Note:

Hello everyone! Firstly, I apologize sincerely for such a delay in updating. It is my turn next and I was hoping to update last weekend, but due to personal reasons I could not.

I am trying my best to get a update in this weekend and to make it up to everyone I will try to make it extra lengthy and good :)

Once again, I apologize. I do hope that what I'll be writing makes the wait worth it!

Love,
Anjani.

Why does it always happen that stories we love the most and follow with all anticipation gets updated the least?

Being a reader as well as a writer, I completely understand how you feel. But I can also say that writers don't so it on purpose, sometimes our asli duniya just get to us. I really am sorry, I am working as fast as I can.

Chapter 14

The next morning met Khushi with an empty room, glancing at the clock she realized her husband must be off on his daily jog. After a leisured stretched, Khushi got out of bed and made her way to their wardrobe, only to stop halfway there.

An elegantly wrapped box rested on the seat of their mint green recliner. Walking up to it she also found a note tucked into one of the perfect folds.

Wear this today. - Laad Governor

Khushi's cheeks turned unmistakably pink as she read the note, it still amazed her how her husband could melt her insides with a couple simple words. Perching herself on the recliner, she took the package in her hands and quickly began unraveling it.

A complete replica of her red sari from her photo shoot at AR was settled in the box except in a deep blue. Softly, Khushi ran her fingers through the folds of the sari, a smile adorning her lips before she rushed off to get ready for the day.

Arnav returned ten minutes later to an empty room before he heard the muffled sound of the shower, smiling when he noticed the package missing from the recliner. Grabbing a spare towel, he wiped down his face as he sat on the edge of the recliner. His thoughts went back to the day before, how Khushi and he had planned to confront Sheetal only to be so intercepted and accused by his beloved sister.

Upon returning to their room, he had confided in Khushi, not wanting to do anything against her wishes and her comfort. But Khushi being Khushi had told him that they need to keep Sheetal in the house so they could prove to Anjali that he had no fault in this.

It took a lot of convincing on Khushi's part to ultimately get Arnav to agree to allow Sheetal to stay and in all honesty she was glad as she did not have the heart to send Aarav away.

Soon the conversation took a lighter path and before he knew it Khushi fell into a deep sleep as she cuddled into him. Looking down at her the night before made him realize how tired she must have been through all of this, mentally and physically. Arnav then decided it was time to bring some happiness back into his household and what better way to do it than revive his own personal source of happiness.

Just as he heard the shower turn off, Arnav sneaked out of the room, not wanting to see Khushi till he put his plans into action.

A couple hours later found Khushi in Anjali's room as she reached out to Khushi, promising her that she was there for her.

When Khushi looked back in confusion Anjali explained how Arnav had come to her room in the wee hours of the morning before his run and gently explained everything from their suspicions to their evidence. "I still can't believe how a few words from that women had me doubting Chote, my Chote. He never hid his nonchalant attitude towards his various relationships from me, but he would have never shirked his responsibilities."

"Oh, Di!" Khushi whispered before wrapping her arms around her. Rubbing her arm she said, "Don't beat yourself up about this. You reacted that way because you were worried about Aarav, a little boy. That had been my main concern too."

"Khushi, you...?"

"Even I thought Arnav was Aarav's father for a while, albeit I was shown proof at the time." Khushi shook her head, clearing her mind of all her negative thoughts. "But let it go, Di. We are with Arnav now and soon everything will be okay again."

"I hope so, Khushi, I hope so..." Anjali murmured, right before they heard some loud commotion from the living room. Tossing each other a glance, Anjali and Khushi walked to the living room to see what was going on.

They found an ber excited Aarav, an amused Arnav, and a too happy Sheetal along with Nani looking on with a soft smile.

"Khushi aunty! Anjali aunty! Guess what!" Aarav shouted excitedly as they came into view, still bouncing around. Not giving them the chance to actually guess he said, "We're all going to play a game of basketball!"

"Basketball?" Anjali wondered. Looking over at Arnav she continued, "But you haven't played basketball in years, Chote. What's so special about today?"

Shrugging, Arnav simply replied, "I though I'd share this experience with my wife."

"Yes! You'll play with us, na Khushi aunty?!" Aarav questioned as he grabbed onto Khushi's hand, tugging expectantly.

"No, no." Khushi blurted. Upon Aarav's sad face she explained, "It's not that I don't want to play, I just don't know how to. I'll just get in the way."

"I didn't know Khushi Kumari Singh Raizada was so scared of a ball." Came her husband's instant mocking reply.

Before she could answer back Aarav, who seemed to have caught onto his game, spoke up, "Yea. You told me you weren't sacred of anything, Khushi aunty... I guess you were wrong."

"I am not afraid!" Khushi seethed at her husband, she couldn't believe he had even turned Aarav on her. "I'll also be playing!"

"Great! Let's go!" Arnav smirked at Khushi before turning and walking past a now frowning Sheetal.

He led them out to Shantivan's vast driveway, where it seemed Akash and NK and had just finished setting up two basketball hoops at both ends.

They divided the teams as Arnav, Akash, Aarav versus Khushi, Sheetal and NK. With the flip of a coin the game begun with ball in the boys' possession first.

Arnav was able to score two points before NK successfully stole the ball. Seeing Akash gaining on him, he called out to Khushi and passed the ball to her.

She caught pretty gracefully, but instantly cursed herself for not changing out of her sari as she begun to move. She made it close enough to their hoop and was about to make the toss when felt two strong arms glide across her waist, making her gasp. It took Khushi everything she had in her to not drop the ball as she was lifted off the ground and even more to shoot it through the hoop when Arnav whispered "Throw it, Khushi" against the bare skin of her waist.

He slowly slide her body down his, making her feel him as he felt her, only to step away as soon as she was steady on the ground.

It was only when Akash spoke up that Khushi realized her surroundings. "That's cheating, Bhai! You can't help the other team!"

"All's fair in love and war, Akash." Arnav shouted back, his eyes never leaving Khushi.

Soon they all fell back into the spirit of the game, which ended with the guys beating the girls and NK by a good 8 points.

Arnav didn't notice Sheetal as he high-fived Aarav until she leaned into him and practically purred in his ear. "Good game, Arnav. Just like old times, eh?"

"Arnav used to beat you this badly back in college too?" Khushi spoke from the other side of Arnav, entwining their hands.

"Actually, Sheetal rarely ever played with the rest of the gang. It wasn't her thing. Right, Sheetal?" Arnav spoke up as he moved away from her while he softly squeezed Khushi's hand.

"Uh, yea. Not my thing." Sheetal muttered before stalking off in the opposite direction.

"Where's Mom going?" Aarav asked out loud. "She didn't even congratulate me..."

"No worries, buddy!" Arnav lifted him up into his arms. "The fact is we won! Let's go celebrate!"

Khushi couldn't help the soft smile that graced her lips as she watched Arnav walk back inside with a a over enthused Aarav before she followed them herself. Although as she passed the threshold, she remembered how the duo dared to taunt her earlier and walked past them furiously.

Arnav felt rather than saw as Khushi whizzed passed them, her gait giving away her anger. Turning towards Aarav, Arnav have him a inquiring look to which he just shrugged. Putting Aarav down, he said, "Come on, buddy. Let's go see why she's upset now."

Instinctively, Arnav led them to the poolside, where they found Khushi pacing its length. She was muttering about useless saris whenever she stumbled over hers in between voicing her outrage at Arnav and Aarav's audacity to tease her into playing basketball.

She was about to turn and continue her pacing when felt an odd tug at her pallu. Turning, she found Arnav and Aarav both holding onto the edge of her pallu.

"Sorry." She heard them say together, their heads hung in shame. When she didn't say anything, they looked up and repeated, "Sorry."

Khushi merely hmphed and turned around, crossing her arms. The boys instantly dropped her pallu and came before her, holding their ears. "Sorry."

This time, Khushi began to turn and walk away, but Arnav grabbed her arm and yanked her back towards him. Kissing her cheek, he growled, "I said I'm sorry."

"Me too!" Aarav called as he tugged at her skirt, making Khushi crack a smile.

"Theek hai, I'll forgive you." Khushi lamented. "But, only if you apologizing while holding your ears and kneeling!"

"What the--?!" Arnav looked at her in disbelief, but when Khushi looked back at him with a no nonsense look he reluctantly held his ears and knelt. Seeing him do that, Aarav did the same.

They gazed up at her apologetically and before they could even open their mouths, Khushi engulfed them in her tiny arms as she joined them on the floor.

After she pulled back, Aarav kissed her cheek and went off to his room. When Aarav was out of sight, Khushi and Arnav looked at each other, their eyes conveying that same thoughts. They had to deal with Sheetal soon, not only for them, but for Aarav as well.

Please read:

I am so sorry everyone. My readers and my co-writers. This delay wasn't intentional nor anticipated, but I couldn't help it. A lot of things just happened one after another and I was too preoccupied otherwise.

Anyways, I've tried to bring in some moments from the show that I liked or that could have been dealt with better and tried to do them justice. And I know, this kinda stretches out the story, but I didn't really want to write about the drama that would soon unfold after all the things I was dealing with.

I really hope you like it! My co-writers and I have tried hard to turn the Sheetal track into something we all would have wanted and I hope this chapter adds to that attempt!

A big hug to all our readers who waited patiently and expectantly for my chapter and my co-writers for being so supportive.

Love,
Anjani!
