Bollywood and tellywood has the tendency to neglect / make the first wife vamp and put mirch mashala and made mastani, Helena , Nandini, Karu most important person of their husband's life smiley36

Rukaaiya, Helena were not vamp...I believe they were grey.. and to survive in their Era and to maintain the position one needs to be shrewd not some mahan Aatma like Jodha smiley36.

In real harem goody person or mahan aathama has no placesmiley37

Ok Nand Nandini was first wife of royal lineage , Mastani was second wife, Helena was last wife not second and Karu was second wife. Nandini wasn't favourite, Mastani we all know is glorified too much than she actually was, Helena wasn't villainous, you need to understand her history before giving her that tag, she was sixteen when she married Chandragupta, other queens were more dangerous and he protected his youngest wife, Karu we don't know how much was loved, whether she was Tisyarakshita? We may never know.

Regarding Ruqayyah I haven't read primary sources so can't comment on that but she would definitely had been grey as she snatched Bilqis Makani's baby and never let her meet him. How cruel.

Helena was daughter of an Emperor, a freaking Emperor who though was defeated by Chandragupta still could create problems for him. She was very well protected by the Emperor but didn't have any power to be any villainous. She wasn't Agramahishi so she didn't have any power. Chandragupta had many queens who had more contacts with proper people . Helena only focused on her marital life and kids.

In Mauryan harem only Agramahishi had some power like Durdhara, Asandhimitra etc. Ashok sent Devi and Karu away to Ujjain and Kaushambi respectively. 🀣

No I am not saying they are not royal or vamps.

Makers use them as vamp to glorify the FL.

They are not vamps but one needs to be great to survive in the harem in that era . Polygamy is common for the kings but the queens who are princess or ambitious they need to be shrewd to make a place for themselves or kings life.

They are not as mahaan as ekta or other makers portrayed them.

Nandini had support of Amatya Rakshasa still Chandragupta made Durdhara his Chief Queen because Chanakya wanted full loyalty of Agramahishi. Nandini was given place of Mahadevi , another glorifying tag πŸ˜‚ She would stay immune from bowing down to Durdhara but it's ultimately Agramahishi who ruled over harem.

Even a commoner is not MahanπŸ€£πŸ˜‚ we all have grey shades in us. 🀣 But in royal harem, specially Mauryans, queens had very limited power, they mostly played saas bahu in harem to pass time.πŸ˜‚ Power was only given to Agramahishi/ Mahadevi and she was the one who could dine with the king and could give him some advice only if he allowed it. Other queens (if not of royal lineage or prestigious families) couldn't even sit beside him. They had to sit on ground in front of him.

Rukaiyaa was jalal' a first wife and cousin . They got married when they were hardly 13 years old. Jalal loved her as his friend. She couldn't give Jalal his heir. But she was with him till the end. After Bairaam Khan's death in 1559 Maham Angaa remained advisor till her death in 1564 I guess. Then he got married some Rajput's princess to expand his empire. Jodha was one of them. After Jodha too he got married again to another raajput princess I don't remember the name but Jalal was in his early 50s that time .

Helena had the privilege to spend time away from his other queens because he won her in north west region, so after their marriage they spent a whole lot of time around Indus region pampering and loving her. It's not like they immediately left for Magadha. He had to consolidate his gains from Seleucus.😁 So she had ample time to make place in his heart. Also she became soon with a kid and a child definitely makes a bond tighter because even if father ignores mother he can't ignore his child specially if a son is born.
