It's a continuation, but a completely new story

You don't need to know what happened in PV1 to watch PV2, but it's the same show.

I never really follow PV 1, too. Don't think you need to know what happen there to follow PVENU. As it a new show. They are just using the characters of PV1 to introduce the characters of PVENU.

I think on tomorrow there will be only PVENU, I hope.
