Mandy : The shock displayed by the family at ASR walking up the mandir steps definitely surprised me but your take on it makes complete sense to me.

Priyanka : I try my best to overlook all the yo-yoing of Anjali's characterization by trying to imagine that she's desperately holding on to her fantasy world no matter what. It helps me from getting majorly frustrated when Anjali does crazy and bipolar stuff, something that she does practically every episode.

Here are some random musings on the whole TRP mess and the show's inconsistency. I have to admit I don't know much about how TRPs are measured or how the mechanics of a soap work in India ' so do take it with a pinch of salt 😊

IPK finds itself caught in an unusual scenario ' a perfect Hobson's choice (if such an expression even exists) for a hindi soap. To go all out for the TRPs or not! If they go all out for the TRPs, a lot of people like me and I presume a huge section of the hangout will not recognize the show anymore and will feel alienated. On the other hand, if they stick to their stance of being different and sticking to their subtle and beautiful story telling without loud and unnecessary drama, the TRPs will continue to go down. Right now, the show seems to want to play it safe by adding some elements for TRPs while trying to stay true to the original show ' with the result that the original audience is left bemoaning the loss of the their beloved show while the TRPs continue their steady slide.

This is one situation where the show cannot have its cake and eat it too. It will have to make a decision either way or end up losing out on both ' I don't know enough about the soap world to understand whether making this decision is even up to the PH or not.

The bigger question is why did the first 9 months bring such high TRPs for the show.

I got introduced to the show during the last week of March and was very surprised to find out that the show had managed to scale the top ten list during its run. I've seen very brief in-passing glimpses of other hindi soaps and this one actually getting high TRPs completely stumped me. I guess, in hindsight, the raw chemistry between the leads, the fabulous acting and unfolding of a beautiful love story between two such unlikely people held the TRP audience ' who doesn't love a well told romance ably supported by likable supporting characters. They still added a lot of elements purely for TRPs (all the festival stuff) but the balance was kept just right in order for the TRP element to complement the love story. Now that the love story has kind of culminated for the TRP audience, they will go back to the uncomplicated plots that the other soaps show without hanging around to appreciate that the confession of love is just the start of the love story between two such different, scarred and flawed souls. The show's creators are now left with a gigantic mess that will be very hard for them to fix without being forced to make some tough choices.

Musings - The escaping of Garima continues to be the lamest of excuses. There used to be family photo in GH that was shown earlier with Garima in it, Dadi conveniently did not see this. In this day and age I am sure Dadi can get access to Garima's photo in a minute - logic botwa- we continue to turn a blind eye towards this !!
