Visi bahut budiya!! The fact that your wrote this during the original airing when the characters were settling in is 👍🏼

I have a renewed sense of appreciation for IPK forum (when it was active)... warts and all.😃 The writers, the variety, the different opinions and the difference of opinions made it quite unique on IF, much like the show itself.

Vistaa,

Thankyou for the welcome. I have been a silent reader for some time and have always enjoyed your posts and take on the show.

What I meant by messing up Khushi's character was not so much in her relationship with Arnav or others but how she was with her own self. The earlier Khushi was always aware in her interaction with others - whether it be her sister, Shyam, Lavanya, Arnav or Anjali. There was always a subtext to her actions and so she was easier to understand. Somehow they did not concentrate on that after the marriage. Now this is something I cannot quibble with...a lot was implied, and little explained. Maybe they were expecting us to have known Khushi well by then and were trying to get away with brevity. Where earlier she knew and expressed that she had to continue working at RM for the money even if she was humiliated, the writers did not allow the character to think and consider why there needed to be a 6 month contract and what would stop Arnav from breaking Payash marriage after that. All indications were that the six months thing was an afterthought (or perhaps channel's interference)...it was a voiceover that was inserted after the scene was canned. But you are right, that still doesn't excuse the point you have raised.

Ofcourse the creatives didn't give Arnav too the facility to question himself what he would do after 6 months, whether Shyam-Khushi really did carry on during the 6 months, and how to punish Shyam.

Not sure if I am being clear, but I think the biggest disservice they did to Khushi after Holi is not allow her the dignity of showing her hurt like they did allthrough before. I get that it is in Khushi's character to be positive and look for probems, so trying to get Arnav to break the marriage through irritating him was in character, but it could have been interspersed with allowing her to feel the hurt. To me the wedding night monologue, and later the poolside "I hate you" confrontation with Arnav, were the ultimate venting out of her hurt and betrayal. Those two scenes could not have been better. Thereafter, Khushi being the pragmatic bandi that she was, just went about her business. Then later of course, was that other heartbreaking sequence when she paints Arnav as her dream husband to Garima, during her friend's wedding. By that point she is so hurt, that she contemplates suicide It aways seemed to me that whoever was writing at that point had little notion of women and their instincts - neither was the affectionate and indulgent Payal allowed to be aware of issues with Khushi's marriage nor did the normally perceptive Anjali think further about why her brother did not seem happy with a hasty marriage. Totally agree with your point about the dumbing down of Payal; Anjali was too busy being hurt and offended at being left out of her brother's wedding to think any further.

Thanks for a deliciously long reply Kashi😊 I will hope that you will post more.

Thanks, Savs😊

Yes, this forum used to be really something, didn't it? Sab apni raag alaapte the...and for the most part, there was a healthy respect for differing opinions. To be honest, I had never participated in a forum of this size before and was more than intimidated initially...but found nothing but love and acceptance once I actually started to post.

Couldn't agree more on the wedding night monologues or the time when she felt she coudn't take that see-sawing behavior anymore that she had to contemplate suidcide. Those were extremely well written and enacted. It stayed through a the way from when she was told of the reason for the marriage to the 'yeh naadani hum kar baithe' monologue. It was inbetween the wedding and the suicide that the writers neglected the sensitivity of the character to feel more for hersef I thought. Personally I could connect but a large proportion did not appear to, so the writing must take some blame.
Anyway that discussion is for another stage in the story. Coming back to the scenes you speak of in this post, the attraction, the pain at being misunderstood (on both sides), and the utter desoation at the thought of never seeing each other again was brought out wonderfully by the writers (and the actors ofcourse) and they deserve all credit for that.

@Bold: You said it!👍🏼 Desolation is really the word to describe both of them at this point.
