My dear Kunchu,
A gentle chapter, full of yearnings half fulfilled.
Arjun's desperate longing for a renewed link, no matter how tenuous, with the love of his life. Aisha sensing, in an almost telepathic fashion, that there was something or someone very close to her in the sound of breathing at the other end of the phone.
The description of the unbelievably strong bond between these two - the one can sense a presence behind silence, and the other can derive emotional sustenance from a single word spoken by his beloved ' is beautiful in its touching simplicity.
Then, Sakshi constantly on the lookout for ways to coax Arjun out of his self-imposed isolation, even if only ever so little, and delighted at the bit of progress she has achieved today in getting him to at least consider coming out into the open. Finally, Aman wanting to make Aisha happy, to whatever extent possible.
Each of these moves some distance towards his or her goal, but is still very far from getting there.
And then another mystery, that of the death of the original Aryan Varma. 'Brutally killed', but how? And by whom?
Finally, what is Arjun hiding from his baba? It is a very telling and mysterious sentence: Maybe living with a lie that didn't hurt much was better than living with a painful truth.
You have so many balls in the air here, Kunchu, but I am sure you will be dexterous enough not to let any of them fall to the ground.

Dear Kunchu.
Short, but this chapter gave me back someone who, as soon as I saw her again, reminded me of how much I had missed her. Arjun's Aisha.
Her all consuming love for him, which stands fast in the face of the general consensus about Arjun's fate, which never flags or grows weary of separation, which can sustain itself on memories. Memories laid away in lavender, and as sweet smelling, as delicate, and as lasting. The part about the wedding photo is one such, and I could practically feel Aisha blossoming in the grip of that particular memory.
The end is a shocker, and it lifts the veil on a small corner of the mystery as yet surrounding the connection between Mr. Varma and Arjun turned Aryan. Who was trying to strangle Arjun in the ICU when Mr. Varma came in at the crucial time and , obviously killed the attacker. But the veil is lifted only slightly, and most of it is still obscure. But that is as it should be.

Dear Kunchu,
On starting with this chapter, I felt at once as if I had lifted a muddy stone in the lane and seen a sickening lot of creepy crawlies underneath.
The whole long passage about Aryan and Dr.Varma, so uncomplicated, so full of simple affection, so gentle in the way the narrative flows, is like a scented garden full of the light and warmth of the sun. Then comes the reference to Shankar's fatal accident, and one feels as if the bright sky has darkened inexplicably and a cold finger is travelling up one's spine. The impact of that innocuous statement, and the awful meaning the lies hidden behind it ' they lurk in the darkness like demons ready to pounce on the unwary reader. We need to fasten our seatbelts for rough weather ahead, for I remember that Aryan was 'brutally killed' in Mumbai.
The explosion of Aisha's anger, frustration and deep grief at the very idea of Arjun being declared dead by his own department ' it comes thru with as much ferocity as pathos. And in the end, it goes to prove the old adage, that no man is dead as long as he lives on in the minds and hearts of those who love (not loved) him.
I did wonder about Commissioner Coelho displaying such abysmal timing for such an unfeeling announcement, and even more about someone being shifted from the Missing in Action category that of the dead with such indecent and irregular haste. In war, all such cases are declared dead only after the standard 7 years, which is also the legal requirement. How then does it become just 2 years for the Mumbai Police?
Lastly, I am delighted with the genuine friendship that has developed between Sakshi and Arjun, so refreshingly different from the juvenile and highly irritating squabbles, which today took a very nasty turn, between their on screen counterparts. I infinitely prefer your versions, Kunchu!
Sakshi's wedding anniversary present for Arjun is as sweet and endearing as it is imaginative, but what on earth would all these characters have done in the pre-mobile era?
Finally, back in Room 121 of the Ravi Lodge, Aisha is back with her virtual beloved, and we too are, for that moment, at peace with ourselves and the world.

thank you all who liked and commented the story.
a small note:
@Aunty: sorry I didnt know that there was a time lag of 7 years for the person to be declared dead. It's a mistake from my part. well, let it go along with my fiction. And btw, 7 years would have been too much for me and my Aisha,😉

Of course, Kunchu. Why else do you suppose they coined the term 'literary licence'?

And it is not 'liked', my dear, at least not for me. It should be 'loved'.

Hey dear..

I'm back and it was an absolute treat to read four parts in one go! Commenting on them together, since I'm too overwhelmed at the moment.. 😊

So far I have deduced that Arjun is hurt.. And is undergoing treatment.. Maybe paralysed or something along those lines? Just a guess.. And Dr. Varma is his doctor and caretaker..
Aryan happened to be his son who probably died years ago, but I'm lookin forward to how that is connected to the present or is it just that Arjun reminds him of his son.

Aman.. I'm so glad he's frankly spoken to Rathore and Aisha about whatever it was and his notions.. Hopefully all's well on that front now on.. Don't know why, but I am counting on him along with Sakshi to be the ones to bring our lonely and despaired couple closer in a way or two.. Let's see..

Sakshi.. How I love her for being the way she is in the story.. 😊 Exactly what Arjun and Aisha both needed.. Someone who has witnessed both sides of the story and knows the whole picture..
Her silently consoling Aisha and friendly advise and banters with Arjun have given me immense hope.. Those little things she does for him like sending her picture and making him hear her voice were heartwarming..
I'm glad in the midst of so much pain and darkness, he's found a ray of light..

Arjun and Aisha.. My heart goes out to them.. Especially the last update.. I was numb at the end of it.. Her breakdown and Arjun's silent tears struck a chord somewhere which is difficult to describe in words..

Him being pronounced dead in front of her eyes, that too on a reminder of the day when she was bound to him for life must indeed be very cruel and I can only imagine a woman's pain at that.. And you, my dear have managed to portray it flawlessly and so poignantly..

Hats off to you for having achieved that with every part so far.. 👏

I know, I should be patient and wait for you to unfold the story at your own pace, but I can't stop myself from asking you to unite the two forlorn lovers soon..
'Aur saha nahi jayega..' 😭

Commendable and brilliant work dear.. 😊

Thanks for the regular PM's and do continue soon..
