Sharon, for a moment got skeptical of her decision. Was she doing the right thing by telling him the truth? What if he didn't feel the same? She had fallen in love for the first time and she neither wanted to impose her feelings on him nor wanted to be in such a relationship where one person wasn't happy.
"Actually... Nothing." She said.
"No no please tell me." Swayam could see she was hesitant about telling him something.
Sharon felt like a little girl. How stupid of her, to just randomly call him to office early and tell him how she felt. She wanted to kick herself for coming up with such a foolish idea. He would think she was some giddy teenager now. To think she had come all dressed up to office just to impress how. Ugh, how dumb could she get?
"No seriously it's nothing. I had some problem but I got it sorted out. Sorry about calling you here early." Sharon desperately wanted the floor to open up and swallow her in. She didn't look up at him even once.
Swayam realized that something was wrong. Why was Sharon â the confident, smart girl acting soâŚconfused?
"You should know I am always going to be there to listen to you if you want to tell me anything." Swayam said softly, in a voice which caused Sharon to jerk her head up and look at him in surprise. She gulped, looking deep into those eyes. Those eyes and that voice suddenly infused within her a strength she had never ever felt before.
"Ok you want to know? Then I'll tell you." She said, firmly.
Swayam nodded, waiting for her to continue speaking.
"You know, since childhood I've always been considered super smart and geeky which made me feel really over confident. That's probably the reason why I hardly had any friends. People don't find themselves comfortable talking to someone who is always correcting them. But I guessâŚwhen I met you that changed. You were the first person who treated me..well like you were the better one. And I guess I needed that sort of treatment. Because when I'm with you I feelâŚ." Sharon realized she was going on and on without waiting for him to react.
She looked at his face, trying to gauge his reaction. But he was just staring at her, with his mouth slightly open.
"Swayam?"
"Sharon, I-I can't believe itâŚI-"
"Well you MUST believe it. I love you Swayam. This feeling is one which I am facing for the very first time. You have to believe me when I say that with you I feel loved, I feel complete, I feel happy. You make me happy, Swayam." She said, on the verge of tears.
Swayam didn't know what to say. Of course, he loved her. But he had never , not even in his wildest dreams, thought that Sharon would be confessing her love for him.
"Sharon.I-I-"
"Do you love me too?"
"Yes, I love you. A lot."
Sharon looked down and began crying. That was probably the first time she was ever crying in public. She couldn't believe it herself. But she couldn't stop herself either. Tears streamed down her face. Tears of happiness.
Swayam had, in less than a minute, enveloped her in his arms and began stroking her hair.
The two of them stood like that for a long time, Swayam in his formal clothes â a blue shirt and black pants and Sharon in her blazer and skirt.
Sharon leaned against Swayam's chest. The tears had stopped but she didn't want the moment to end. She hugged Swayam back tightly, as if never wanting to let him go.
"Swayam, you're the only one whom I feel free with it, whom I feel myself with it." She said slowly into his chest.
Swayam replied by slowly kissing her hair. He knew this was the time she would want to let out all the pent up emotion inside her.
"I was so lonely for such a long time. Even my sister couldn't fill up the void which you have. I love you." She repeated. She didn't know if what she was saying was even making any sense. But she knew HE would listen to her and understand her and that was all she cared about.
"I love you too Sharon. I love you so much that you can't even imagine. You're the one who turned this little mamma's boy into a hardworking, enthusiastic man." He said, breathing into her jet black hair. "If it wasn't for you I would probably still have been sitting at home all day, eating and ordering people around. Or even worse, sitting at work and doing absolutely nothing productive. Which I still don't think I do." He said.
Sharon couldn't help but laugh.
"So you really think I don't do anything productive?" Swayam said, trying to sound hurt.
"I never said that!" Sharon giggled.
"Uh huh, sure you didn't.But I know what you're thinking."
Sharon kissed him gently on the cheek. His eyes went wide open.
"You do know what I'm thinking , don't you?" She said, running her hands through his hair.
Swayam closed his eyes, taking in the feeling slowly. He was ecstatic. His dream had come true! Sharon loved him!
A loud noise woke the two up out of their dreamland.
Someone had just walked in and in haste, banged the door shut really loudly.
Swayam and Sharon immediately jumped away from each other, blushing deeply. After all work is not the best place to talk about love.
Swayam quietly grabbed Sharon's hand and pulled her into his office, shutting the door behind him.
He pushed her gently against the wall and brought his face closer to hers. Unfortunately for him, Sharon pushed him away harshly.
"Hey, c'mon!"
"No Swayam it's time for work now."
"Oh please, nobody can see us inside my office."
"Yes but I can't be caught spending my time like this now can I?"
"I practically own this place. Nobody can dare to say anything."
"Correction â Your dad does. And plus I have a lot of pending work to complete."
"Please?"
"Evening ok? You can drop me home tonight, ok?"
Swayam sighed unhappily.
"Alright then," he said. "But I'll keep making excuses to call you in here." He grinned.
Sharon blushed and playfully pushed him aside.
"Bye now."
"Bye my love." He said , trying to get one more kiss out of her.
Wicked little Sharon simply ignored him and walked out.
Swayam scratched his head in frustration. He was going to have a tough time taming the shrew.
Once work was done, Swayam hurried to Sharon's cabin to pick her up.
She was still sitting at her computer, toiling away.
He sneaked up to her and gently blew into her ear.
"Eeks" Sharon said, shivering. She turned around and hugged him.
"Dinner?"
"Nope, I can't I promised Mom I would come home early tonight and have dinner with the fam. They have something to discuss."
"Awww shucks are you kidding me?"
"No baby. I'm serious. Sorry?" Sharon said, pouting.
Swayam's heart melted at the sight of that beautiful face of hers.
"Alright then. I'm dropping you home."
"Ok." Sharon said, packing her briefcase. Swayam began checking his phone. A chuckle escaped his lips.
"What happened?"
"Rey just messaged me saying Kria's asked him to meet her tomorrow. He wants to know what he should wear."
"Oh so does Rey like Kria too?"
"Wait, you mean Kria likes Rey! Oh, he'll be super happy!"
"Yes she keeps talking about him. But don't tell him as yet, let her tell him herself."
"Haha that's a good idea!"
"Come on, let's go, it's getting late."
Swayam dropped Sharon off to her house. She gave him a good bye kiss before heading towards the building.
"I'm homeee" She shouted happily. No response.
She walked into the living room and found her parents and Kria sitting opposite each other. Her father had a stern expression on his face. Her mother was looking down. Kria meanwhile, was on the verge of crying.
"What happened here?" Sharon said jokingly.
Her father gave her a look. Sharon shut up immediately.
"We here have found a perfect boy for Kria. And she is now having problems with that! She wants to take her own decision! Arre it's not every day that we find boys like him waiting to marry her."
Sharon looked at Kria. But she just kept staring down, trying to control her tears.
"Who is this guy but?" Sharon asked her father.
