I think Savitri is treated like a slave firstly because she never gave Garodia family the 'heir', but 4 daughters instead. And as mamis said, women are treated like this in most of parts in India... well, atleast more in villages where literacy is low. Savitri herself knows her value is nothing in the house and she has no where to go if she tries to retaliate and is kicked out. They have shown from the very beginning that the girls always came last in any matters of the house. So maybe that's why Savitri is quiet. I think there is only so much women in her place, can do. The biggest disadvantage for women like Savitri is that they arn't educated enough to leave the house with their daughters and make a life for themselves.

thanx seema 😊 😳 😳 😊 thts exactly wht i am trying to say.. 😊 😊 ..she is quiet coz she is probably illiterate and she doenst have a place to go....but she does speak to her dotters and she shud tell them that she is taking this injustice coz she has to..and not becoz its right!!!!!!!she shud teach them to be educated and smart enuf to stand up against it. 👏 ..okay she sacrificed her whole life so that her dotters have the security of having a home and belonging to a family..but then what is the use of such a huge sacrifice if one by one her dotters have the same fate.. .all they ahev learnt to do is to obey their father...and after getting married..obey their husband and in laws...without ever bothering to even figure out if the orders are rite or not.....she has to be quiet in front of the whole family and take whtever mental trauma they inflict on her but she CAN and she DOES talk to her dotters........she has given them the strenghth to be able to adapt in any kind of situation in order to keep everyone around them happy. 👏 ..but she shud also teach them the courage to say no to wht is wrong. 😊 ..she didnt ahve much choice in life...but why shud she teach her dotters to accept all this as fate...
