Whenever a woman is disrespected it marks the beginning of the downfall of a kingdom. Tailap spoke about the maryada of Manyakhet to Jakkala. Yes what she did was wrong. Coming to the puja mandap with alchohol is atrocious to say the least. But is she the only one who has broken the maryada. The maryada of manyakhet was broken the moment Tailap undermined her position with his relationship with Kosha. Yes a king has the right to keep another woman, but the king has to ensure the queen doesnt feel threatned by the other woman's presence, or the larger interest of the kingdom is compromised because of his so called love or lust whatever you call for the other woman.
One of the most poignant moment of Ramayana is the defeated walk of Dasrath towards Kausalya's chamber and a painful death there chanting the name of Rama. I had always felt that scene to be Narayan's justice to his mother who always got secondary position because of the king's adulation and attraction towards his young and beautiful wife Kaikeyi. The price of undermining Kausalya was Dasrath's death with the guilt of sending his first born to the jungle.
The seed of Kurushetra war was sown by Shantanu's lust for Satyavati and Devavrath going all way out to satisfy that lust.
Pandavas had ensured though they had multiple wives authority and position of Panchali was not undermined at any point. Krishna too had multiple wives, but the position of his chief wife Rukmini was never compromised. So if you have multiple wives you should be able to give them attention and most importantly the position and authority of your queen should never be undermined. Not everyone will be Kausalya who will allow that funda. Need to see how Satyashrey takes the presence of Kosha whether he will be a Bhishma or will he stand with Jakkala his mother.
Tailap's dialogue you didnt give me love blah blah sounded hollow and to a great extend in the equation I could empthatize with Jakkala though she has her share of mistakes in the fall out.
There is no maryada of manyakhet left. Things will blow out in such a way that the whole maryada of the royal palace would be questioned.
As expected Prithvi had taken a different name Dharti singh which also means earth only to deal with Mrinal. He is a robber with peacock feather patch in one eye. What is he going to steal. Of course Mrinal's heart as she herself told I accept your bandhan. I liked the fact Mrinal is seeing only part of Prithvi or rather one eye closed and she is going to make assumptions. She is wary now, but need to see how Prithvi will win her trust and then she knows the truth of who he is. She has to know you cant make assumptions based on what you see.How much ever you say I saw with eyes, it need not be the complete truth. It will be partial truth or one side of the story.
Look at the way Prithvi made Kallari agree to his plans. He has good persuasive skills with the people who loves him and he can make them dance to his tunes. This is where he is diffeent from Kosha. When he does that antics you laugh, you enjoy though you know he is manipulating. But he is doing that for larger interest, for peace. When Kosha does her poetry, her dialogue I trust you more than myself you feel repelled as you know it is massaging ego to get what she wants. It's manipulation that can burn a kingdom where a woman expects a man to be with her always, forgetting he is also a king with whom fates of many people are tied.
I loved the way Prithvi cut the hand of Mahakai's ally king. He deserved that much for trying to violate Mrinal. Prithvi has made him lie to Mahakai also. Mahakai at this point doesnt know the interplay though he suspects Prithvi to know something. Prithvi is intelligent in his own way. He is caring and at the same time ruthless too. He is trying to heal Mrinal's wounds but at the same time trying to protect Malwa and his father too.
Now we need to see how entry of Kosha affects Manyakhet, how Prithvi's disguise to Mrinal affects Malwa and then the whole Malwa-manyakhet equation.
