Neelu Waghela, who plays 'bhabho', a control-freak mother-in-law in 'Diya Aur Baati Hum', is not at all like her character in real life. Having acted in over 50 Rajasthani films, Neelu is married with two children — a daughter and a son — and loves to relax in western outfits at home.
Neelu says, "I have no such restrictions from my in-laws and my 'saas' is not at all like 'bhabho'. She stays in Rajasthan and we do follow the values and discipline that my character portrays. I cook and make my in-laws happy whenever I visit them. But I don't wear saris at home like my character. I am an educated woman, who has been brought up in Mumbai."
Neelu, who stays in a joint family, says she would never be a typical bhabho to her daughter-in-law. She says, "Those days are gone. When people talk to me, they have this perception that I would be a very strict person in real life. On the contrary, I am soft-spoken and emotional. In fact, my husband ( Arvind Kumar) is the 'bhabho' in my family."
