The music of Rang De Basanti has topped the charts since early this year. So it's no surprise that NDTV viewers have voted Masti ki paathshala as the song of the year.
And the song's composer AR Rahman accepted the award with characteristic modesty.
"I am happy. When I composed it, I just told Rakyesh that this is what I want," said AR Rahman.
Rahman is presently in Delhi for the launch of a video Pray for me brother, a joint enterprise of the AR Rahman foundation and a mobile phone company.
With three songs shortlisted for the Academy Awards, Rahman seemed rather upbeat, and he is also waiting for the opening of the stage adaptation of the Lord of the Rings, as he has composed the sound track for it.
"I am turning 40. They say things look up when you are 40," said Rahman. With so much to look forward to, the new year is sure to be a happy one for the composer.
