I had been toying with this idea ever since I saw the Shantanu and KASinterview last year where they mentioned how they would love sitting on Marine Drive and getting wet in the rain! The OS is more of a fun OS, not romantic. I hit a dead end as soon as I began writing it.So it hasn't come out well. Plus the title isnt very creative either😛But I hope you'll like it !😊 This OS is specially for my "kumbh ke mele mein bichdi hui behen"😆

Swayam placed his credit card next to the bill and handed it to the waiter. He noticed Sharon looking through him, at the grey sky outside. The monsoons were expected any minute now. The first shower of the year. Swayam turned around in his seat to look outside as well.
It was beautiful sight to see. They were lunching at a restaurant which offered a spectacular view of Marine Drive. The waves continuously crashed against the rocks as the grey waters of the Arabian Sea merged with the grey monsoon clouds in the sky.
And then it began. Small droplets turned into hard pelts of water which crashed against people's excited bodies. It was the first rain of 2013.
An over-enthusiastic Swayam jumped off his seat and grabbed Sharon's hand.
"Marine Drive and rains! How perfect can this get Sharon?" He said happily, sounding like a 5 year old kid in a candy store.
Sharon stared at him, confused. So did the waiter, who had brought back the credit card.
"What happened? Don't you want to go out and enjoy in the rain?!" Swayam asked, surprised.
"No! Of course not! Why would I want to get myself wet. Besides, the first rain is like acid rain anyway. It brings down all the toxics along with it." Sharon replied.
Swayam rolled his eyes.
"Don't tell me you've never come to Marine Drive during the monsoons?"
"Uh'no'"
"So then it's time you do it. C'mon!"
"But I don't wanna get wet!"
"I'm not telling you to get wet. I'll show you how to enjoy the rains to the maximum, ok? Don't worry you won't get wet. You trust me right?"
Sharon nodded.
"Ok then let's go." Swayam said, eagerly. He took Sharon's hand and walked out of the restaurant, a huge black umbrella hanging on his left shoulder.
He immediately opened up the umbrella as soon as they were out. Swayam pulled Sharon towards himself protectively. She was shivering in her sleeveless dress because of the sudden wind.
They crossed the road and joined the large number of people enjoying the rain by the seaside. Sharon grimaced as she spotted a couple making out passionately next to them. She hated PDA to the core. Holding hands and all that was fine but kissing? Ugh.
"Some people need to get a room." She said loudly, looking at them.
Swayam followed her line of sight and chuckled. The couple paid no heed of course. They went on doing what they had to do, with even more zeal.
"Can we sit somewhere else please, I can't stand these people."
"Hahaha, you're going to see the same everywhere you go."
Sharon made a face before sitting on the wet ground. They both huddled up under the umbrella, cozying up under the protection of the large cover.
Suddenly Sharon looked down at the rocks. Her high heels were uneasily dangling, ready to drop down any minute.
She looked at Swayam uneasily.
"Remove the shoes Sharon. Everyone's done that."
Sharon removed her heels and held them in her hand. Swayam did the same. With his shoes though.
Sharon decided to take advantage of the situation. She slowly edged her feet closer to Swayam as they spoke. Soon her left foot was curled around his right foot. He looked at her in surprise but said nothing.
"You know Sharon, I love this place. I have so many memories attached to it. My best memories, in fact."
Sharon just looked at him, waiting for him to go on.
"My mom and I used to come here often and just sit and talk about random things. We never spoke about Dad. He was never around anyway so it didn't make any difference. Those conversations were the highlight of the week for me. We used to discuss every possible thing, apart from studies and stuff. I guess those memories are the only thing I have to hold on to now." He said, letting out a sad sigh.
Sharon couldn't understand the pain of losing a loved one but she empathized with him. She placed her right hand on top of his and squeezed it gently.
"You're lucky Swayam. So lucky that at least you have memories that you can look back on and smile. I've never ever got to spend time like this with either of my parents. They're too busy in their own world. You were wondering why I've never come here during the monsoons na? Well, it's 'coz no one ever wanted to get me here and spend some time with me. And it's still the same. I guess it's too late now."
Swayam couldn't see Sharon looking so dejected.
"It's never too late for anything Sharon? So what if you couldn't come here with your parents? You have me!" He said, cupping her face. He realized, too late, that he had let go of the umbrella.
"Eeeks" Sharon screamed as the fast rain drops drenched her. Swayam jumped up and ran behind the umbrella, struggling to catch it. He caught it after a good chase and turned back, praying Sharon wouldn't kill him there and then.
She was staring at him, glaring rather. She was wet, getting wetter by the minute. Swayam couldn't help but laugh when he looked at her. She looked so funny but cute at the same time.
Sharon looked down at herself and then back at Swayam. She burst into laughter. Swayam stared at her in shock she laughed.
"Sharon, are you alright?"
"Yes! And you're right this is fun!" She said, twirling around excitedly.
Swayam rushed to where she was standing and held the umbrella over her head.
"Don't worry you won't get wet" Sharon teased Swayam, imitating him.
Swayam chuckled, embarrassed. "But I also said you will enjoy yourself. Aren't you?" Swayam asked, grinning from ear to ear.
Sharon conceded defeat and nodded, blushing.
"Wait I know what would be more fun!" Swayam looked around wildly until he spotted what he was looking for. A local "chaiwala" was giving hot tea to all those people having fun getting drenched in the rain.
Swayam handed the umbrella to Sharon and ran over to get tea for them. He brought back the steaming hot cups and handed one over to Sharon.
"Are you sure? The water might not-"
"Sharon." Swayam said firmly.
Sharon looked up at him meekly and took a sip out of her tea. She grimaced in anticipation of the horrid taste but was genuinely surprised when she realized how nice it tasted.
"I told you" Swayam said, winking at her, without even waiting for her to say anything.
She laughed and hugged him playfully. The rain had now been reduced to a slight drizzle and the umbrella had been safely kept away.
"I think we might need the umbrella." Sharon said
"Why? I don't think it is going to rain now."
"Not for the rain silly."
"Then?"
"For this." Sharon opened up the umbrella and held it over their heads, concealing them from everyone except the vast sea. She planted a kiss on Swayam's lips. As if out of sheer happiness, the waves crashed loudly against the rocks at the same thing.
Swayam's eyebrows went flying up but he didn't mind what she was doing one bit. "Sharon'PDA?"
"Well, sometimes PDA is not so bad either." Sharon said, blushing."Thank you for showing me how to enjoy the little things of life."
"Maybe now this can go down as one of your memories, right?"
"Definitely!" Sharon said happily, hugging Swayam once again.
