| Best remembered as the cranky inmate from Bigg Boss and the crankier bahu from Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai, Rupali Ganguly has another side that not many know of.
The actress has also been working behind the camera as the creative head of the US-based insurance company New York Life.
When asked about it, Rupali confirms, "I have been making ads for them for quite some time, but I don't like talking about it. It's something that I am passionate about. I've been doing it for a long time."
Animal lover
Recently, one of the ad films that Rupali conceptualised was nominated for this year's Emmy Awards.
Talking about it, she says, "It was one of the cutest ads I have ever worked on. The reason I got the most excited is because it had a baby elephant in it and I'm a devoted animal lover."
Rupali went with her creative team to Kerala where the ad was shot. "The theme was to show kids having fun with the elephant. We didn't want to keep it very serious."
Talking about the experience of working with kids and animals, she says, "I really love working with kids. In fact, I had worked on another ad with toddlers that won the A&A Multicultural award in 2004.
I know animals are really tough to work with, but I had great fun working with the baby elephant."
When asked if she wants to take up ad-filmmaking seriously, she says, "I don't know. For me, the creative part of coming up with ideas came even before I thought of getting into full-fledged acting."
The actress doesn't yet know if she will be travelling to New York to attend the Emmy's. "Of course, I am thrilled about the nomination. The work isn't just mine, but a team of people who equally deserve the credit."
Dog's life
Rupali, who is an avid dog lover, recently attended the dog show at Shivaji Park with her pet dog, Krishna. When asked if Krishna won any trophy, she says, "Of course, he won the laziest dog badge.
He just refused to get up from my lap and spent the entire evening looking around and throwing attitude at his fellow dog mates!" |
