Even I have the same question?
You seem to have great knowledge about ancient history..
Are you a history professor by profession?
Thanks, I am not a professor π

There is a novel called Beloved of Gods by ES Modak in which Karuwaki was made Princess of Himakutvat (kingdom of Parvatak) who was sent in harem of Sushima. Staying in harem you all guys can understand. When Ashok visited Sushim, he offered Karu to him for some nights. Later she saved Tushaspha from Sushima's dungeon and they escape. They share a passionate kiss but when Tushasp later offers to marry her she choses Ashok. She reveals to him she is a princess so he marries her. It's quite a bold novel, not particularly white or black, everyone is grey. It's a fictional story though based on events of Ashok's life.

Just tell me why the royal family of himakatvut agreed to send their daughter/ princess to suseem's harem when her virtue will be in danger?
Is not it kind of insult to their kingdom?

It's a fictional plot, Himakutvat was conquered and their princess was sent to his harem (won't happen in real life, the novelist took massive creative liberties, Sushim had a relationship with Karu and then he offered her to Ashok when he visited for the time he would stay with Sushim π€’). The novel is very grey. It takes massive creative liberties ππ¬π€’π‘ Remember It's a fiction and has no connection with reality. π In real life , a princess would never be insulted this way π‘
Karu is also not Doodh ki dhuli in the novel , she ditched Tushaspha to marry Ashok as she was a princess and it would be below her stature to marry Tushaspha who was just a cavalry commander. π

I know...that's why m asking if there is at least 10% truth of the real incidents in that book.
Giving some concubine to his brother after using her is equally disgusting
They would choose death over this insulting and painful life. There are so many references of political alliances or Jauhar. I really feel bad for those helpless princess who had to get married to the kings who conquered their kingdoms. In fictions the kings fall in love but reality is far from that.

Well they do put disclaimer that their story is historical fiction, it's so true they would never behave so brutally with a princess π outrageous indeed π‘π Sushim is also portrayed as an overly bad man ππ The novel is also very tedious and boring, left it in midway, the only likeable plot was of Tushaspha, Brahmi and Vasavdatta

It's very tedious to read, only Tushaspa's story is interesting, I won't recommend buying it, muft me mil jaye to padh lena π€£π I regretted reading it due to massive historical inaccuracies both of history of Ashok and conditions of the time.
