Director and his vision plays a big role be it tv series (KA) or movies. They mould the way simple things are shown on screen and that makes a lot of difference I feel !! Here director seems casual and is not putting in efforts to make scene better.

About this director part....I remember watching Aditi's IV where she said about Ravi sir being so particular even in some smallest scenes. When Viaan helped Katha find Aarav who got missing from school...she had put a broad smile and thanked him.Ravi sir instantly corrected Aditi saying that he is Viaan whom she hates and so can't smile like that. So,director does plays a major part in bringing up the seriousness and depth of any scene. In Ashoka...director is failing big time....but can't expect much creative expertise and perfection from Ekta's shows.

I felt cringe only listening to that!!! Tell Ekta to stop recycling modern BGMs for historical shows, total cringe-fest! I just hope Adnan knows what he's doing and not going 5 steps back in his acting career! I'm a big stand of Adnan from just Katha Ankahee and watched his interview of him saying how bad he was in the beginning. And is the director even a good 1, as for Katha Ankahee they said if the direction is good even the acting would be good.

It's putting me off watching the show altogether tbh. I've planned to watch all the episodes in the weekend.

Ekta has BG of her old shows playing in Ashoka.smiley36I think one was from KZK.

@bold- This is what I felt when I came across the news of Adnan doing Ekta's show. After a show like KA ,doing a Ekta show is such a downgrade in his career. Hope he doesn't loose the appreciation and credibility which he earned by doing KA .

Why dont Ekta consider actors like Rohit Purohit or Vishal Aditya Singh for this role. Ashish Sharma indeed would have been great choice. Mohit Raina already played Ashok.... So I didn’t take his name.

Ekta used to have good directors. She is the one who made KZK -1.,Kis Desh, Kahin kisi roz and many more. Even her director inYHM was brilliiant.Sharad Malhotra and Dheeraj Dhoopar both could have done brilliant role.

He was undoubtedly the best among all. Only sane historical romance Ekta produced was Jodha Akbar and though the director was a unquestionable character in real but was a good director... Adnan is a good actor but He is too soft to potray Chandashoka. To potray His Devanam Piyadasi Rajashri look They need to show his ruthlessness which Adnan is not able to potray....

Titli smiley31.

Totally agree with you. The agression and ruthless attitude jo chahiye woh missing hai . Upar se poor editing and BGM comedy show bana diya.

VAS deserves this kind of role. But I don't want him in Ekta's show.

Trust me, Adnan has it in him, just being underutilized from what I can deduce. Maybe he needs proper direction and more workouts, as he was able to show aggression in his previous role, and even in the emotional ones.

Agreed, I too remember in many interviews both Aditi and Adnan mentioned how Ravi Bhushan was very particular about not giving up if a scene is not coming up as he wants it. That's what makes the difference !!

Also, historical/period drama's need lot of research, imagination and capability from Production team to execute well compared to other genres which is clearly lacking here.

Actors need to undertake workshops and work on body language, dialect, mannerisms, expressions as well as this is different from portraying any other character. This show seems to have rushed in all departments right from casting to telecast in 2-3 months which is reflecting on screen now.

If there would be a segment of "What all went wrong in the TV show Pracchand Ashok?" in the future, the reason would be 1 of these.

I liked Adnan and Aditi in KA the show went down the drain with AA concept. He did well in Ishq Suban Allah too..

Ekta worked with AK earlier and she may know his skill set.

Whatever you mentioned which I highlighted in bold takes lot of investment in terms of casting. Ekta's shows these days lack quality, they similar to Made In China products manufactured for the masses with no quality.
