thanks for sharing the article...
DABH is a love story but I don't deny there is some saas-bahu element in it...but I don't see anyting wrong in it...No matter how much you try, Indian shows especially mega serials can't 'escape' from showing this element because it's part of our culture...what's the point showing a serial with purely a love story concept when we are seeing it regularly in movies and films?
PS: I also noticed that the TRPs of investigative concept stories hitting high TRPs, so I don't think audience only love saas-bahu drama...if the show is good, people will definitely watch it 😉

hey one tag line for Saas bahu relationship-u can avoid bt can't ignore😃nd moreover if i m not wrong JD himself launched the show "Ek doosre se karte hai pyar hum" with a different comic nd emotional touch nd later on it turned to a same old saas bahu saga nd the show is going off air now so only saas bahu saga is not enough for a show to run succesfully😛

DABH is a saas bahu drama but its not typical like other shows where the saas necessarily hates or loves way too much.or there are stupid planning going on to separate the leads by a weird looking vamp.there is also no thousand camera angle sequences or highly dramatic background score.

DABH is easily the most well crafted show running in Indian Television.

@tuhiana: Yes, the whole interview is about why his shows are not doing well as expected.

Thanks for sharing the article, b2011.

I tend to agree with the article, I am afraid...

Saas-bahu relationship is extremely important particularly in combined families, no doubt, but as mentioned in the article, the focus of DABH is meant to be how Sandhya achieves her dream by overcoming many obstacles (not jutst opposition from Saas) in a conservative society while handling other domestic responsibilities.

The saas-factor is only one of the difficulties that Sandhya need to overcome in achieving her dream. But of late that has become the sole focus. I am hoping this focus shifts to other factors in coming episodes - only then it can be truly inspire women in similar situations.

Sorry for disagreeing with some of you, but this is from my heart!😳

Thanks for sharing this article Bharati -

I think Dabh is set in a rural setting in a regular family with parents and 4 siblings and 2 of the older siblings being married and they all live together in a joint family.

It is the reality of the situation but not the theme of the story. The story concept is very unusual and that is why the audience is accepting it because Saas-bahu angle is very much integrated with the theme and story.

How can they show an under educated man going against his family and fighting against several odds to fulfil his wife's extraordinary dream of becoming a Police officer??? without showing Saas-bahu relationship also...
