The rain drops were battling against the car that Arnav Singh Raizada was driving after a long and tiring day at work. He had only one wish, that of getting back home the soonest possible to have a mush deserved rest for a business tycoon like him. The rainy weather had created a foggy atmosphere on the roads, and a gloominess that was coupled by the falling night. Arnav suddenly slowed down at the sight that was offering in front of him - a sight that had the power of diffusing sunshine and warmth around him.
Spinning around, a girl, who looked in her twenties, was extending her hands in the rain, collecting the water drops and throwing them playfully. Dressed in a white Salwar Kameez which was adorned by a pink border, she was truly looking like an angel who was fully enjoying herself in the rain, and smiling profusely. Arnav could not resist staring at her – her bubbly nature, the spark in her eyes, her amusing acts in the rain – so much so that he stopped the car. He did not know what had happened but he just could not remove his eyes from that girl who left a bewitching impact on him.
Arnav had always devoted his life into working hard to meet his family's needs after his parents' death, and consequently, he had missed the little pleasures and moments that define happiness. And when he saw that girl, an overwhelming sensation awakened deep within him - she was the definition of life, the epitome of happiness. He felt the sudden urge of approaching her, asking her what her name was, and even joining her into playing with the raindrops.
His dreamy moment was soon disrupted by a phone call, which caused him to frantically switch off his phone without even looking at the number. By the time he looked back at the girl, she was gone – nowhere to be seen. Arnav dashed out of his car, getting drenched and roamed around to find her but his attempts were vain as it was night and he did not know a single thing about her. Suddenly, his eyes fell on a glittery object that was lying in the same place where she was dancing around and Arnav bent down to lift it up – her payal. He held it tightly in his hand, feeling a weird magnetic connection to it.
Once home, Arnav was scolded by his Anjali Di for being careless and not replying to her phone calls, but Arnav evaded the matter and rushed to his room. Flashbacks of the girl run through his mind at supersonic speed, which only confirmed his resolve at finding her.
"Why I am feeling so strange? Why am I seeing her repeatedly? It is the first time that Arnav Singh Raizada is getting restless for a girl, and that too a girl who came and just vanished without me even knowing her name! My mystery girl!"
The first thing Arnav did the next morning was to rush back to the same place where he had seen his mystery girl, with the hope that she must be living around there. But without any proper information about her, it was difficult to ask about her whereabouts to the neighbourhood. Frustrated at the idea of never ever meeting her again, he went back to his car when he suddenly heard a voice asking time after time:
"Have you seen a payal lying here? It is silvery and has got small stars dangling!!! No?…ok thank you"
With a feeling of hope resurfacing, Arnav turned around and to his biggest joy, found his mystery girl walking and stopping each passer-by. He moved towards her and initiated a conversation:
"Hi…I thought I would never see you again after yesterday!"
Khushi's face showed a sudden glow, and a beaming smile paved its way to her face.
"Hmm Hi…sorry but what do you mean?"
"Woh yesterday, you were here playing in the rain…and…"
"You came here yesterday? You saw me?"
"Before continuing any further, let me introduce myself first! I am…" Arnav said before being interrupted by the mystery girl
"Arnav Singh Raizada!" she uttered with confidence.
"Right, but how do you know my name?" asked Arnav.
She just smiled and ran as quickly as possible.
Arnav was left dumbfounded at the speed at which she had fled – she had once again vanished in thin air. This only deepened his thought of calling her 'Mystery Girl'. What annoyed him the most was that he did not even know the name of her mystery girl! He could not even give her back her payal! How come does she know my name, he thought, but then immediately guessed that she must have seen him in the business news.
