Re: debate...I didn't watch it live cuz I was in class...just caught a few snippets towards the end including Obama's zinger about how the Navy has changed since 1916😆...whatever I caught of CNN in b/w they were saying Obama won the debate...anyways by this point I've anyways head EVERYTHING I had to from both these candidates...echoing Jon Stewart here, for the love of God, just get this over with now😆
LOL@ a long comment regarding MB from me...haha trust me, even I'm surprised😆...I think yesterday was probably the first episode that felt worth talking about in more detail.

Ditto the bits in bold, you both. Just got done watching the episode, and MB, for all its inevitable imperfections as Nur mentioned, is written better. To me personally, even the actors in comparison are better, even if they're no triumphs generally speaking.I think what makes the writing better - apart from the darker/greyer semblance to its storyline - is a better sense of balance. Despite their own share of redundancy and melodrama, MB still maintains relatively better perspective, and RK's character in particular represents the bitterness of a past in a more credible manner. He has his more than occasional bouts of attitude, over-lord-liness, temper tantrums, imposing demeanor - but to me his vulnerability balances out the "outside facades" better. For one, the writers have actually bothered to put some words into his character, despite his preference to play his personal affairs close to his chest. For another, the occasions when he has divulged his past, have been convincing than contrived. They have somehow been spaced - if not often - at least periodically enough to not give the impression of an annoyingly "suspenseful" dry spell about why he is such a jack ass. Like Nur said, their focus on conversations is better, the "hawtness" and "eye locks" lesser, and over all I'd say the justification to his character, justification and not redemption, is better handled. Very well said, Jzee...I completely agree...see one doesn't ask for much from any kind of story other than CREDIBILITY but apparently in today's times even that is too much to ask...so keeping in that in mind, I'm both surprised and slightly grateful that MB does make some efforts in atleast WRITING out the layers in the characters, like you said, putting WORDS into the characters rather than just expecting them to eyelock their way through everything...in it's own strange way, they have evolved the bond b/w the characters from the hatred b/w them, to the catalysts that have made them behave a certain way each time.
IPK is just more fluff...when they have nothing else, they just show Khushi making jalebis or a CT-Jalebia trip-catch/eyelock.
Not saying MB is totally without such elements but compared to IPK/Geet etc. kind of stuff, it's not a BARRAGE one after the other...they space things out, like you said...as of now atleast...ofcourse the inevitable saas-bahu touches are off-putting too.
Like you said, they have bothered to give RK some kind of credible backstory, motivations for the way he is...I could never buy into any of the motivations or whatever they were for the characters in IPK.I liked the bedroom scene especially, for how he extends a hand to wipe her tears, doesn't, then launches into a story of his past while handing her a kerchief. A story that further relates well with his characteristic nature of combating a depressing, wounded past. The combination of his actions in reaction to her tears, and then the story, are a balanced and evident enough representation of his nature. The part of him which won't just melt like a puddle at the sight of her tears, but will, given the status of their bond by now, not simply pretend to be all ice and no concern about it either. He has his own way of "addressing" their moments, especially those which bring concern or vulnerability in him, and I like the kind of average balance they draw in for his character at those points. Retaining elements shaped by his scarred past, but not going overboard with it. Ditto...you say it much better than any of us could have...lol...honestly the scene had a GRAPH...that is why I liked it...from the beginning bit with him extending that hand to wipe her tears almost subconsciously to her opening her eyes, that shared look, the turning away and him finally not being able to stand it and finding his own way to console her...from the tissue to the story about his father and Madhu understanding that this was his own strange way of consoling her and thanking her in a roundabout way😆...that is what I liked about this scene...RK is a strange, strange character but the eccentricities are well written...they don't play act at writing "dark/brooding" characters, they've actually managed to write some compelling stuff compared to the rest of the 4 Lions characters which are so one-dimensional. The fact that they bond in their own strange, tentative way is also another thing I liked about these moments.
The new song jars a bit though😆
The "ehsaan" comment from him reminded me of the scene where she'd saved him from the faulty equipment at the shoot and his in character kambakht ehsaan kar gayi dialogue! 😆 Haha he HATES that she's being nice to him, caring for him😆...he so resents it cuz that shakes his own foundations for pulling his big bad wolf act on her...lol...I liked the sarcasm with which he said thatAnyway, so why is Maalik attacking him now? Just in vengeance, or to release Madhu? Does he not know of all her endeavors to save RK? 🤔 Didn't realize the man had a violent streak in him, but I guess I haven't really seen much of him focusing on MB more or less. Deepali is such a typical vamp. I think it's quite likely that she will be the one to find out about Maalik's involvement and try to get back into the game again... LOL Maalik only recently recovered from his own bout in the hospital I think and all he knows is that RK forced Madhu to marry him for the whole 40 lakhs deal and he thinks RK is torturing his daughter and stuff so he probably figures killing the guy would FREE his daughter😆...this is all just me speculating...I don't really watch the family scenes from Madhu's side much to really know those family dynamics😆
Madhu's recent mahaan patni-vrata side has escaped Maalik's notice I guess😆...she's only confided to her mother about her motivations in that sense and Mommy dearest has ofcourse praised her for her mahaanta😆
Have you seen this scene that aired about a month back?...right before the Ganpati pooja track started...this was an amusing one😆
