It was already 11:30 but it did not appear that Mohan Bhatnagar was really in a mood to leave his bed. Sun was hung high up in the sky and its rays were splayed on his face. He frowned turning his face into pillow and tossing on the bed, desperately trying to cling on to the last fragments but the harder Mohan tried, harder sun shone, it seemed.
And the sun won...
'Its going to be a long day' Mohan groaned glaring at the sun
Mohan rubbed his eyes to wipe off the last traces of his not so sweet slumber and scanned the room hoping to find his wife at some corner of this large room but she was nowhere in tracks.
Arranging a beautiful surprise to shock your wife with pleasure and then forgetting it himself and justifying it saying that it was just a matter of 3 hours was not a really smart move, concluded Mohan
Megha stormed into the house.
'Megha...Megha...Megha' Mohan was close behind her.
'I don't want to talk to you' she screamed back
'Darling, I did not mean that, its just that I was caught up in work that this thing just slipped' he reasoned
Hearing this she hurled the clutch towards his direction which she was holding. Mohan ducked it and in process dropping the ring box that had her ring and bouquet of white lilies that he had bought for her.
Angrily she went to the kitchen area to treat herself with atleast a glass of water after long, tiring 3 hours of wait.
'How could you Mohan?? how could you?' she was fighting back the fresh flow of tears that brimmed up.
'Megha I said I am really sorry' he gave an apologetic look
But Megha took no heed of his words and went silent. Just then when Mohan thought to steal a moment to make her forgive him, he saw all plates, glasses, antiques and vases from the kitchen and dining area in his way. She was now throwing everything from the dining and kitchen area.
'Not this time...simply not'
'I am not staying with you' she announced and slammed the door of visitors room on his face
He knew it was her hormones talking..
He mentally smacked himself for being so forgetful. It was their anniversary.
'Never makes your wife to wait for 3 hours not when she is pregnant. Consequences can be catastrophic'
he gently massaged his right shoulder where the bowl had hit, he couldn't escape it.
Impassively he went to their room and sat on bed thinking how elated Megha was for their anniversary considering this would have been their last anniversary together. From coming years they would be welcoming this day with a third member to their family.
And he spoiled it, he hit the bed and hid his face in the cushions. He was guilt ridden, he did mistake and he knows it.
Complete night he was just turning and tossing on the mattress thinking all sorts of wild and weird ideas to brace her up.
Still perplexed he dawdled to the hall. Megha was standing in kitchen cooking something, leaning against the door frame he chose to take a moment out to admire the beauty around. Her fuller figure has just beautified her more, making more glorious than ever. And a deep sense of respect and adoration formed, she has accustomed everything just to give a life to their love. He had been part of her morning sickness, she couldn't sleep or eat but it never bothered her, every time she would get agitated she just places her hand on her stomach to feel the baby and all hr anxiety would wipe out.
And in another 4 months they would be holding their baby, she would bring it enduring every pain just for them..
Mohan never had a father figure in his life, for some reason he and his dad just could never share what a father son shares but he promised himself to be good father who would be with his child at every step.
Mohan was jerked out of his retrospection with the noise of utensils being banged on the platform.
Everything was still lying around the floor, Megha made no attempt to get the house clean. On any other random day no one would have recognized this as Megha Bhatnagar's house.
Mohan could feel the tension and angst in air. Megha hasn't cooled down.
'I did not even close my eyes whole night and he is still in his long, peaceful summer slumber' Megha was furious
A pair of two strong arms circled around her waist.
'Good Morning' his voice was husky
'Good Afternoon' her tone was acerbic
Taking in the meaning behind, he freed her. He did not want another stress, he already was worried about her health.
'Keeper has not mobbed the house yet?' he asked
'Its Sunday, no work for everyone and we both have our turns for the day but well when remembering your own anniversary and that you have kept your wife waiting is difficult for you then this is just the usual thing' she snapped
Trying not to react back
'Alright! So my turn today' he rubbed his hands in glee
'So, sweetheart would you mind helping me...' he was interrupted
'Its your turn'
'Never ask your wife for any sort of help even if it means sitting on the couch instructing and staying in front of husband's eyes when she is antagonized' Mohan mentally jot down
'And anyways I have many other special appointments and commitments today to fulfill'
Saying this she took her handbag and headed to the main door slamming it hard again on his face and leaving Mohan with an untidy house to clean and figuring ways to comfort her. He hates to see tears in her eyes and sad face of hers.
'Its not going to be easy' he sighed
