The battle is raging on toward the leap on Kahaani and right now Parvati Agarwal's biggest antagonist is Rajeshwari Mehra.

History Together
Saakshi and Kiran have worked together before on Sony's Devi. For those who've left the story behind here's a recap. On Devi, Saakshi played a young girl - Gayatri, who was a devotee of the Goddess Durga. She was married off to the evil Vikram, played by Mohnish Behl; Kahaani's ex-Suyash Mehra, who illtreated her and then had her killed. When Gayatri returns from the grave, Vikram believes it is her twin sister Vaishnavi but we later find out that it is actually the Goddess Durga herself who's come to earth for revenge.

Into this mix Sony threw in Aman Varma as Vikram's brother-in-law Vasu who was the Deity's sworn enemy. He collaborates with hired helper Urvashi, played by Kiran Dubey, and dons her as Gayatri in the eyes of the rest of the family. During this time is when Saakshi left the show and her position was filled in by Juhi Parmar who played Kalika, another devotee of the Goddess.

Sterotyped or Not?
Surprisingly enough, during the time Kiran joined the Devi cast she was also playing the role of Karishma on Kyunki and she was a good girl. Kiran has been an actress that has always been able to maintain a certain versatility of character. She has played the good and the bad and very few actors today can claim the right to have done so.

On the other hand, Saakshi has managed to play several roles on one show without being stereotyped as the goody goody bahu. On Kahaani alone she has played the caring mother and the artful dodger. During the time Parvati joined forces with Pallavi she played a negative role. During the time she switched places with Swati Dixit she played a neutral role, so on and so forth. So it's clear that both these actors are skilled professionals.

Chemistry on Kahaani
The longstanding viewers of Kahaani may have noticed that on Tuesday's episode we all saw something that had been missing on Kahaani for a long time. In the past when Saakshi Tanwar played her character side by side with Shweta Kawaatra as Pallavi, their onscreen chemistry was like snakes spitting venom. It used to be so intense and so involving. This was somehow lost with Achint Kaur's portrayal of Pallavi.

Where Shweta played a conniving woman who was scorned in the past, Achint plays an evil witch who only has the downfall of Parvati on her mind. There is a difference. Achint's Pallavi cares mostly about her well-being and bringing herself out as the victor all the time, Shweta's Pallavi had genuine feelings for others, like when she threatened and cursed Aryan about hurting Monalika and when she cried over the loss of Krishna.

This missing chemistry was reborn with the conversation between Parvati and Rajeshwari at Suyash's party. The dialogue, the body language, the expression and the delivery put in by each actor brought out an element that had been missing for ages on the show. It's a horrible thought but I do believe that Rajeshwari tops Pallavi as a vamp right now and both Kiran and Saakshi bring out major chemistry when they're on screen together.

Coming Up
The two leading ladies will be battling it on toward the time leap and it's going to be a rollercoaster ride all the way. Tune into KGGK, Monday to Thursday at 10.00 pm on Star Plus.
