Is Mrinal purposely shown as evil? What Mrinal is doing nowadays or what infitmatinf we are getting to know about her qualifies for a female villain in other shows.

1. Giving life imprisonment to people involving in art
2. Forgiving an abusive person and a rapist(he would have raped Vilas if no one came for help)
3. Telling PV to kill his entire family if he wants her to marry him
4. Cutting hands of a man who protested banning of arts

This is not a bashing post but genuine discussion post which can be about any character. Were royal people really like this especially the ones who were considered as great people? Has Mrinal in history was really like this or there are some change of writers who are purposely showing Mrinal as evil from only 3 weeks? I hope this is not to glorify Amrish and make viewers forcibly accept PV-Amrusha. Or the worse scenario that Mrinal gets married to Vikramjeet and actually become a widow like novel and movie. In real story, Malva defeated Manyakhet 6 times before being defeated and in the show Malva has defeated Manyakhet twice till now.

Dear Juhi,
I think writers are taking leverage on her character ... First thing Mrinal is not an evil soul she is blinded by her revenge ... Everything that increase her pain and comes in between her revenge she turns ruthless towards it ... Cutting hands and life imprisonment for art lovers is all a part of this

There is a strong reason for her behavior that she is confused about Prithvi .. By all this she is testing him and has started melting now

Yes about that psycho shrey I would say yes here entire Family was wrong ... Not just Mrinal ... Being a Rajnitigya she had to take side of that psycho shrey and save her weak kingdom 😊

Well to be honest very few know the exact character of Mrinal so as I haven't read the book so cannot say about it even I saw in an interview that actors too didn't have much idea 😊

It would have made sense if the whole of Manyakhet is seeking revenge from Malwa for Singhdhat's devilish act that fine day.. In which the whole of Manyakhet was impacted with many people losing their loved ones and families...
And because of the revenge mindset spread across how the people have forgotten to live their lives for the present.. There Prithvi pitching in bringing in changes to people's mindset would be good to watch...

But yesterday's scene with the old man who has lost his arms for his love for art, makes it look like the people are suffering under the devilish ruling act of Mrinal... She deserves no forgiveness if she had been a bad ruler seeking revenge from her own people in the name of revenge from her rival kingdom. How is Prithvi's forgiving act gonna get justice for Manyakhet people? Instead it would only makes sense if he takes the bad rulers under his custody and takes Manyakhet under Malwa to bring in good life for it's people.. I don't think Mrinal deserves to be forgiven for her evil act with her own people.. While Prithvi is still negotiating with her we don't know how many people would be losing their arms and eyes in the name of military rule..

Looks like to make Prithvi the great, the story is biased towards making him the hero saving the people of Manyakhet from being ruled by the bad leaders like Mrinal.. The people of Manyakhet doing jai jai for Prithvi was so blah.. I'm surprised why nobody from Manyakhet tried to kill Mrinal herselfπŸ˜†
In fact Mrinal should be scared of her own enemies in her kingdom and not Prithvi.. πŸ˜†

Hey!

I don't think we have any proper account of the character Mrinal in history n I think she wasn't even shown as warrior princess. Infact we have very less info abt Prithvi. So I can't say whether she was evil or not or whether he was so nobel or not.

I do believe CVs are thinning the line between grey and black but that haven't completely removed it. Mrinal still gets scenes where her humane side is shown, like her feelings for Prithvi and her feeling guilty for what happened with Bhoj.

Every grey character has a journey where it starts from grey, when u can justify their actions to a point where the character reaches it's worst and u are unable to justify them anymore. Mrinal has reached that point. Usually after this the redemption track starts. Prithvi's love will be bringing about her redemption. U can see the that already. And it was always said that Manyakhet is a kingdom of blood n revenge and Malwa is the kingdom of prosperity and culture. So she was always like this, just that now her reason looks unconvincing as Singhdant is dead.

About Kings being cruel. It was normal for Kings to chop off hands or given death statements for breaking petty rules n saving their own family members for huge crimes. It's just that it's not shown in TV, but PV is showing the reality.
And since 1st promo it was always said all Kings/Queens who live for revenge n destruction are at one side n on the other side we have Prithvi who believes in art, culture n forgiveness. So Mrinal had to be among those Kings/Queens only. At the end they'll prove PV's POV right. But they do give proper treatment to grey characters, like Sindhuraaj. He was handelled the best I think. So will be Mrinal, Jakalaa or Tailap. But Satyashrey I don't know what end will he get.

The theme of the show is to show Prithvi's ideology which says no one is completely a bad person, they have their inner devils which need to be removed. Mrinal has to be saved from those inner devils, her revenge jaap. Which she refuses to leave.
Symbolically they are showing Satyashrey who is a person from Manyakhet's own royal family who will bring about destruction if not stopped at the right time. Whom she forgave as he was her own blood.

I won't call Mrinal evil, I will call her "hypocrite" n Manyakhet is a land of hypocrisy where everyone talks about ideals but don't follow it in reality.

Now it's up to makers to show how Prithvi can change Mrinal n stop Satyashrey n finish off the "andha yug" as said by Vannamma.

In the absence of any detailed literature the writers are free to pick their choice of sources and tell the story they wish to. We in India are all used to democracy and the freedom that comes with it, monarchy is very different where the guy/girl ruling had absolute power to do anything (good or bad). All the great monarchs whether Indian or foreign have done some real stomach churning stuff (considered pretty much genocide in modern day), but that was the requirement of those times. A monarch who acted weak in front of the masses was pretty much signing his/her own death warrant.

Looking at some of the inscriptions in Karnataka, Tailap did not seem to the door mat that he is shown to be nor cruel. He seemed to be able to decide independently and the reason the arts may not have flourished is probably because of the wars both in the north against Malwa and south against the Cholas which took a lot out of the kingdom rather than any ban as such. Tailap also deposed the previous dynasty and started ruling, so rebellions would have been common, again no place for art to flourish where there is constant warfare.

Even Satyashrey does not seem to be the psyco as shown in the serial. Again wars with Malwa and Cholas were recurring even his rule as per the available literature.

There needs to be some villain who makes the hero look good, so Mrinal and Satyashrey are out to make Munj and Bhoj look good. Such jai jaikar for a mortal enemy was pretty much punishable by death those days.

I tend to believe that Mrinal and Satyashrey are no different in terms of being inhumane punishing people for their own selfish reasons... If Satyashrey has been evil killing the girls after claiming them for his own pleasure, Mrinal has been evil in her own kind punishing innocent people just because they love the art which she forces them to loathe for her own selfish reasons... Unless it will be shown that she's not been this inhumane and the punishment were given without her knowledge. However I doubt if that's the case.
Tailap has been a different case in terms of his treatment for Jakkala due to Kosha.. And Mrinal being aware of this all taking it casually leaving Jakkala to deal with Kosha in whatever ways she wanted to.. Good at least she yelled at her when Jakkala burnt the whole place in the intention of killing Kosha, killing others in the process... Looks like Mrinal doesn't know many things happening while she's too busy plotting against Malwa.. I wudnt be surprised if the writers justify her that she's not been knowing that her own people are suffering in the hands of her own evilness.. πŸ˜‰ She must be living in her dream that everyone in Manyakhet is living the same nightmare like her... It's gonna be shocking revelation that that's not the case and people are waiting to move on.. Anyway for now Mrinal is no better than Satyashrey from my Pov.. And I wouldn't want Prithvi's love to bring in change in her.. And if that's the case are we looking for Vilas to love Satyashrey and try her hands on bringing in change to his ways?

If Mrinal has been using her people in the war and making their lives at stake for the revenge assuming everyone in her kingdom wants justice for what Singhdhat done to their kingdom, then to some extent it can be understood..But she using her power to hurt her own people by punishing them for the love ofv art doesnt make any room for redemption in her character.. In fact I was looking forward to know how Manyakhet has been affected because of Singhdhat action.. His repenting was fine but none of it reached Mrinal except for Prithvi's words...

Maybe Mrinal's father was a good ruler and his people loved him.. And his death along with other people had a big impact on the people of Manyakhet.. And Prithvi is making a statue of that good king to bring back good memories from his ruling? I can only hope.. But I'm slowly getting disappointed with the way the writing is steering.. πŸ˜•

I became disappointed with the show after second episode. Mrinal in the show is psychopath, maybe because of the trauma she sugferesin childhood. On real Mrinal, well sources are few in number but all of them claim that Mrinal was a selfish person. Infact countless hints are available that bhoj despised Mrinal after death of his uncle. The novel romanticized the affair and the betrayal afterwards otherwise Mrinal and munj are not remembered as lovers. Munj is considered an emotional king , not intelligent.

Mrinal certainly is flawed for sure and makers have blurred the lines between grey and black when it comes to her character

Maybe to show a stark contrast between her and PV or maybe to give an upper hand to PV or to clearly demarcate two different sets of ideologies

Mrinal definitely has done things which are unjustifiable like cutting of hands of the old man for practicing art or for attacking Malwa during a festival

She is a hypocrite in my opinion who might be wrong but is not evil without a conscience

She did felt bad for PV..she did feel guilty for Bhoj's condition..so ya humanity is still in tact her heart deep down

So Mrinal does have a conscience..that is what differentiates her from Satyashray who is a complete dark character

I guess her journey is from a woman who believed only in revenge and destruction she will transform into a woman who will believe in the ideology of peace , harmony and development..a woman who started hating art and culture will once again start loving the same...how she will adopt PV's ideology.

I guess makers in order to show this journey and show a visible transformation have shown Mrinal as a grey character n even blur the lines between grey and black when it comes to her

As far as history is concerned it was very common for the kings to give severe punishments of beheading and hand cutting on non compliance of rules

Now as far as history related to Mrinal , PV and other characters is concerned then makers have not shown the reality and they themselves had made it clear that PV is only 20% history

Real life Mrinal we are not even sure how she was as very little is written about her in books

Same is the case with PV ..I think he wasn't as noble as portrayed in the show.

Tailap was not so dependent on his akka but an independent king who won several wars too...he established western Chalukya dynasty

Even Satyashray was not a psycho but a normal ruler who succeeded his father

There is no account of Kosha as well who is a fictional character

Now as per the movie and K.m. Munshi's poems

Mrinal was a tyrant who did torture PV in the prison

PV - I think makers have better portrayed him...in movies from what little I have seen he came across as boastul who gloated about himself a little too much

In the movie he asked Tailap to wash his feet

So makers really have portrayed PV as an 'almost' perfect human being while Mrinal as someone who walks on the thin like of grey and black maybe to clearly show the difference between 2 kingdoms , 2 characters and 2 ideologies

😊

Well I don't know about the history but now makers are blurring the lines between being her grey and black. She is shown as too blinded by revenge but then again she has her own reasons for that. But about chopping the hands off of the artists n Forgiving psycho was not as grey shades.
May be Cvs want to show two completely different ideologies that's why Prithvi is white inside out and mrinal on the edges of grey and black.

I don't think she is evil!!!!

She just set some rules for her kingdom and being an administrator she has to punish people not following them!!!!

As for her anger, well that is a big problem!!!!

Singdant died but she was not the one to kill him!!!!

Her thirst for revenge remained unsatisfied and she doesn't know where to direct it!!!!

So she is directing it towards Malwa and the entire royal family of Malwa!!!!
