A Qs in mind my since weeks' is:
Is Sony TV's behavior towards Prthvi Vallabh show their ineptitude and unprofessionalism or is it more serious...corporate politics.

It has all the hallmarks of corporate politics, because there is no way that Sony TV is making ridiculous mistake, like not correcting the time of the show on their promos. It's the height of unprofessionalism.
So, they are doing this as they want the show to fail.

But why?

Well...some upcoming hotshot wanted to take the channel into a new era, so he/she came up with this idea to create own shows and then show reruns on Sonyliv app, thereby promoting the app with the digitally savvy viewers.

The old guards managing promos, reruns, show-timing and time-table felt threatened, so they used their power to do everything possible to ensure low viewership of this show. They want the hotshot exec to fail, and they are doing this by making his/her idea fail.
These are the same people that are happy with mediocrity, low content dumbed-down shows. And they didn't want this show, setting a benchmark with a storyline independent of TRPs to succeed.

Sadly...who pays the price in this? Everyone involved with making Prithvi Vallabh and us, the viewers.

Of course all of the above is purely conjecture and just my thoughts of what may have happened (I don#t know anyone at PV or Sony TV, so pure hyperbole from my overactive mind). Because ineptitude is something that I just don't buy from an international company like Sony, so it must be dirty corporate politics.

Any thoughts???

I have the same feeling and also corruption might also be involved (coz you never know what kind of people are there in the channel)! Maybe some main person of the channel wanted money from the team but when he/she didn't get it, they decided to show their true colours by not promoting the show at all so that it's TRP declines and also changed the original idea of two seasons (total 80 episodes) of the producers! This is the bad game played by the channel with the show so I think only the channel must be blamed and not the audience for not watching it! And obviously if they don't promote it or give any repeats how will people get to know about it! I wish Anirudh Pathak sir, Ashish and Sona never ever do a show on this channel again as it does not know how to respect hardwork and excellent content! Sorry for this long message but I'm totally pissed with the channelšŸ˜”

Oh that is Sony;s very old kind an act and they are very good at this!!! they are doing this with all the good shows and nothing happened to them. Because how many times we witnesses this with Sony, when the shows were doing so good and getting so popular they just don't don
t help to increase for TRP they announce another show/or reality shows on that time or end the shows, they are so business minded they don't even care for actor or actresses working so hard but they always give a damn about it . I always feel bad for those actors and actresses who was hired for certain time but always goes laid off , so that is our special THE SONY"

So it's not just me
I have been saying this for long
yes Sony has been indifferent to many shows but
PV has been a different case
Around May 2017 we got the first article about PV
and it flaunted SET original's first show, Sony's head's(Danish Kahan's) Concept
Magnum Opus, awesome cast, Writers Galaxy's(Anirudh Pathak) first Production
So yes everything was perfect
But then we waited and waited for first promo
at one point we had doubts if they are even proceeding with the show
then AP tweeted that the Promo will be out in August
we waited whole August but didn't get one
(all through this shooting was happening)
Finally first promo was out in September
then they aired it for few weeks then that's all
(inspite of excellent reactions from industry)
wait for second promo started
articles said show will launch in October, November, December
but we got the second promo itself in Dec only
That also wasn't aired frequently, Sony was busy promoting other shows
and show launched in Jan that too weekend slot 9.30
pitted against high TRP shows
The only Proper promotion PV got was just two weeks before the show
I won't take away that credit from them they did promote well for that 2 weeks
Show launched and they kept giving regular promos
but the bizarre thing was it's repeat telecast
I have never seen this being done to any newly launched show in any channel
Show launched on 20th Jan and the repeat of it we got on 27th Jan(next week)
how stupid is this, as we know
Newly launched shows are repeated or briefed
thoughtout the week for the first month of launch atleast
so that audience get to know about the show and develop interest
but no PV was reserved only for Sat-Sun, while they kept repeating other shows
it got .9 and .8 TRP for first 2 weeks
which is good for Sony standard yet no repeats
then it dropped a bit to .7-.6
then they stopped Promos totally
As u know last two months Nil promo and even that sat repeats airs at 8AM now
but they have time to air Kapil show repeats(even now)
later they skipped eps without informing(SD final and Kapil show launch)
which brought a huge drop in TRP
now the final blow is shifting time without informing
(effect of that we will see in this week TRP)
and till now Sony SNS handles are promoting 9.30 as the time
If not for Sony's internal politics,
I don't find any other logical reason that would explain this behavior
they have(whomsoever it many concern) has made sure that the show doesn't rise
and they have succeeded in it as season2 is dropped and
show will have just 45 eps in total instead of 80 eps planned

I am not sure who runs the programming department of Sony. On weekdays it is always Crime Patrol Dastak/Satark/Dial 100 which keeps running on the non HD Channel, on the HD Channel they have repeats.

Why can't they have last evenings shows repeat in the afternoon for even the non-HD channel? Are the expecting that every one now has HD at home? Looks like they were banking big time on Kapil Sharma's new show, but that's now postponed indefinitely.

Earlier Prithvi Vallabh used to have a repeat atleast on Saturday evening, now even that's gone. All they show during the weekend is Kapil Sharma's previous show. All this makes the audience lose interest. Till last year SET used to broadcast IPL, now they have even lost that to STAR.

PV is a good show and they could have shown subtle details if it had lasted the original length. Feel sorry for Anirudh Pathak, even his Star Bharat show is facing the axe.

Sony needs to really pay attention to its programming otherwise they are going lose whatever viewers they have.

Thanks all for your insightful thoughts. After reading it, it sounds like a combination of both...ineptitude / disinterest and corporate politics.
So sad as one needs to be really brilliant in this cut-throat media world and they pick shows that can catapult them into brilliance but alas fail to follow-through.
I wonder if they axed the show to be able to afford other shows, like the two Salman Khan ones.

Truly disappointed as PV had the hallmarks of being a great show and they are shortchanging the viewers (who should matter the most) and the makers.

I had marked this post, but didnt get time to reply to it. We need to understand one thing about Indian culture. It is true not just in corporate, but in politics, movies and even in homes. That old thoughts refuse to make way for the young. We dont mind killing our abhimanyu's so that Drona's, karna's, duryodhanas and the system propogated by them thrives.
It's a classical chakravyuha where any new concept gets killed unless you have someone on the other side equally powerful.

If you look Malayalam cinema went through such a patch in late 90's and through 2000 when the so called super starts didnt allow any new actor to come forward. Movies were simply bland and over the top. Even now for many new actors it is a challenge though some people like Prithviraj Sukumaran and Vineeth Srinivasan is giving oppourtunity. That's because they have fathers who belong to the industry and they cannot be pushed as such.

Bollywood because heavyweights like Aamir, Akshay etc are putting the weight behind themes that matter to them and have connections and their own fan following who will come to watch movies novel themes get accepted.

So here if you need to thrive first and the foremost you need to have some heavy weights who cannot be short changed easily. Most importantly we need a transparant TRP system. Currently it is far too opaque for any bigwig to tamper it.

Very very shocking and disheartening...
The actors and the PH would get over it ...
but the viewers would suffer the most...they would be served the same stale ,uninspiring shows...
and we would watch nagins and makhiis forever

What you say is profound. And true...so true.
Hadn't thought of it and it clarifies so many things...in life and in our culture/context, beyond this show. It's something we all know but we are conditioned to not question it and then become the followers of the system.
