (in hiding as he was too persistent). So he also blames her because he was always aloof from his family and she was his emotional anchor and she left him. So his personality went a change because one person he relied on in his life also abandoned him and did not contact him.

Now with the backstory provided so far, his detachment from mother's problems and uncaring non-understanding of Divya's problems is coming across as very selfish. I cannot feel any sympathy for such a character who only thinks about himself and has no empathy for a person whom he claims to love so intensely. That he can be so passive about an abuse of another girl in his house.

Finally, now I don't expect any explaination of Sarita or her family will be much better. So we are supposed to accept that Sarita's family is so uncaring as not even figure out that she is unhappy. Or that Sarita fell so badly for Raj and marraige is so sacred that a woman (no matter how rich or having supportive parents) must endure the abuse because afterall the marriage cannot be broken.

Now to the rest of questions that may never be answered.

1. Why was Sarita so apprehensive of Divya coming to their house in front of Sohan Lal. Sohan Lal did not know about Divya and has no problems if Raj has numerous affairs or even bring another woman. HIs requirements are that the second marriage should be to his benefit. So any answers to this question?

2. Why did Raj flip when somebody brought up Divya and why is nobody even thinking of that now?

3. Are we supposed to think that Raj has fallen for Sarita because he did not like Divya bringing up her death or saying that they can marry after Sarita's death. Anybody with humanity will react with repulsion at these comments. It does not mean that Raj has fallen for Sarita. So why does Divya think that this implies that Raj has feelings for Sarita?

4. Why do we have to watch everyday monologue of Divya telling viewers that she is doing all thsi for Sarita . Or see same insecurities of Sarita everyday. Can they not provide us some answers to our questions rather than showing all this or showing this shouting matches between Sarita and Kamla (same type of dialogues). In the beginning, it was refreshing. Now it is just boring.

5. Why do creatives bring these complex characters from Mahabharat or Ramayan when their own characters are anything but that. So Divya comparing herself to Arjun just made me laugh with incredulity.

So it is not characters alone who are all living in their world of own. The creatives are pretty much the same way.

Raj has been that one character that I am not able to connect with. Sarita I can, Divya too I can somewhat understand but Raj and his family is beyond me.

He angered me today when he talked about the reasons he had married Sarita. Responsibility? Are you serious? Even if she is absent or not in the house he doesn't notice...if she dies he will probably be the last to know. She has been abused by his family in front of him but until she doesn't ask him to speak up he keeps mum. It's more like HE is her responsibility and not the other way around. She has been kept like a maid, accused of being a barren, questioned of extra martial affairs...and he never did anything in these 10 YEARS!
Hope he never takes another "responsibility" in his life.

The question that still wanders in my mind is that has he even tried to become friends with his wife? Make it clear to her that he can never love her but can show some respect. Have a mutual relationship where he can just be a companion and support to her.

Coming to RaVya. Their relationship is complicated to say the least. Divya never tried to communicate with him and expected him to wait. While he waited but married Sarita knowing that he would never be able to keep her happy. But, a great point that you bring up is that he never asked to share her responsibilities of helping her siblings. If a man can't stand by you during your worst than he doesn't deserve to be around you during your best.

Lastly, the bits of Sarita today showed that she was back to being herself with the back answers. But I was upset that she still thought that Divya would be helping her. I don't know if she is delusional to not know that RaVya will eventually come together especially if they are under the same roof and after today's confrontation. Hopefully a sane man does show up and she has an affair...she can just leave after.

Precap: I have a feeling things are going to get complicated as Raj will be more desperate to have Divya back in his life.

Goolab, I don't think we will get an answer for this. Either she has to come from a family that is very conservative and doesn't support her walking out. But they did not show that. They showed that she could have walked out any time she wanted. The best thing in this such cases would be to leave the crazy house and move on with one's life. But they are showing that she is so much in love with Raj that she is taking it to be near him.

How can you connect to Raj when he is not being explained properly. Today was so inadequate in terms of explaining his actions. Divya is coming out to be better explainable than others because in reality too, a lot of girls put their life on hold to take care of family. Her clinging to an illusion can be understood, but there are still blanks about her. I can only connect partially to Sarita because I only understand her actions partially. They need to show more to justify everything abou the character.

Yes, to what you wrote about not sharing life with someone who did not stand by you when you needed him the most. At least that's how Raj was portrayed today. If there is more to this story, then they have yet to disclosre. But as of now, this is how he is coming across to me.

Well, Divya is helping her and Divya is sincere as shown in the end. Sarita herself brought Divya and yet is constantly questioning her. She is not delusional, but she is insecure and jealous. So she sometimes think realistically that she has nothing to lose even if Raj falls even more for Divya because he was never hers. I don't think she should have an affair but she needs to understand that there is limit to tolerating and one cannot force someone to love somebody else. So the best thing would be to walk out of this and then if Raj comes back to her, so be it. But that will take time as right now she is not in a right state of mind to get that kind of enlightenment. But I doubt creatives will show this.

Raj actually is sounding more rational in precap than anytime so far. He seems to have woken up even if it is after 10 years. But this is what he should have been doing long time back. He spoiled Sarita's life and so he should be the one to fix it before he can move on with someone else. It seems that Divya's coming back and him taking out his hurt on her is helping him change. So at least he is now taking a proactive step instead of staying passive. It is late, but at least better later than never.

Angie I saw yesterdays episode. I think when Divya left Raj lost the ability to differentiate between abuse and normal behaviour. He married Sarita because he was emotionally blackmailed and also because Sarita was waiting in the mandap. To him his responsibility was limited to see whether the physical needs of Sarita are being met or not...that is she has a house on her head...she has food.Since his emotions were locked up he did not see all that was happening to Sarita as abuse. Anyway this is how this dysfunctional family also behaves with its own members so with the loss in his ability to judging between what is abuse and what is normal behaviour he did not react. Today he reacted because now with Divya back in his life he is seeing stuff that he did not see before. So basically there was a short switch before which has been rectified by Divya.😉
