This poem I had written a few months back in school, debating upon the differences made between individual humans. Hope you like it.😊
How can you define
The worth of a man
By the color of his skin
Or by the man he was born to
Why is it that if a poor man walks to our door
We shoo him away to be rid of him
When if a man of high status would walk to our door
We would welcome him with open arms
When was it decided
That we should call ourselves "mankind"
When only half of us are men
How long will it be before we learn from our mistakes?
How long will it take to undo our errors?
How long will it be before we can
See the wisdom in the people standing beside us
And not the lack of it in their fathers
How many times have we been forgiven?
And how many times have we forgave?
How can you define
The worth of a woman
By the color of her skin
Or by the woman she was born to
Cheers,
Anjali
