Gauri was thunderstruck. She looked at Shiv and wished she could vanish into thin air. And ShivâŚwellâŚit would be an understatement to say he was dumbstruck. He just stood there and finally when he looked at Gauri he saw her scared eyes and her face flushing with embarrassment. At first he didn't know what to say and when he opened his mouth to say something he immediately closed it. He finally stammered, "I I I I I should do what?" "The doctor who had been busy taking her things out of her bag and setting them on the bedside table looked up in surprise at Shiv and then at the embarrassed Gauri. Then she remembered Dr. Das Gupta telling her that this was a newly wed couple and that Mr. Kapur might need help and that was why he was sending over a lady doctor. She understood that both of them were uncomfortable with what she had asked of them so she finally said, "It's ok Mr. Kapur. You can wait outside. I'll help Gauri." "No doctor. It's nothing like thatâŚit's just thatâŚ." She cut him off, "Will you please wait outside till I am done?" "Yes, I'll just be outside." He gave one last look to Gauri and left. Once outside, he breathed a sigh of relief, "PhewâŚthat was close!" He sat down on the sofa just outside their room and started reading the business magazine he had brought with him. The doctor's words rang in his head and he got extremely frustrated and tried concentrating on the article again that he was reading but he didn't realize that he was reading or rather pretending to read it upside down. While a jovial waiter, who was in his late fifties to early sixties, was waiting for the elevator and watching him rather closely. He slowly smiled and on purpose started singing, "Kaate nahin kat te ye din ye raat, kehni thi tumse jo dil ki baatâŚlo aaj main kehta hooooonâŚI love youâŚ.I love youâŚ..I love you⌠He looked over at Shiv and đ yes...he winked...
