Chapter 4

Virat and maanvi were heading towards maanvi's college and there was silence filled in the car. No one knew how to begin their conversation. It was not like that they were meeting for the first time but still the gap of two years that too without any contact had left them in a completely blanked out situation. But how can the two chatter boxes remain silent for long and look at the tuning they share, both decided to break the silence at the same time

Virat: Man'.

Maanvi: Vira'.

And this was it they both burst out laughing! The silent environment of the car was now turned on into an environment filled with echoes of laughter and giggles. They were talking random things, about their aspirations, how did they spend these two years. Then suddenly something stroked Virat's mind and he out of nowhere asked maanvi,

Virat: Mannu''why u didn't try to contact me in these two years? And even when I tried from my side u made one or the other excuses?

Maanvi was caught off guard! She knew that this question will come but she didn't expected it to be so soon. She was speechless as she didn't know what to say!!! She didn't wanted to take Taani's name because she knew that this will strain their relation as she had some hint that what Taani is trying to do with Virat to make him realize his own feelings but deep inside she was happy as well that he missed her and her being indifferent towards him bothers him so much. Her chain of thoughts were broken by Virat's voice,,

Virat: what happened mannu? Where are u lost? I asked u something?

Maanvi: huhhh''???

Virat: I said I asked u something and don't u think I, being your friend, sort of best fried, owe an answer?

Maanvi: Wohhh'..ummm'Haan , yaar tum bhi kya baat le ke baith gaye!!U were busy with your career and establishing yourself as a singer!!! And besides u know na I was preparing for my entrance and cracking into a college like FMS is no kids play dear!!!! And u know it requires to be completely focused and away from other distractions'''''.

Maanvi's uninterrupted blabbering came to an halt with screeching sound of the brakes and she was surprised that why Virat stopped the car as she was so involved in her explanation that she doesn't noticed that they reached her college. Here Virat started coming closer to manvi making her nervous . He was here enjoying her expression and just wanted to tease her but as soon he reached closer to her a feeling unknown to him overpowered him and he started coming more close, closer than what he had thought before starting ,making maanvi nervous like hell'.

Virat: So I am a distraction to you''''???????

Virat asked in his husky voice making maanvi shudder and she wasn't able to utter a word

Maanvi: Nahi!! '.woh'. I didn't mean that''''..

She said gulping and Virat was inches away from her face and Maanvi wasn't able to comprehend that how she should react but suddenly clinking of her bangles brought Virat out of his trance in reality and he himself was shocked that what he was going to do so changing his way he opened maanvi's seat belt and the door of maanvi's side and maanvi without any thought jumped out of the car and started moving towards college but was stopped at Virat's voice,

Virat: Maanu!!!

Maanvi***without turning and nervously ****: Jaldi bolo I am getting late for the class!!!!***fumbling and trying to lighten the mood***

Virat: Stay away from the guys here!!!! You are too innocent to handle them as they are big time flirt and prankster and if there is any problem I am just a call away.

Taani was hell disoriented! First her mind was every now and then was getting diverted towards virman thinking about both of them being together alone after such a long time and at the same time her first meeting with her boss was adding up to her nervousness.

Her chains of thoughts were broken with someone's good morning which was not addressed to her but to a sweet receptionist.

Sonia : Good morning sir! Yes sir she is there in her cabin!

'''.: Good!!! Ask her to bring in my schedule for today'..

And by saying this with a smile he starts moving towards his cabin but suddenly stops and again moving backwards comes back to the receptionist

And with that he smiles and again moves towards his cabin which has a name plate inscribed with the name "Anurag Dasgupta-MD"!!!!

Taani was totally in a trance when she saw him!!!! "Goddd he has such a charming personality" she thought!!! And in the first meeting itself she felt a sort of inclination towards him and this feeling was new for her as she had always thought herself to be equal to any man and never found anything different in or u can say any element worth "attention seeking" in a man as she thought that there is no man who can charm her but this person had something in him which was drawing her towards him. She had never let any person dominate her, not even her dad and before coming here she was sure that she won't even let her boss dominate but after her acquaintance, even though it was not a face to face one, with Anurag Dasgupta she felt that she would actually like to experience to be dominated by him.

***Woahhh****Get a grip taani!!!!! Your hormones are really rushing at superfast pace!!!!!! Control!!!!

Sonia: Ms Taani!!!!! U can go!!!!

Taani: huh?... Where?????

Sonia: You r working with AD sir na ???????? he is here !!!! u can go and report him!!!!

Taani: ohhh Yeahhh!!!! Thanks!!!! Waise was he Mr AD with whom u were talking!!!????

Sonia****Smirked as she was noticing Taani during entire scene*****: Yeah he was AD!!!!! Isnt he a charmer!!!!????

Suddenly she realized what she said and was damn embarrassed where as Sonia was grinning!!!! Taani tried to handle the situation but the damage was done and her Sonia was enjoying and said

Sonia: Don't worry dear!!!! After all he is one of the most sought after bachelors of town!!!!

Taani unknowingly blushed and moved towards AD's cabin but when she was going to enter she listened him firing on Yash and sacking him out! With some middle aged lady also being present there!!!! After a while that "Yash" person left with a sullen face and he finalized his schedule for the day with that lady who I think was his 'Mary Aunty" and he asked me to come in.

AD: So miss Taani!!!! How are u? Sorry For making you wait for so long!!!

He said with a smile but somehow after that yash scene Taani was damn nervous as she was a hard core confident girl but today don't know why she was feeling damn nervous and conscious.

Taani: It'.It's'.. It's OK sir! Was all she could say.

AD was amused whereas Mary aunty was smiling! Understanding Taani's state Mary aunty came to her rescue and said

Mary Aunty: don't be nervous beta!!! Anu is a workaholic and this company is like his first born!!! he can forgive any mistake but would never tolerate any one messing around with his this company! Not even me even though I am only his PA!

AD: Stop it Mary aunty! It was only one time when I shouted at you and that too I had apologized for it!!!! Now Kaafi introduction ho gaya!! Please guide her to her cabin and explain the job!

Mary aunty: sure AD.

Taani: thank u sir

AD: one more thing Taani I don't like being called sir!!! U can call me AD.!!OK?

Entire day maanvi was thinking about what had happened in the car and here Virat was too engrossed in his thinking about days events! He also

Somehow knew that what he feels for maanvi is more than the mere friendship and may be was love but was it really love or a mere infatuation which will fade with time!!!! He had seen many of his friends suffering from these broken relationships and the situations in which this mere confusion had lead to the worst ends of the relationship!!! But now he was sure that this is much more than mere friendship and he needs to accept this!

Virat***thinking***: Nahi Virat maanvi matters too u more than a friend and Taani is right I need to take this thing seriously!!! Earlier I was a bit hesitant because it was just a beginning of my career and I was struggling myself so wasn't ready for any commitment! Even now also kaun keh raha h k main kal hi usse shadi kar lun!? But at least I should tell her that I like her more than a friend or may be much more!!!! But before that I need to bridge the gap and the distance which these two years have created in between us!!!!

Maanvi was very happy and almost forgot about morning incident, when virat called and told her that he will be picking her up which brought her nervousness back all over again!!! Her train of thoughts was halted with screeching sounds of Virat's car. He seemed really happy and it seems that he was not at all affected with what had happened! Is he happy because he liked it?????? Or is he happy because it doesn't mean anything to him?????? This thought made her heart crush into pieces but her thoughts were broken by Virats question

Virat: so mannu!!! How was your day? Did u make any friends!????

Maanvi****trying to sound normal****: yeah the day was good and friends zyada to nahi bane but yeah I made few!!!!

Virat: I hope there aren't any boys in them!!!!***it was less a question more of a statement****

suddenly her mobile rang and she thanked god and her tannu for that timing

Maanvi:Diii'''.

Taani: Mannu????? Dear r u alright??????? How was your day???????

Maanvi : am f9 dii!!! And my day was also good!!! U tell me about yours'..

Maanvi just steered this conversation as she doesn't know what or how should she talk to Virat as she herself was confused with his behavior and here virat was getting hell frustrated with this behna thingyyy!!!! Here he wanted to spend some time, bridging gap but no yahan to "Ek hazaron mein" ka title track play ho raha h!

Maanvi first started this conversation with taani just to avoid Virat but gradually she started getting interested in knowing her di's blushy blushy mushy mushy situation! It was for the first time her Tannu was behaving in such a way and this was making her giggle continuously which was making taani to blush more and virat more irritated. Suddenly something striked him and he asked

Virat: Maanvi is it taani??????? Just give me a second I wanna talk to her!!!

Maanvi****Thinking, he was feeling annoyed a second before but now wants to talk to tannu?? , but gave him the phone****: Okayy'.

Virat: Hey taani!!!!!I am coming at your house for dinner!!! Your treat for this job is due!!!

Taani: Hey!!!Self inviting!!! Are we????? And is this a manner???You interrupted our conversation!!!Give my sis her phone back!!!

Virat***whispering***: samajh na yaar tu!!! I need to talk and it's important and i think u will be really happy after knowing it!!!

Taani: Ohkaayyy''..

Virat: Ok then will meet u tonite

Taani and virat were talking about random stuffs and maanvi was helping shivani in kitchen chores! Taking the advantage of Maanvi's absence Virat told Taani about all his feelings and decision which left tani shocked beyond limits! Not because she wasn't happy but because she was awestruck with the maturity virat was showing as it was not expected by him, at least from her side.

Taani: Virat!!!! Pinch me??????? are u serious!!!!

Virat: Yes I am very much!!!!!

Tani: Omg!!! Tell me again!!! I wanna listen that again!!!!

Virat: I said "I like u very much!!! And I think more than friend or even more"

Taani: Ohhh virat I cannt tell u how happy I am***while hugging Virat***!!! U r gonna say this to maanvi!!!! Ohhh come I cannt wait!!!!!

But they were unaware that two pairs of eyes accidently watched them but the thing which was making this more serious was that they heard only a partial conversation !!!!

Maanvi and Shivani listened to their convo

Taani: Ohhh virat I cannt tell u how happy I am!!!*******************

On one hand this shattered maanvi's entire world on the other hand served as a base of hoping for a bright future by shivani for her daughter!!!!

Maanvi connected all the behavior of Virat and his indifference after their encounter in the car to a reason that he feels nothing for her but for tannu whereas from shivani this news spread to the Vadhera's and Vinay like a wild fire where Vinay and Vanshika were quite doubtful about this shivani and Vijay were quite happy but on persuasion of Vanshika and vinay they kept this thing on hold but agreed to monitor them!

Here Virat and Taani were trying different ways out to make maanvi spend more and more time with Virat but she due to her misunderstanding always kept on avoiding which many a times irritated hell out of Virat but taani always handled the situation and made them spend time together!!!

This worked too!!! Both started getting close to each other it was everyday schedule of Pick and drop maanvi for college ,to have lunch together whenever they were free!!!

Their relationship slowly started getting the essence of intimacy!!! Those teasing and friendly touches were now not the same!!! But somewhere maanvi was not so sure even when many a times virat showed her indirectly that he feels for her but still whenever she wanted to believe her heart conversation of that night pulls her back!!!

It was 6 month later when one day Madan called and this served as a turning point to the lives of Virat and Maanvi specially Virat!!!

It was night and all the Vadhera's and malhotra's were having a small get together!!! Taani was working on a 3 months project with AD so she was out of station from last 15 days!!! So it was only virat and Maanvi!!! Virat was beyond happy as with taani here he felt like everytime there was a matron stuck with Maanvi but now he felt like a free bird but Maanvi's behavior from last two days was disturbing him a bit! Earlier in his proximity she used to blush or become nervous or shivered but now she seemed to be uncomfortable!!!She wasn't responding the way he wanted!!! And on top of that he was thinking of telling her about what he feels as he wasn't able to do so from last 6 months due to maanvi's distant behavior!!!

Today also so many times he tried to come close to her hold her hand, get some privacy but she literally ran away many a times!!!! Now all this was getting on his nerves and he decided that he will today clear that what's going on in her mind!!!!

His chain of thoughts were broken by Vinay

Vinay: Okay there is some happy and suprising news for all of us!!!

Vijay: Ohhhkaay!!!what is it????? Now let the curtains rise and tell us!!! During entire dinner the only thing u were doing was building up the suspense!!!

Virat: Yes uncle please tell us now!!!!

Vinay: Virat it's about your friend maanvi and is from her father!!!

Listening this maanvi's facial expression changed completely!! She was nervous and somewhat afraid.

This made virat really intrigued and his facial expression turned into a more serious, sarcastic and angrier one.

Virat: really uncle??????I sooo wanna listen!!!!

Here maanvi was sweating badly and was literally shivering

Maanvi: Uncle main kheer le kar aati hun!

Shivani : arey beta where are u going!!! Be with us!!! We will have kheer after listening this news!!!Kyun vinay?

Vinay: Obviously dear!!!

Virat***getting impatient***: tell na uncle what is the news!!!

Vinay: Ohhkkaayyy the news is that maanvi is getting engaged and that too in next 3 days!!!!

Maanvi just closed her eyes and all other were shocked

Virat***calming himself**** :I mean really!!!!!! Mannu u didn't tell me????

Maanvi: Main kheer lati hun!!!

She left making excuse leaving a more irritated Virat behind.

Vinay: actually Virat this thing occurred only two days back when madan put this proposal and maanvi too without any second thought agreed to it!

All this information was adding on to Virat's anger and on top of that Maanvi's ignorance!

With this taking a kheer bowl in his hand,

Virat: Woww mannu that's such a good news! And u didn't tell me!!! Come aaj to main tumhara apne haathon muh meetha karaunga!!!!

With this he started approaching towards maanvi but unable to bear his gaze she moved away from him or literally ran away from him leaving behind a fuming virat.

Virat: Lagta h she is getting shy but main to use congratulate kr k hi rahunga!

With this he left to maanvi's room without letting the elders know about his real feelings.

Here in maanvi's room

Maanvi ***while crying***: why virat ???? Why u r making it difficult for me?????????? It has been very difficult for me to keep myself away from you because I know how uncertain u can be and yours and di's relationship has just started blooming and I don't want to come in between u two and if I come close to u it will be impossible for me to let u go and for that I could do any thing which may result in hurting dii which would be the last thing in my life if even for a second I think about it!!!! It took me the courage of 100 warriors to agree to dad's proposal but it seems that this is the only way everything can be fine.

Suddenly she heard the door being locked and yes it was virat.

Virat:Uff kisine yaad kiya mujhe????***angry and passionate***

Maanvi: tumm'tumm ..yahan kyun?????

Virat: arey I wanted to congratulate u!!! u r getting engaged !!! itna to haq banta h!!***moving closer***

Maanvi***stuttering***: To' to .. u could have done it outside also!!! Coming here wasn't needed***maanvi kept moving backwards and virat towards her until he grabbed her hand roughly pulled it behind her back****

Maanvi: Aaah' Viraaattt'..

Virat: No Virat dear!!! With whom u r thinking that u r toying around haan!!!

Maanvi ***shrugging her hands from his grip*** : I am not toying around with any one any before pointing out on any one u should once look up at your self.

This made Virat angrier like hell

Virat: So r u trying to say I am toying around with people here?????

Maanvi ***moving towards door*** : Look Virat i am not saying anything and there isn't any point to talk about this ! I am getting engaged in 3 days and will be married soon this ends the discussion here ohkaay!!!! Now we should go I don't want any scene to be created here.

Saying this she moved out of the room leaving behind a determined Virat

Virat ***to himself***: engagement honi h maanvi hui nahi h!!! 3 din h abhi!!! Duniya to ek pal mein badal jati h 3 din mein to kuch bhi ho sakta h!!!

With this he too left the room, filled with a silence!!! Silence before a tornado!!!
