No more good lyricists in Bollywood: Saroj Khan

On her maiden visit to the state, Khan said she had heard from many that Bihar is the storehouse of talent and, thus, was here in search of hidden talents. However, she said, luck is also important and it's here that Bihari talents miss a lot. Expressing her angst against the growing fondness for western dance forms among youth, she said it was not a positive sign.

When asked which song she wanted to be filmed again, pat came her reply, 'Dola Re Dola'.

Informing mediapersons about the new 'Bollywood dance' style, she said it is a dance form that can be done on any song and at any time. Talking about the popularity this form has gained worldwide, Khan said she has around 1,200 students at her schools in various countries, including Dubai, the US and Spain. Talking about her rift with director Vishal Bharadwaj over the choreography of a song 'Oye Boy Oye Boy Charlie' from his latest flick 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', she said all the moves and steps were discussed and choreographed in his presence. However, later on, the choreography was scrapped. "In 50 years of my career, none had removed my dance. This is the rarest experience I had," she said and added that she had preserved the letter written by Bharadwaj, informing her about the scrapping of the dance sequence. However, Khan said she would definitely work with Bharadwaj in future, if he approaches her.

However, despite the row and her sudden disappearance from television reality shows, Khan said her career was running smooth and she had already proved her mettle. "I am no more judging reality shows because I hate repeating. In fact, I don't repeat steps even in different dance pieces," she said.

About popular Bollywood songs, she said they were of poor quality as the lyrics were not up to the mark. "Jo acche lyricists thhe woh mar gaye," she said. When asked whom did she find to uphold her legacy, her son Raju Khan was her answer.

She, later on, took charge as the grand jurist of the competition in the presence of art, culture and youth affair minister Sukhda Pandey.
