Hi everyone!!! I probably know a lot of you even if you don't know me 😆. Don't fear, I'm not stalking or anything. Annnways, I've always wanted to write an MM fic and considering that there are so few of those here, I thought I should try.

I had this story in mind and it fits (at least, in my mind, it does) two couples I really like currently. And because I'm not sure if this story will actually interest other people (because sometimes the story in my mind doesn't translate well on paper.. ), I've decided to post this (summary/character descriptions) in both threads to see which direction to take.. and more importantly, if the story is worth writing in the first place.. So let me know! Like or just leave a comment 😊

Unreachable

Short Summary: Asad agrees to marry the girl his mother chose because he believes love is an illusion that he can conjure up with any girl that meets his criteria. On the other side, we have Zoya who comes to India for a year and learns of her cousin's wedding to the guy she loves. And this guy is someone she knows...

Megha is a twenty-two year old simple minded girl who stayed abroad for almost 10 years. While she is innocent in matters of love, she isn't idealistic or naive. And she is definitely, more on the conservative side. She loves her family and considers them the most important part of her life. Love, according to her, is something precious that she would like to experience one day with the right guy.

But exactly how special does it have to be for her to defy her family and rules?

Mohan is a care-free guy who recently graduated and joined his father's business. He respects his family but follows his own logic to achieve what he wants. He is stubborn and usually knows how to get his own way in things. Love, according to him, is nothing special and can be easily manufactured with the right elements under the right conditions.

However, why is it that when everything was right - in fact, picture perfect - his heart refuses to play the part?

So they met,

...when he was her cousin's fianc.

...when she didn't know who he was.

And this is their story.

Thanks for commenting and also for the likes! I thought I posted this before.. but apparently I didn't.. Anyways, read and let me know what you think about it! 😊

Chapter 1
Megha's POV
There was a phone ringing and the tune of Moonlight Sonata played in the room. I shuffled around in the messy bed trying to find that said phone. Finally I found it under the pile of clothes.
"Hello!" It was my mother on the other line.
"Ma! how are you?"
"How's your finals?" I settled down on the bed to talk comfortably. She calls me every other day to talk about her day and mine. We often talk about random things about our day like what happened in a serial or what happened to her friend or my friend. There is also a reason behind this call - she worries too much. She would have high blood pressure worrying about everything if I didn't call to let her know I'm safe, alive and eating well. But because my exams were around, I didn't call for a week. My schedule was study till 3, sleep till 12 and eat when needed.
"Good." As good as it can be.
"So were you cleaning?" How does she know that?
"Yes, yes, I was." I replied. My room becomes disorganized when I'm studying. And then right after I finish, I can't sleep without cleaning up everything and having it in tip-top shape.
"Did you know Arohi is getting married in a few months? She has someone she likes. Isn't it surprising that nobody knew?" But before I could reply she started talking again..
"Her personality does feel like she would have someone though.." She chuckled. I wasn't too shocked at the reason because I knew with her charming personality, no boy would say no to her. She was outgoing and very fashionable to. On top all that, she was a pretty good student. A person who every girl envies to be. Seems like she'll be like that till the end.
"I'm not saying it's bad. It's good and she also chose a very good guy. He graduated from a good university and is running his dad's business alongside him. Isn't it impressive?"
"Ma.. " I shook my head even though she can't see it. The business and degrees can tell only so much, the most important thing is his personality.
"I wish you would find someone like him..." She trailed off wistfully. I heard my dad say something to her.
"...what do you know, may be she already has?"
"No she doesn't.. if she did, she would've told me!" was my mother's reply.
"Right, Megha?"
"Right, you'll be the first person to know." Err.. the second, because I would have to tell him first once I'm lucky enough to find him.
We talked a few more minutes about how impressive the guy was and how wonderful the wedding would be. Apparently, the whole extended family has already met him and the wedding is set for December. He already has been invited to everyone's house, my house included. I don't know.. my mother seems especially fond of him.
A guy who joined his father's business - how is he impressive?! Even without the degree from the great university, he would've joined the company anyways. And when I said that to my mother and she said I was jealous. She was funny. But from the whole 15 minutes conversation solely dedicated to him, the only thing I could gather was he was charming and easily flattered everyone in my family. The type I hate the most. Those who flatter everyone at the drop of a hat is someone who can't be trusted. I was thankful when the conversation finally stirred towards something else.
"When is you flight?"
"This Sunday."
"Good thing you will be here for the wedding." Of course! So she can temp me to have one myself. Too bad she doesn't understand I need a groom first to get married.
"Not in a hurry to get married.." I answered. I want to marry someone I love. I'm not fooling enough to expect a legendary love like in the movies - I'm not that idealistic - I just wish to find a person who understands me. My parents, my cousins, my friends have found it, so why can't I? It's not impossible.
"Meghaaa!!!" I snapped out from my inner monologue.
"Yea, I'm here. I'm getting sleepy. I'll call you before my flight okay?" I yawned and started cleaning everything.
-----------------
Mohan's POV
"I'll pick something up. There should be lots of shops in the airport." Mohan looked around the airport trying to locate a jewelry shop.
"You didn't buy it before? Monu!!! I reminded you more than once!! You boys are so irresponsible! She is your fianc and you're getting her something from those airport shops? " His mother was getting exasperated on the other side.
"Sunna! I didn't come to Hong Kong to buy her stuff. And these shops sell expensive stuff. So, don't worry I'll get something good." He smiled. It's no big deal. Girls are easy to please.
"Give some thought? Don't just buy whatever.." She entreated again.
"Maaa! Can I hang up now? My flight is in an hour and half."
"Bye."
I don't know what kind of thought to give? I'll just get something since I have to.
----------------
Megha's POV
"Hello, Ma? I am in Hong Kong airport and I am waiting for my flight. I don't know if I can call after I check in, so I'm leaving the voice mail. Why didn't you pick up? I'll be there in about 6 hours! Bye!"
I checked in and an announcement came:
We have a technical issue with Flight no. 1354. We apologize for the inconvenience but please wait at the gate and we'll keep you updated on the situation.
I sighed. Something had to go wrong.
There was a bustling about in the waiting section as some passengers went to the airport authorities to check whatever was going on and how long it will take. Thankfully I was sitting with a bunch of university students on a trip who didn't seem affected by it. In fact, they got back to whatever they were discussing as soon as the announcement was over. Suddenly one of them exclaimed, "We need more opinions!"
I looked at them and suddenly the whole group was staring at me. "Indian?" I smiled and nodded.
"Are you single?" I frowned at the unusual question but nodded. Before, I could process what they wanted, they turned their attention to the someone on the row behind ours.
"And you? Indian right? Are you in love?" Reflexively, my attention was on the guy as well. He was around my age and dressed too casually for a business trip. A college student or a solo vacation maybe?
He laughed in response and said no.
"Can we ask you a favor? We need an outside perspective." The representative of the group, a girl in early twenties looked at us with pleading eyes.
"Ah.. sure!" I said without thinking what I was agreeing to. Seems like we both agreed to something we shouldn't have.

brilliant ! just go ahead with it .. who knows SS might like it and take it up for a Season 3 story ..so just go ahead and give regular updates ! 😉

just a thing i would like to point out here .. Megha is 22, while Mohan can be less than 25 since he 'just graduated'. umm, dont you think they are too young, their ages can be raised to Megha= 25ys and Mohan= less than 30 yrs ? i think that would suit them more .. just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply! I'm glad you like it. Haha I hope SS3 has much better writing than mine though. Everything sound good in my head, but after writing it down, I feel something is missing.

I also thought about the ages, in my story, it is actually 24 for Megha and 25 for Mohan. Honestly, I keep seeing them in this undefined 'old' age in the series that I wanted to make them young. And also, since I made it she came back after finishing her studies, I kind of went with that.. Thanks for the suggestion though. 😊

Hi, everyone! Thanks for the responses. They made me happy. I'm usually planning to update once or twice a week.. but let's see how it goes.

I forgot to say the ages of the two, or rather the three involved. I'm kind of tired seeing them so 'old' (at least conceptually) in the drama, so they're kind of young here. Hope you don't mind! Megha- 24, Mohan- 25, Arohi- 24 (but older than Megha).

Chapter 2

Megha's POV

"What is love?" A student asked me.

"Once you find it, you should cherish it forever." Because in this crowded place, there is someone made just for you - my philosophy.

A few students agreed with me. Then they turned they asked the same question to the guy, Mohan Bhatnagar. He seemed easygoing enough. But he shook his head and leaned forward with his answer.

"It's a figment of imagination that people make up to be happy in their lives. If love was destiny, people wouldn't get divorced or break up. You can easily fall in love just by being around each other." He said as a matter of fact. I looked shocked that someone could not believe in love to that extent.

"That's not true. You can't force yourself to fall in love just because. And the break ups-"

"Wait." He interrupted and came to sit beside me. "Just play along for a moment."

I wasn't sure what he was doing but he asked for my hand. I hesitated but his smile seemed harmless enough that I did as he asked.

It was a little awkward because of the silence because he just stared at me. I felt self-conscious at his stare which really could only be described as weird. The rest of the group waited with bated breath as I avoided looking at his eyes for a few more seconds but then I had to to stop this... torture.

The crowded, loud airport blended into the background. His eyes never strayed from mine no matter how many times I avoided his gaze. It would be creepy if it was anyone else but he managed to look friendly and may be even... something else.

"I understand you. Sometimes people want to get lost in the crowd not because they want to blend In, but because they want someone to find them in that crowd. I know I am that person fro you. I will be that person for you, I promise."

He squeezed my hand lightly. I don't know how long it was when the announcement suddenly came up again and I abruptly pulled hand away from his. He looked a little dazed. Probably he had been staring at me for so long. How long it was again?

It took a few second to understand what was going on. The announcement ended but it seemed like we were ready to get on the plane.

"Wow, man. That was amazing." One of the guy from the group said to Mohan.

"Movie lines.. You just pick the right one and you're set." He answered and smirked at my direction. Shameless guy!

Then one of the girls scooted towards me. "That looked so real! I totally believed him. Come on, I know you did to.. Even for just a second?"

I denied vehemently. But it was true that I believed him. In my defense, it was only a split second. This was also because he got lucky with his pickup line because I've thought about it before.

I've hard of players but I never thought someone would be that disgusting as to play with someone else's feelings to prove a point. And it was stupid of me to fall for such a trick. I feel ashamed of me.

Mohan's POV

She was refusing to look at me now.I didn't think she would get that mad. It was my first time actually putting my theory into practice, so I didn't think the result will favor me this well. Even I was surprised. As everyone lined up to go inside the airplane, I lost her in the crowd. Also because all the guys of that group kept blocking my way to ask me how did that.

Actually, it was a little unexpected. She obviously wasn't the beautiful girl I ever met but as she kept avoiding my gaze, I wanted her to look at me. And when she finally relented, she had this sweet stubbornness about her. She was self-conscious, but she was determined to not let me win in whatever I was doing.

She first caught my attention when we were waiting for the gates to open. She was reading some book. She seemed like someone who wanted to just blend in into the crowd but she would occasionally look up from her book and scan her surroundings leisurely. I came to the conclusion that she either found the mundane airport beautiful or she might be looking for someone. Good thing I was behind her, otherwise, she might've seen me too.

That's why I said that stupid line. It slipped out. It was probably from a movie because I can't possibly come up with something like that.

I looked around once again. Nope, still couldn't see her. Where did she disappear to...

Thanks!! I'm happy you liked it! What I had in mind was much more filmy but Meghan scenes always have a very understated vibe and quietness to it..
