The idea is to express your anguish in a dignified manner without looking like an idiot so that you are taken seriously. When Rajeev does it, people think he overdoes it, and his concerns aren't really addressed. But when Nik does it, everyone agrees, and Imam goes and makes up with him immediately. The comparison, is to reiterate the distinction, nothing more
