I dont understand how after living with someone for ten whole years, you can not haveany feelings of guilt and remorse. Sarita took care of Raj for a long time, and although they lived like strangers, she served him and his mother and sisters the whole time, It is one thing to not fall in love with someone after ten years. That is acceptable. How can someone like Raj, have no feelings of basic human compassion for Sarita? Leave alone friendship, we are talking of basic empathy, which this fellow seems to be entirely lacking.
Aimf, Raj's empathy genes are missing. But I think there are feelings of guilt and remorse somewhere. Otherwise, he would not have asked Sarita to forgive him. He was not expecting her to forgive him, but asked for it nevertheless.
They are showing a big contradiction in his behavior. On one hand, they showed him aware enough to sense her phsyical discomfort and he switched off the fan. On the other hand, they show him sleeping on the bed and letting Sarita sleep on the floor. He is aware of his family's abuse of her and yet does nothing until Sarita had to scream for it.
Based on what has been shown so far, it seems that he is an ostrich. So not giving Sarita his bed or not noticing her is his way of convincing himself that she doesn't exist. It is like she is an elephant in the room whom he refuses to see. That's why he was shown to be thinking that he was waiting for Divya to come back to him and Divya betrayed him. There was no thought of Sarita anywhere. It was as if he wanted Sarita to walk out of his life, but it had to be her who was supposed to it.
In some sense, it is a good change to see such a flawed character who is not a typical hero. A typical hero may not love a woman in his life, but he would be sticking to her out of some sense of responsibility. He needs to pay for his mistakes and I do hope they show everything logical to explain his character. I also hope that he doesn't keep on getting a free pass from Sarita. Yesterday, Sarita finally did something she should have done a long time ago.
