Lost and Found
The first bite of Jealousy. A fight. A kiss as unexpected as a summer storm. He was thunderstruck.
An apology. A thank you. A kiss as soft as a butterfly's wings. No challenges, no fights, he didn't even ask for it. And oh! was he pleasantly surprised!
As she goes to kiss him again, Buaji calls them. She turns to go, he holds her back. He doesn't let her go.
'Finish what you started,' he seems to say.
The first time, she hadn't finished what she'd started. She'd covered it up as an answer to a challenge. He'd held her against a door. She'd run off scared! This time too, she tries to run away. Last time he'd let her go.
This time he tells her - If I let your hand go, I'll never hold it again.
No he wouldn't. He'd let her go once, only to see her fall safely on a pile of boxes in his office. He'd let her go again - when the kidnappers would have taken her alive. He'd die before he let go of her, again. The only thing that can come between them now is death. He has held this hand, and vowed to hold it all his life. He is that sure of his love for her.
She is scared at what he says, because she understands. The only way he'd every let go is for life. The thought of losing him, even as he stands in front of her eyes, is too much for her.
I don't like these kinds of jokes. Did you understand? Never say that again.
He apologizes - three times, and holds her close. She's in her safe haven. So lost is she in his arms, she doesn't hear Buaji calling her a second time.
At the door, he calls her back.
Thanks for returning my sister to me. But the price we have to pay is that Shyam is back. And you know I dont trust him. I don't trust him around you and I don't trust him around my sister. She knows that very well.
I promise you - you and I...

Always.
This, to me, was a scene worth watching a hundred times. They finish each other's thoughts. Love is new and love is wonderful and forever seems so far away. The conversation carries on from the earlier one upstairs. She has been justified in being angry and he knows why. Now she knows why he was justified in being angry with her. Letting Shyam in was like death knocking on the door. They have both been witness to his evil ways. They both know what he is capable of. But they also know that they have no choice in the matter now. It is done.
However, no matter how big the quarrel - they are not letting go of each other. You and I were made for each other and we'll always be together. This is his promise to her and hers to him. Until death do us part.
Fruits and Nuts
Meanwhile, his sister is still enjoying the fruits of their first quarrel. Shyam is feeding her, again with his lies and the words he knows she wants to hear. They are both patting themselves on their back that THEY are responsible for Arnav's marriage coming back on track.
He echoes Arnav's words. Khushi and Arnav are made for each other. She is so happy that he feels the way they all do.
He is even happier that he will get to attend their wedding. Because he is going to do all he can to stop the wedding anyways! Keeping Arnav and Khushi apart has been his motive for coming to Shantivan.
Dadi comes in to tell Shyam that she needs to talk to him.
The Scarlet and the Black
Arnav walks up the stairs with a - let's be honest - completely silly grin on his face. And sees Shyam enter Dadi's room. He knows that Shyam has brought Dadi back into their lives. He knows that Shyam is the one who has told Dadi lies about Khushi. 'What you told me about this girl, I feel that whatever is happening here is not right. I don't like Khushi at all. ...'
Now he listens as Dadi continues:
'...There must be a way to stop this mistake... Now you tell me the solution to fix this mistake.'
Dadi, poor gullible Dadi - is now part of the nexus of evil. She wants to do whatever she can to break Arnav and Khushi. To her, Arnav is making the same 'mistake' as his father. She does not see Arnav over Shyam's shoulder.
Dadi with two men standing at her shoulders.
One in black. The grandson she should have trusted. The one who is a blood relation. The one who stands outside the door - out of her life. One who has been stopped from becoming exactly like her, by the one person she cannot stand in the house. She has defiled the relationship with her grandson. Without asking for or understanding the facts, she has become judge and jury. But for execution she will need the help of the other one.
The one in red. The grandson-in-law she should never have trusted. It is safe to assume that Shyam told her about Khushi's 'loose moral values'. It is also safe to assume, that she thinks she is the person in charge in this pathetic relationship she has with her grandson-in-law. A person who she knows at best, by the tales he told her. Her ignorance is no excuse for her stupidity - but then she has been played very well by a very shatir dimaag! Hopefully, Dadi will live to regret it.
Shyam spots Arnav and changes his tune. He tells Dadi how he wants to make everything okay and wants to change himself for the better (Does he now accept that he was not good previously?). She looks disappointedly at him. As Arnav goes away, he tells her why he was suddenly so different, and how he would do everything to help out.
Shyam is in a conundrum - whether he likes it or not. Dadi is a relentless person, she will nag at him to do what she thinks is right. On the other hand, to keep the RM-waasis confidence, he must help Anjali get Khushi and Arnav married. It will perhaps be the past that will give him the break he is looking for.
As Arnav walks away, he looks thoughtful. Did he buy Shyam's repentant act? Or is he worried that Dadi and Shyam are cooking up another brew altogether?
Liar! Liar! Pants on Fire!
Khushi is worried that her mehendi color is not deep enough. Although Buaji and Garima both tell her its deep enough, she is not convinced. To her, the faded color on her mehendi is proof that her Laad Governor doesn't love her.
He wakes up in the morning, a smile on his face. One more day, and Khushi will be home finally. They are in the home stretch of the million and one rasams to getting married. but his smile is wiped out as soon as he realizes his ring is missing. He is searching for it when Mami, Nk and Anjali come in. They ask him what he's searching for and he says 'Haan ..woh...Khushi..'
A peep into the past, here.
A ring was lost. Khushi searched high and low for it. Arnav found it. He gave it to her, it wouldn't go on her finger, because he had already put his stamp on it. He took it from her, and started to put it on her finger, till she told him no. It was her engagement ring. He was stunned. Dropped the ring. Anjali found it and gave it back to Khushi, putting it on her finger while a shattered Arnav stood helplessly aside. It was the start of the farq padta hai track.
Very interesting. He was skeptical when Khushi told him that once the rings are exchanged, they become each others for ever. Yet now, when the ring is lost - he doesn't say the ring is lost - he says 'Khushi' - as if he's lost her! Luckily for him, and once more for us, Anjali finds her - I mean, the ring - for him.
I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
Anjali tells them that the Haldi would be at Khushi's place. His smile says it all. Yes, I get to see her and soon. How much the pangs of separation are hurting this man.
Meanwhile, Khushi comes out dressed Shantiniketan style - flower jewelry and white sari, looking like someone's dream come true. The Raizadas arrive for the haldi, Arnav walking in later hears how Khushi would marry Salman if he has such an issue with getting married. Some cute nok-jhoks happen, including him walking into the bedroom for some quality time with wifey/wife-to-be. Soon it concludes with a stunning statement.
'If you really loved me so much, my mehendi would have been darker. You don't love me. Liar!'
He pulls her close and says 'Don't you dare talk to me like that again.' Followed by the dialogue of the day.
'Mere Pyaar ko Kisi Saboot ki Zaroorat nahin hai.' My love does not need any proof.
This was an episode bookended by two statements from Arnav Singh Raizada that must have left a lot of people scratching their heads.
'Ek baar agar main tumhara haath chod diya, toh nahin pakdoonga'.
In-between, an affirmation of love.
'Khushi, I promise you, tum aur main... hamesha... always'
Followed strangely by Khushi's accusation of him not being in love with her. That he lied about being in love with her. Why? Just because the mehendi was pheeka?
And finally his affirmation once again:
'Mere Pyaar ko kisi saboot ki zaroorat nahin hai.'
If I have to let you go to prove my love, then I will never hold you again.
