Maybe this was all a story that had been conjured up. To protect her son's dignity, Dadi decided to blame a blameless woman (Garima) for her son's womanising. Pinning the blame on one woman, confronting Arnav's mum about it & leading her to commit suicide. Can't help but draw parallels between this and my analysis where I referred to history repeating (only rather than Khushi's mum, Garima is the one being accused like Khushi, yet Arnav's parents are still in Anjali and Shyam's positions).

No Garima did not marry Shashi until after Khushi was over 8 so that would put Payal somewhere at 10
