Dayanand Shetty is someone who needs no introduction to those who have been following the historical Indian show, CID. He has been the part of this shown since its initial and is among one of the best officers. His powerful slaps and specially breaking doors have become a style class nowadays. Daya's smile needs a special mention and the famed Madhuri Dixit is no exception as she too became an admirer of his magical smile.

Daya was born on 11^th December, 1969, in a Tulu speaking Bunt family in Katapadi village of Udupi state of Karnataka state in India to Chandra Prakash Shetty and Uma Shetty. He has two sisters. Daya did his B.com from Rizvi College, Bandra. He's married to Smita and has a daughter named Viva.

#He won the "Best looking guy" award conducted by Indian television in 2002.

Later he got into acting as a theatre artist and worked in plays like Secret and Kaalchakra. He got the best actor award for one among them. One day he went for the auditions held for a cop in the show CID and that was something which made all the difference. There were seven popular faces standing at the spot and Daya had to speak a dialogue," Apna kaam kaaj jari rakhiye". That was the first time he faced the camera as an actor and CID's producer BP Singh showed him a thumbs up from behind the camera. Daya originally joined the team as a sub-inspector and currently he's Senior Inspector Daya. He earned fame as Daya of CID and has also essayed the role of Harpreet Singh in Sab Tv's Gutur Gu. He has made guest appearances in shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and Kkkusum. He was invited as a celebrity guest in Deal Ya No Deal and appeared as Shivaji Satam's friend inJeena Isi Ka Naam Hai

Apart from this, he has shared screen space with actors like Dharmendra in movies Johnny Gaddar and played a police officer in Runaway.

Daya was a contestant of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 4. His fans had a treat watching their dearest super cop dance on the stage. He got "Performer of the day" on his first ever dance performance.

Daya is a very integral part of the CID team. Apart from using his amazing investigative skills, he uses his muscle power to subdue criminals

. No criminal can ever get away from his custody. He shares a great bond with his team members, especially with Abhijeet. He has appeared in a lot of shows as a guest and his presence is something which makes every event memorable.

Apart from this, he has made his appearance in various advertisements some among which are Castrol, Chyavanprash, Hero Honda, life, Seequre and many more clothing brands.
