Mohan's words echoed in Nanhi's mind as she silently cried, looking blankly at herself in the mirror in the washroom. Her lips moved, but words could hardly escape.
Numbly, she wiped off her tears, took out her contact lenses, recycled them, and wore her pink spectacles.
"I need the report now .." Mohan ordered the employee in frustration on phone, and the next moment, he heard a knock at his door.
"Come in .." Mohan said in a bossy tone, and Nanhi obliged.
"Boss, kuch dena tha aap ko .." Nanhi said to Mohan in a weak voice.
Mohan, engrossed in doing some typing work in his laptop, ordered her , "Table pe rakhdo .. Aur haan , woh child kidnapping racket scam wali file laake do mujhe .."
Nanhi nodded, and kept in on the table .. Tears flowed down her cheeks again. She remembered the days of her friendship with Mohan , her Spiderman , her coolest dad. How wrong she thought of him , she thought and sighed ! How couldn't she trust him? She questioned herself ..
Without saying a word, Nanhi took out the file Mohan asked , from the shelf, kept it near his desktop , and left from there ..
An hour passed , and the clock struck 5 pm .. Mohan was about to leave , when he noticed a wooden box kept on his desk .. " Yeh zaroor uss ladki ne rakkha hoga .."
Hurriedly, he took it in his hand, and opened it's lid, and there he got the biggest surprise of his life. His eyes widened , and tears rolled down as he saw the photos of him , Megha, Nanhi and Addu ...
He looked at them one after one , and went down the memory lane, forgetting the world , but he had to be back in reality when he saw a photograph of Megha and the reporter ,working under him , who was wearing the pink specs of his Chawanni .. He was dumbfounded , and covered his face with his palm in speechlessness .. "Nanhi !"
He took few minutes to register the fact he knew just then, in his mind .. He was at loss of words .. Never in his dreams would he had expected to meet HIS Nanhi in this way .. How could not he recognize her? He questioned himself. He had the flashbacks of working with her , and realized that her face always looked upset or painful whenever she was with him. How could not he notice that? He wondered ...
Immediately , he rushed outside to Nanhi's desk , but was disappointed , not to find her there .. He ran outside in the parking lot , and sighed in relief , seeing her scooty .. He looked around in desperation , and finally the idea of calling her stuck his mind ..
As he called her , he heard the phone ringing .. He turned back , only to find her standing before him with tears in her eyes ...
" Aye chawanni .. sunna .. "
"Spiderman .. "
"Tumhe jalebis acchi lagti hai ?" "Bilkul nahi .."
"Spiderman aur meri mummy ki shaadi .."
"Maine naa khajrana mandir mein ek wish maangi thi .. "
" Tu chaahe jitni bhi badi ho jaaye .. mere liye humesha tu chawanni hi rahegi .. Mohan ka promise hai tujhse , ki woh humesha tera Spiderman banke rahega .."
The conversations , the meetings , the laughter, the promises , the hugs etc. - Mohan and Nanhi remembered their golden days as they walked towards each other ..
Nanhi , unable to hold back any longer ,started crying loudly in front of Mohan , who silently was shedding tears with her .. They both continued to cry , looking at each other .. Sheer happiness was clearly shown in their facial expressions ..
Nanhi felt relaxed to have the hate for her Spiderman OUT of her heart , while Mohan was so overwhelmingly joyful to see his Chawanni after so long !
"S - S .." Nanhi was not able to say a word even ..
Mohan , understanding what she was going through , wiped off his tears , and smiled, "Aye Ch--" He paused and took a deep breath .. "Aye Chawanni .. Roti kya hai .."
Nanhi cried more , and pulled him in a tight hug .. Mohan embraced his best friend, his daughter back and sighed , feeling himself the happiest person in the world .. In the midst of sneezing due to sobbing , he said teasingly to cheer her up , "Ladkio ki ek hi problem hai .. Koi kahe ki naa roye toh aur rone lagti hai .. Tu bhi naa .. Chawanni ! "
Nanhi broke in a slight laugh as she moved apart .. "Ab tumhari chawanni 100 rupee ban gayi hai .." she joked , making him laugh .. "Lekin mere liye tu humesha meri Chawanni hi rahegi .." he said in a firm yet loving voice , and wrapped her in his arms again !
