But strangely there are people who think that Karuvaki became Ashok's wife after he conquered Kalinga. Because TV depicts her as the Kalinga princess. Even though Karu is said to live in Kausambi.
So is it true that Ashok & Kaurwaki first met when Ashok was exiled to Kalinga? Honestly, I don't agree with those who think that Karu and Thysa are the same person. Remembering that Thysa was the Mauryan queen who was sentenced to death, and Karu was the queen who was respected for her charity.

She's not really a princess of Kalinga, but maybe a villager or from a fishing town of Kalinga or an important family from Kausambi.

Karuwaki is anyone but princess of Kalinga. She wasn't a fisherwoman. You really think Ashok would call her a Devi if she wasn't from a prestigious family, also Karuwaki used to do charities, she was rich. Majority of scholars opine that she was from Kaushambi and from a prestigious family.

No one knows how Ashok married Karuwaki but she was a legit queen as he calls her Dwitiya Devi (Second Queen). No, she wasn't from Kalinga at all. If she were Tisyarakshita, She held power for sometime but its very unlikely she was Tisya because Tisya was Agramahishi, why would he call her Dwitiya Devi 😬
