RC was just looking at the TRPs of the last few months because analyzing audience reaction is a kind of hobby.
Uptill about four months ago (more or less) the TRPs were steady at three point something and on grander occasions they reached the latter half of three maybe even touching four.
IPK initially had one competitor, the show on Colors. Now it has two with the inclusion of the one of Life Okay. IPK isn't too bad a show, yes it has witnessed some poor acting and screenplay in the past few weeks, but over all a fairly watchable show.
Obviously IPK lost viewers during the GH track and Kidnap track. But now the track is fairly good and far cry better than what it was in January (Before Payaash wedding) which was a highly boring track and yet it had a TRP above 3. Why is that?
Some say 'Sarun' lost chemistry. You can't just loose chemistry- it there or it's not. And Sanaya and Barun have great chemistry- yes they still do.
And the story, although kind of over zealous, is interesting enough. RC wanted to find out what was so great about the other shows? So RC forced herself to watch a few episodes.
Do they have better actors? Hell no.
Do they have a better storyline? Not really.
Are their creatives better? They are all equally good or they are all equally bad. Indian soaps don't really concentrate on the technical aspect of art of acting.
But both the shows are significantly better than IPK in one aspect- The grandeur ie The set, the hype, the costume, the editing.
At the end of the Television appeals to the sense of sight. A great story isn't enough, you need to appeal to this aspect of the viewership.
I mean honestly Santivan looks like a haunted house in need of a major spring clean up.
Barun and Sanaya are the hottest actors on television (no debate here) i thought it was physically impossible to make them look bad. I was proved wrong. Same brown shirt, same red anarkali- I mean it screams indifference. Out of curiosity who are hairstylists of IPK? Fire them ASAP.
The Remarriage is one of the very anticipated tracks of IPK. Everyone wants to be part of Arnav and Khuhsi's wedding.
When you reuse props and costumes it shows indifference. No wonder the audience lost interest. When you show that you've spent money it will automatically quip the curiosity of the audience. This is basic PR skills.
With the half backed apology from Arnav- I'm sorry it didn't strike a chord with me (I understand it's importance and it's essence but as a scene it didn't appeal to me.) The set up for it and their costumes and the lighting were all pathetically horrible.
We here at IF can tell what scenes will make the show better, but to implement it in the grandest way possible lies with the PH alone.
On contrary to popular notion acting and story have very little to do with popularity. Unless the PH upgrades it's set, get better costume designers and hairstylists, actually tries to implement some gimmicks in editing, IPK's TRPs won't go up. Period.
