Khushi finally decided to meet shyam and confront him about to move on in his life as she now loves arnav not him and she wanted to live her life peacefully with arnav.
Hope shyam didn't trouble her much in future
Love the arnav and khushi driving scene a lot.
poor arnav she wake him up at 12 and insisted for driving
only arnav will do it for khushi. He care and loves her so much and now he is nervous of his date

Chapter 19 : It's A Date!

It was 8pm. Arnav was half excited and very nervous. He had no idea what to expect. He called his secretary in to find out what she got. She came in and kept the packets she had brought. Arnav asked her to leave. Arnav saw a bouquet of yellow roses. "Khushi may misinterpret the yellow roses. I don't want any misunderstanding. If she is taking the first step I should buy red ones.. I have to give her red roses!" Next he pulled out a saree. It was a green saree. "Khushi likes blue. Not green. Not this either." He said keeping it aside. He took out a box of chocolates. "She likes Hersheys. She hates lindt!" he said freaking out. He went through the things and nothing was according to what Khushi liked. He went out in a hurry handing over all the packets to his secretary and saying, "Keep it!"

He sat in the car at 8:10pm and drove to the nearest florist first. He picked up a roses, which Khushi loved. Then he went to the chocolate shop nearby and bought a box of hersheys. He looked at the time after that. 8:35pm. He stood there thinking if he should get a present of just go home now. 'I should go get her a present.' He told himself. No no. She will get angry. I am already late. I think she would prefer if I reach on time atleast. And thus, he drove home.

'Really? Even today he couldn't come on time? Come fast Arnav, I have been waiting for so long now. I can't wait for our first date.' Khushi thought looking at the clock. 8:45pm. Khushi looked at the candles she had lit on the table and the food that was waiting to be eaten on the table. She had done everything according to how Arnav liked it. She had made Indian food and took out champagne and even wore a saree. Everything was perfect except for one thing. Arnav wasn't here.

At 8:50 the doorbell rang and Khushi took a deep breath and then opened the door. "Hi," she said looking at Arnav. "Hi," he said apprehensively. He expected her to shout but she was occupied with the things in Arnav's hand. Arnav moved forward and gave it to her saying, "Thank you for being my wife." "You are thanking me for being your wife by giving me chocolate?" she laughed. "I didn't get time to buy an actual present. Not if I wanted to reach here on time. I --I am sorry." He said. "Well, you are not on time." "I know. Mumbai traffic. You know..." "Excuses. Excuses." She said. "You look beautiful." He said trying to change the topic. "Thank you. Do you want to go change?" she asked. "Nope. I'm always ready, remember?" he said with a small smile unsure of what else to say. "Although, I am hungry." He said taking in the aroma of the food.

"I made Indian food for you." She said proudly, walking towards the dinning table. Arnav pulled Khushi's chair for her and then seated himself. "So ASR, how was your day?" she asked serving the sabji. "It wasn't so great until the afternoon when I was invited on my first date." He said grinning. Khushi had arranged the table and dimmed the lights. The candles were the only source of light in the room, just enough for them to see each other. "NO way!" Khushi exclaimed, "FIRST date?" she asked again. Arnav nodded, "In a very long time, yes. But the first one with my wife." He said. Khushi didn't know what to say. "How many dates have you been to?" Arnav said changing the subject. Looking at Khushi all this nervousness had gone and it was an ordinary dinner with his wife. Just like always. He hoped that they could just always be like this. Forever. Khushi coughed as soon as Arnav asked his question. Arnav gave her some water. She took a deep breath when Arnav asked her again, "How many Khushi?" She cleared her throat, thought for a few seconds and then said, "A few. What about you?" "A few." He said winking. Khushi laughed and Arnav joined in. Khushi's looked at Arnav with love and affection in her eyes, 'How can a man be so perfect? I am so lucky to have him as my husband. What did I do to deserve such a great man. My feelings are changing so rapidly that it's hard to keep up. Suddenly it seems like this has been my home since forever and Arnav has always been the one for me. My better half, actually m perfect half.' Khushi thought.

Arnav and Khushi dined and spoke freely, "The food is fantastic!" Arnav said after finishing the dinner. "Thanks," Khushi said with a broad smile. "Khushi, Thank you," Arnav said. "For what?" "For making an effort. I know after everything that's happened its difficult for you to--"No Arnav. It isn't. You make it so easy. It's so comfortable to around you. I feel safe and happy whenever your there. I don't need anything more." Khushi expressed. Arnav smiled on the outside but on the inside he was jumping and dancing and singing. His heart was overwhelmed by her words. She used "Safe" and "happy" and that was all he ever wanted. Arnav was happy. He was secure too now.

"So Arnav, what do you like about me? Since we are on a date, we should talk like people do on first dates." Arnav smiled a little. He didn't know where to start. He was so blank. He wasn't used to sharing his thoughts. "I--I-- like everything about you." He said. "The way you said it seemed like you don't like anything about me," she joked, "One thing." She said. "Alright, I love that you always think about the people you love before you, the courage you show to protect them. You can bear any pain just to protect your own people. I admire how you handle everything so well - the house, your classes, and you still call me in time to ask if I have eaten lunch! Your smile is beautiful and I love that you talk in your sleep." He said in one breath. Khushi blushed as her heart was overwhelmed by those words. She needed to hear these words.

"I don't talk in my sleep." She stated. "You actually do, I noticed it a few weeks ago actually, you kept saying, first the salt, no NK first you put the salt in otherwise the potatoes won't have any taste. Salt first then you take them out and make the gravy." He laughed. "What?" Khushi flushed. She was kind of embarrassed. "What else did you hear?" she asked. "This one time you were talking to me in your dreams and telling me all about some trip to Paris you just came from and how beautiful everything was." "Okay stop!" Khushi said feeling really embarrassed. "You cannot listen to me when I talk in my sleep. Just sleep at night please!" she said. "I can't help it okay!" he said in his defense. "Fine. Whatever, change the topic!" she said. "You know you are adorable Khushi Singh Raizada." He said mesmerized. Khushi blushed. There was something about Arnav which she just couldn't understand. She loved everything about the man and still didn't realize it.

"Alright. So now it's your turn. You do have atleast one thing to say about me right?" he asked. 'I could talk all day,' Khushi thought. "I have a lot to say. I love the way you take care of me and you always think of me before you. You never tell me no for anything and you eat whatever I make even if you don't like it. You are hardworking, a little too much of that, but you are sincere and honest. You are everything I would like to be. You are so perfect." She said. "And I love the way you talk." She added. "What?" Arnav laughed. "I mean, your voice." She said laughing. "I don't like my voice." "I do. Especially when you say 'Khushi'" She mimicked Arnav. Arnav laughed. "Khushi," he said. Khushi blushed. "Khushi" he repeated. "Arnav stop it." "Khushi," he said again. "Arnav!" "Khushi!" he laughed. "You suck!" she said getting up from the table. "Khushi!" Arnav said following her. "Stop teasing me." She said. "Khushi." He repeated. Khushi went upstairs saying, "You can sleep in the guest room today." Arnav followed Khushi upstairs saying, "Khushi wait."

"Khushi," Arnav said knocking on the door, "Open the door." "No. You can sleep in the other room and keep saying my name." she said, "serves you right!" "Sorry Khushi, I was just pulling your leg." There was silence. "Khushi , I said sorry." He said knocking again. Khushi opened the door. "Never do that again." She said letting him in. "Okay," he said, "Khushi." He added laughing. Khushi groaned and then went to the bathroom to change.

"Khushi," Arnav said as they lay in bed. "Arnav, it's not funny anymore." She said irritated. "No, I wanted to tell you something!" "Oh," she said. "I haven't told you something about my past." He said. She waited for him to say it, 'it can't be worse than mine.' She thought. "I wasn't a very nice person in college." He said. "What do you mean?" she asked. She had always thought of Arnav as the perfect man. "Mamaji and Mamiji were very lenient. They never really stopped us from doing anything. Till school, I was okay. I took sometime to get over my parent's death but in college, it was the first time I was living alone. I was out of control in my first year in the US," he said, "I was lonely and I hated it. I didn't have anyone to talk to. So I started to drink and smoke." He said. "I would hang out with the popular gang and do all sorts f rubbish."

"When I told you that I dated a few, that wasn't a few. I only dated one girl before you. But," he paused, "I had other relationships with girls," he said. Khushi was shocked. The Arnav in front of her was so good. She just couldn't believe that he used to be that way. She just couldn't picture it. He carried on, "I slept with them just for fun and I was very--"I get it." Khushi said, not wanting to hear the details. She knew it was hard for him to say all those things. "In my second year, I met his girl. She was smart, intelligent and sweet. I used to sit next to her." He gulped. "Anjali, the only girl I dated before you." He said. "She changed me. She changed the way I thought. She helped me reach my dream. She completely transformed me into the man I am today." He said. Khushi didn't know what to think. "Was it serious?" she asked. "What?" he asked. "Your relationship." "I would be lying if I said no." "What happened?" she asked. "She had her own dreams, her own goals and I had my own. She stayed in Dubai and I had to come back here. It wouldn't work long distance, so we ended it." He said calmly prepared to answer all his questions.

"Do you still miss her?" Khushi asked. "I don't know. I thought of her when you said 'so it's a date' on the phone." "Do you still--"Not at all." He knew what her question would be. Khushi was completely shaken up. Not because Arnav had had a girlfriend in college, but because she just realized that she hadn't known the real him. She didn't know this major chunk of his life. "Arnav, the girls you slept with... what about them?" "Khushi, don't ask me about them. I lived in the US all by myself and there were always girls around. I drank and smoked so much that half the time I didn't know where I was or who I was with. I barely even knew the names of the girls I slept with. I was a mess, and that is the only phase of my life I'm ashamed of. I know I should have told you all this before we got married but I had left all this behind. I had changed so much that I can't even think of the man I was earlier." Khushi's whole image of Arnav had changed suddenly. He wasn't as perfect as she thought he was. He had a dark side too. But it didn't matter, she knew that. Now, he was 100 times the man he used to be and that was enough for her. She was, although, wondering about Anjali. Who was she? Where is she? Khushi wondered why Arnav never mentioned her, not even once. She was jealous and it hurt her when he said that she was the reason for his transformation.

"Why did you tell me today?" she asked. "Because I thought about it today, in office. I thought you should know. You said I was honest and perfect, I am not all that perfect Khushi." He said. Khushi didn't know what to tell him. "I understand if you need time to take in everything," he added, "But that's my truth." "You know what?" she said, "We both have had our pasts and its all in the past so why bother about it now? When your past enters our present, like mine did, we can discuss about it then. And I trust you, the Arnav I know is perfect and will always be." She said. Arnav smiled. Khushi moved closer to Arnav, kept her head on his arm and slept.

Hey Everyone 🤗 Wondering what is wrong with me? What now? Why am I adding this now? Because no one is perfect. No one is white. Everyone has a shade of grey. As my quote reads, Every saint has a past and every criminal a future so we can just judge them by how they are NOW. Arnav is a changed man so why can't Shyam change? Khushi herself has evolved so much since she got married. She has changed.

People change. Feelings don't. 😳
