Ela,

Agree that all the passion we saw before MC or the lust during Mehandi dance is now gone. But, something more beautiful has developed. Without that their rship would have been only that of physical attraction. The respect, trust and understanding of each other was completely missing. On top of it the pregnancy track had place only for betrayal and anger. I agree though that during Ja's bday something could have been done there. But, what we got instead is more respect between their rship and ruku finding out about Ja's new friend. During Tasneem track, it was such a serious matter and Jo's last wound was stil there...Ja acknowledging it has actually freed both of them from any locks the might have had inside. If CVs dont show Ja starting to romance now I would agree with you. Jo migh hold back due to Ruqu, but wont be able to in the long run..

Hi Ela,
I differ with yo here. Lust is a negative emotion and cannot lead to love...I feel trust and respect can lead to love. This is what was missing from their rship. Many love marriages that start mainly because of physical attraction do not last. You need to appreciate the person as whole, not just the physical beauty. The pure passion was shown when Ja was emotionally down and Jo touches him on shoulder. His tears were shown in her eyes,, this is what passion is. The passion was there when Ja was thinking about Jo after his bday gift. The passion was there when he felt the heartbeat, although I didnt like that scene that much..Jo showed the passion admiring the gift she received and showed worry in beating the gift..

You r right, Ela, nil passion seen nowadays btwn JaJo. Reg the earlier sword & aarthi scenes, well we all know from Jalal s side atleast that he was attracted to Jo on 1st sight & it was a big ego blow to him when she placed her sword on his neck & declared her intense hatred for Jalal. And also we know that very hatred of hers made him marry her & spout his hate & revenge nonsense to her. But despite that, his attraction for her came out at those close moments.

On Jodha s side, tho we did see her flashbacks of seeing Jalal s face at the Gangaur festival at odd times before marriage, nothing else was shown later on regarding her attraction towards Jalal. She s just shown to be little aware when he comes near her or when her lil sisters praise his looks. Of course, it might be that her hatred for him didnt let her feel any passion or other feelings for him. But now that her ghrina has gone for him & she s even started respecting & admiring his good qualities, next logical step would be to show a degree of attraction for him. Let us see whether she gets such vichitra feelings at all 😆 .

Regarding Jalal s seemingly complete lack of reaction to Jodha now, well it must be the result of understanding finally Jodha s feelings about him before & after marriage. He has understood why she hated him so much & also what all wrongs he has done to her. So (not to forget the mysterious no touching vacchan too) unless & until Jodha gives him the go ahead for taking their relationship to the next level, Ja will maintain his distance & probably hide his feelings too. Also he s confused himself reg his feelings for her & is still discovering his nonexistent heart 😉 .

If all else fails, we can give them mighty dakkas to fall in each others arms & realise their attraction for each other, I d say 😉

Very nicely put Gayatri, loved it. The passion is there, but its not romantic. Feeling other persons pain, understanding the mistakes they made, dropping the prejudices and coming out healed - these were all very passionate changes. The way Jo feels for Ja's pain after pregnancy, super passionate. The way Ja compared himself with AK, that was so passionate.

Ela and Megha,

You both are right in the sense that there are different kinds of passions. Passion towards a body (physical attraction), Passion towards a person (on the whole), passion towards a concept (like how Jalal is on the tasneem case), meeting of minds kind of passion etc. For ex: today me and hubby shared an ice-cream cup and we just loved it (honey-ginger flavor to be precise and we were eating it for the first time). We were eating from the same cup, yes. But it was all very platonic. It was still passionate for me because of our shared experience. This is also kind of an intimacy. Not sure I was able to explain this correctly.
So, coming to the point, what we are missing between Jodha-Jalal is the physical and also romantic intimacy. Its the right time for the CV's to start showing it and this is what I was mentioning about and expecting too.
But, they have also shared other passions, like in BB's case when Jodha keeps a hand on his shoulder, they shared grief. During Tasneem's case, they are sharing a passion for a concept and so on.

Love,
Kshithi

Nicely put Kshithi! The question now is can we all take the physical/romantic passion before the trust/understanding/respect was built? The way they showed Jo with so much pain and hatred, it would have been one sided. Like it was in the beginning. The thing though is that Ja stopped that as well may be bcos he realized how much pain he caused and that her ghrina was valid. Jo dropped the ghrina tag and Ja immediately felt something in his heart. Next one she sends a heartfelt thanks as per the spoiler, there is nothing stopping Ja. He will feel that his redemption is complete and can take their rship to the next level..

I loved your analysis ESPECIALLY Jodha's three wounds and their redemption tracks. I want Akdha's love story to start but only after they are absoolved of their negative feelings for each other. As u said these tracks are helping Jodha overcome her wounds. I am glad CVS are taking the time but I wish they showed at least two scenes of Akdha in each episode.

Great post!

These are my exact thoughts on this subject. The show is not 6 months in yet, the actual romance and passion surely can't begin yet! We are seeing the foundation laid out. It's also my belief that as soon as the lead express their love, the show loses its appeal. This may not happen for JA, I'm really rooting for it, but it's what I've seen.

The equation between Jalal and Ruqs is not romantic in my opinion. If he ever touches her, it's only to comfort her and console her. They're only friendly with each other, even if Ruqs wants more than that, Jalal has already denied it. All I see between the two is political discussion and games. It's all superficial to me.

JJ's interactions on the other hand are much deeper. There's equality there. Jalal really speaks to Jodha in a different manner than with anyone else. The depth in their discussions is not seen anywhere else. They may not be in love yet but already there's a sweet uniqueness to their relationship.

I'm also more interested in seeing how JJ weather these circumstances together. I don't like seeing romance when the couple isn't even ready for it; this is why I did not enjoy the boat scene. But I like their discussions and arguments when these issues arise. From this Tasneem problem, we saw Jalal realizing Jodha's feelings toward her own marriage and attempting to understand her feelings. He basically presented himself alongside Adham for doing the same thing to her. This has so much more of an impact on their relationship than just romance would.

Thanks Preeti! 😛
I agree that once they acknowledge their feelings, nothing more left than Salim's entry. This is not a simple love story and will not be till a long time. Jo has many reasons for hatred and Ja is surrounded by devils. The prejudices have dropped and some devils out, its a long journey and I dont want them to rush it at all. Just hope thought that Ja now makes the moves, demands her attention and Jo starts missing his attention when he ignores..This is the next stage and they are so ready..
