If any members in this forum belong in creative proffession like story writing or direction in the Indian television industry, i just have one humble request. Please stop showing regressive content and start making time bound fictional formats with smart and empowered women and not show dumb and women with Zero self respect as central characters.
I have stopped watching this show but even the trailers r enough to irk me and somewhere something is really wrong with the way women r disrespected in the show.

Since this show airs on colors, I will focus on colors' shows themselves. The brains behind different shows being depicted on our screen on the channel colors, all believe women are doormats and deserve no respect. Now, I am not being stupid by stating such an opinion, if it ever was an opinion, as we look through the different shows, colors have provided us, we would see a clear link of where women are continuously abused whether its physically or emotionally and they are still treat their husbands as their bhagwan. Is that healthy? Of course not. But does it seem like its being liked by teenagers as well as mature ladies? Well seeing how the shows are still providing certain ratings, I would say yes. Hence where exactly do we put the blame?

I feel cheated by the message being sent by this show when it comes to Bani. They promised us that they will show us a woman fighting for her independence when she realises her so called NRI pati deceived and deserted her, but instead we got a female lead who is ready to jump on her husband's orders. He says jump, she says *how high*... Seriously those ages where women were treated as mere objects, I thought had disappeared but alas I could not have been more wrong. And even worst we see other female characters in the show totally supporting it. I know these makers can give us a woman with self respect, as they did it with Rajji, but I fail to understand why they are holding back on giving Bani a spine.

I'm not sure that the rating prove that it's being liked. The more the angsty romance between a hero and the heroine, the more the people like it (like in madhubala, laghi tujse lagan,...) but i'm not sure they actually like to see rich people being mean to others. It's not entertaining, it's disguting.

I feel like if people are watching bani's show it's because they empathize with bani. Members of my family says "poor bani" while watching the show, they don't understand that she could do better than that. They believe she is doing the right thing and that she is having a hard time.

What i adore with the show is that we have a combination of angsty romance with sohum and rajji, we have independent woman with rajji, and we have bigger issues with bani. But the problem is that bani isn't a character that can handle what is being done with her. I'm waiting for her to wake up. And then i guess the show will be even more interesting.

Sometimes i'm annoyed at sohum but it's a... "good annoyance" (i don't know how to say it?), i mean that i still enjoy watching it. Whereas with bani i'm bored and i don't care.

You are right. The trps are high only for such shows where women are doormats and are disrespected. Either the meters measuring trps are faulty or majority of progressive people just dont watch enough tv esp hindi gecs. Maybe it will take ages before a hit show with progressive content will ever be seen in near future.
Every soap starts with a promise and loses its plot along the way. I too thought this show is going to promote independent and show a way to women trapped in such NRI marriage circumstances. Thats how it was marketed as. People like us r fools to have believed that and started seeing this show.

Keeping in line with what I said about colors' shows, there has been a line of evidence in the ratings showing that for example when the heroine is eating from the bin for her husband the audiences are loving it, but when she decides to get her own back the ratings drops (one example)... So in reality people are liking the abuse being depicted regardless of whether it is for romance or verbal assault by the rich to the poor.(I mean thats what i understand from those ratings)

Yes of course we feel sorry for Bani whilst watching it, but when she says I will stay back to fight for my right regardless of what is thrown my way, that is applauded when in essence it should be forbidden, as being a woman does not automatically mean living a life full of insults just because you married a moron. I feel like cvs are taken way too much liberty when it comes to Bani and are in turn sending out the wrong message to society and I do not like it especially when i know for a fact that some women will actually think thats the right thing to do, when its not.
I used to be annoyed at Rajji when she allowed Soham to walk all over her but now she is rocking his brains, hence am loving her even more😆

@TV18.... You said it all, shows start off with a promise to depict wrongs in society but end up showing absolute crap in the name the fiction. The fact that its fiction itself should give them the lee-way to depict stronger characters, etc! but ehhh!! I think we should stop thinking and expecting too much when it comes to such shows.

Women like Bani do exist in today's world as well. Atleast her inlaws r trying to be nice on her face. But some some/most inlaws in punjab gave big pride and big mouth especially if they have NRI children. Daughter in laws are expected to be submissive. The women who take a stand are insulted in their societies. They are not showing fiction at all.

this show was meant 2 focus around the lives of women that get married to NRI men and are ditched but its turning into a typical saas bahu show where the bahu is always crying and women are treated badly... the only dif is that in this show we don't have a saas who does zulam on the bahu but instead we have the daarji and his waaris that the job...👎🏼
