Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! 😊
Love the list, Anu! 😃 Quite a lot of cheerful things sprinkled throughout the episode even as the issue of complete trust continues to be a critical one - and they're addressing it well. Steps are being taken to move the story forward while simultaneously delving into DV-Saachi's relationship troubles and developing more facets of it.
- The scenarios and issues that are addressed by DV and Saachi talking to each other, putting their thoughts and doubts forward, are always so wonderful! They've had important conversations about family, responsibility, friendship, balance, love, trust, human nature...Today another lovely scene is added to that long list of significant conversations.
- DV reflects on the things he overheard Saachi telling Dils, and his hurt is written clearly on his face. He's weighed down by the thought of Saachi not having complete faith in him despite everything he's done for her. He feels he's failed her...I love that he understands her, though, and is concerned that he has failed her by not being able to gain her trust. The stress is also taking its toll...He knows how important it is to tell his parents about him and Saachi...he knows how much this means to her and it's equally important to him...That's why it's vital that he goes about doing this properly, sensitively...
- The shot of DV standing by the door, looking emotionally drained and weary, his face against the black background of the door...A tiny moment but a powerful visual...And Saachi, in her light blue/pink salwaar kameez, with a smile on her face, is the one who brings a bit of brightness and color into DV's dark world in that moment. What's beautiful about this lead-up to the conversation is that as soon as Saachi puts her hand out in front of DV, his focus shifts to her and his mood lightens a bit. He is surprised that she's there, but he can't stop the smile from coming to his face the instant he sees her. The "meri cheez" banter session put a smile on my face, too...So cute how DV leads Saachi to the bed, swinging their joined hands slightly, and then tries to figure out what she wants from him. Saachi and her riddles and hints - I love these riddle-like dialogues; they're playful at times, poignant at times, but so very poetically Saachi. "Paas nahi, FAIL ho gaye ho tum!" 😆
- It's so very nice to see that Saachi considers that ring as hers, especially after seeing her take it off and give it back to him as if it physically hurt her to do so...I'm thinking back to how DV told Dils, "This will always be Saachi's ring" - and Saachi claims that ring now, expectantly, wanting to wear it proudly and happily. But now DV knows that the significance of the ring is tied to Saachi's surrender and her bharosa in him...When he puts that ring on her finger again, it will be when they are both ready to take that step together, with the strength of both love and trust binding them even more closely.
- "Aapne kaha...issiliye laga...Yaahan laga...Bahut buri tareeke se laga..." Oh, the way they look at each other here! 💔 DV's pain is so, so clearly seen in his eyes as he looks at Saachi with his hand over his heart. He looks broken...Saachi senses that overwhelming amount of hurt that DV has bottled up and there's a shift in her eyes as she realizes just how much her words (which she knows he overheard now) have pierced him. She immediately reaches out to wrap her hand around his, reassure him, and apologize. She tries to convince him that she's okay now, that all the doubt is gone, all the uncertainty has vanished...But DV knows it hasn't. It shows in her eyes still, and he can see it and sense it. "Meri itni si baat ko seriously le liya?" The sad smile, tinged with warmth, that DV gives to a concerned Saachi..."Main har cheez ko mazaak mein udaa sakta hoon, par zindagi ko nahi. Aur aap...You're my life..." Such a beautiful moment!
- Their comfort and tactility develops so steadily along with everything else in their relationship...DV is hurt and expressing those feelings to Saachi, but he doesn't let go of her hand. He moves closer to her, takes her chin in his free hand, and promises himself, in front of her, that he will tell everyone that he is serious about his life...about her. And she responds to that warmth and conviction in his promise with that slight tilt of her head, understanding in her eyes, and supportive happiness in her smile. That pinky promise gesture is definitely another DV-Saachi trademark...Awww! Love their smiles as they link pinkies yet again!
- Saachi's attempts to talk to DV begin...LOL! Sangita was so cute in all those scenes - I love seeing this more playful, mischievous, and carefree Saachi come out bit by bit...Sangita's expressions are always fantastic, and in this episode, she was so very adorable!
- Day 1: Attempt #1 - throwback to the "Kya tumhaara galaa kharaab hai?" scene 😆 with Saachi trying to get DV's attention and earning that remark from DV this time...then Attempt #2 - the "Hi Sweetheart" message which gave DV (and me) a heart attack because it was so unexpected...Saachi bites her lip and looks at him with a happy, hopeful glint in her eye and when DV brushes it off as "Kuch nahi...Sweetshop..." Saachi is so disgruntled, LOL! Attempt #3 - the paper ball, which hits DV right on the shoulder and earns Saachi confused looks from all three people in the living room 😆 and a "Kya kar rahi hai aap?" and "Violence ki kya zaroorat hai?" from DV, to which Saachi looks at him with an incredulous expression...😆 That little head tilt Sangita does there makes me feel like Saachi's thinking, "Nautanki..." 😆 Also her "What, are you serious?" expression when DV says, "Shaadi ke pehle no akele mein!" The last straw is "I don't recommend this kind of behavior", after which Saachi snaps her laptop shut and rushes upstairs like an unhappy child...Awww, Saachi! 😆 LMAO, DV's long list of things Saachi did, followed by his disapproving, "Kyaaa...bhalaayi ka toh zamaana hi nahi raha!" 😆
- Later that day...Attempt #4 - I wonder how much work Saachi got done that day, since she was roaming around on her balcony waiting for DV to show up across the street in the evening 😆 She's so happy to see him...practically skips and runs to the railing! The attempts to grab his attention make me laugh, what with the various types of hand waving, the throwback to the marigold scene, the way she tries to cough up a storm, and then the way she finally ends up disregarding the other neighbors and tries yelling out DV's name...The final, proper shout gets his attention, and I love how Saachi's face lights up when he looks at her! Sangita and her adorable face, haha! Saachi's "Oops! Didn't mean to be so loud..." expression...the way she waves to DV, twice, alternating hands, with that elated grin on her face...AWWW! LOLL at the way her face falls and her hand freezes when DV starts doing things on his phone again. All that work for nothing! 😆 Attempt #5 - The phone call, since Mr. Dhruv Kumar is too "busy" with his phone to talk to her otherwise...It's always nice to see how these balcony interactions are shot; the JLZ team is very good at capturing those long shots from one balcony or the other, like the way we can see Saachi nodding to DV, urging him to pick up the phone...And the final shot of DV closing the doors and shutters as Saachi is left staring, speechless...That shot makes me feel sad every time I see it...Poor DV...and poor Saachi, too. Love the dialogues in this tiny conversation, also!
- Day 2: Some nice advice from Dils about DV's favorite foods, connected to advice about love and life in general. I really like how they've touched upon how Dils knows about DV's favorite foods, what with her being a fantastic cook and his "landlady" as well as a wonderful friend. And she relays this information to Saachi freely, with a lot of good wishes for Saachi's success in the roothna-manaana session!
- Attempt #6 - Another phone call to a hurt and exasperated DV. Nice link between Saachi doing groceries and DV telling Aadu that he's not Saachi's "ration ka saamaan." Aww, Saachi is so happy to see that DV's finally calling her! What a contrast in their expressions, though. Saachi is so much softer during this conversation, both in reaction and in tone, while DV is more tough to get through to, due to his pain and his resolve to distance himself from Saachi. He softens a bit when she asks, "Tumhe manaane ka haq toh hai na mujhe?" but the defenses are up again after a bit of a fight to control a smile..."Aapki tarah behave kar raha hoon. Haina?" Yeah, and I like it, DV-style! 😆 But seriously, I like the more cutting, sarcastic side of him, too - the one that reveals that he is hurt by Saachi's words and doubts and actions sometimes, too. His use of "word games" in a more acerbic, dismissive manner really hit me, since he's often played word games with Saachi in more playful or sensual ways...I think that registered with Saachi, too. Couldn't see Saachi's pouty face properly thanks to the Sony banner, so I'll have to mention it in passing. Stupid banners and promotion logos. Zidd versus pyaar...and a challenge! I like it! 👍🏼 Love their bantering, as usual! Especially when the enthusiasm is mutual and seeps through even when one of them is trying to be all aloof *cough* DV *cough* Oh! Special mention to Sangita and the *tap-tap* she does with the cell phone against her forehead. So cute! These tiny, consistent nuances really make the characters come alive! 👏
- Day 3: Attempt #7 - Saachi and the towel, part 1! She's never come out and dried her hair on the terrace, has she? Haha, I love that she was out there, waiting for DV to come out after exercising, most probably...She keeps glancing over at him beneath her lashes, barely looking at him but registering his presence all the same. That casual way of glancing over at DV but making it seem like a sweeping, panoramic survey of surroundings...Very nicely enacted, that bit! 👏 How stunningly beautiful did Sangita look in this scene? Ruslaan was looking as dashing as ever, too. Keep the clothes on with the towel, please! These two make such a strikingly stunning couple! Sorry, I digress. More time for that later this week. So...the final moment of direct eye contact! If DV allowed himself to let his resolve melt and be mesmerized by Saachi's simplicity and beauty all over again for a moment or two, seeing Saachi face him directly causes him to jolt back to awareness of an unpleasant sort, turn, and retreat...But how long can he keep those walls up? How long will that pain persist?
Attempt #8 and onward...To be continued...😉
