We worry because of morons and young, impressionable girls who watch this show who will later think that being pushed around and abused by their husbands is perfectly fine and romantic.

I weep for the world we live in where defending a woman's rights to be loved and properly cared for is frowned upon by other women.

Just because Khushi is shown as an all-accepting, all-forgiving saint doesn't mean she's doing the right thing. And just because Arnav used to look so attractive I myself admit to starting to watch the show PURELY because of him, it doesn't give him any right whatsoever to be a complete arsehole.

Arisai , my friend, This is exactly what I try to convey but unfortunately I have been called a " preaching w@#$% " by some 14 year olds.
I try to talk sense and I am reported for bashing.
For young and impressionable girls it is very important to understand the thin line between fiction and reality.
You have mirrored my thoughts very well.
Thankyou for making this post .

Thinking Arnav and Khushi have a romantic relationship is fine. Wanting to kill your husband because he's too kind and sweet and doesn't shove you around like a ragdoll is not.

Watching the show for Barun is fine. Pausing when his face is on-screen so you can kiss it is not.

Not caring about the deeper meanings of the show is fine. But blindly accepting the show's ridiculous logic (or rather, lack of it) is not.

---
Everything you described is the behaviour of a fan, not a fangurl. I've never criticised fans- by being on IF I think I've proven myself as a fan. By writing FFs on the characters, I've proven myself as more than that.

But fangurling- the INSANE fangurling and wailing at the Shrine of Sobti that I see on here is ridiculous, irrational and sometimes I wonder if these people are actually even REAL or just Moronbots trolling the internet. Gutter posts don't make me laugh- I don't find crass or obvious humour (if it can even be called that) funny. I prefer sarcasm, wit and clever wordplay- things that require effort and an innate, brilliant sense of humour as opposed to just a mind that needs a thorough rinsing with Mr Muscle.

I swear, some of the absolute shit that I've seen on here makes me wish there was a Mod specifically to go through and close things for excessive levels of idiocy.

But there is also the other side. The taking everything to an extreme side. Calling ASR a Rapist, his relationship with sister as incest and etc etc. It takes away the fun of watching the show. All the over analyzing and nit picking. I am not saying you can't do it. But that too is going over board.

Hey...

I admire your attempt to play Devil's Advocate. But sincerely, I feel the question raised is a "blanket approach"/ "tarring all with the same brush" kind of thing which is not really accurate.

I'll put it this way- There is nothing I have against any fans of Barun Sobti the actor, or Arnav the fictional character. I get that many fans will be smitten with Barun/ Arnav in various degrees.

What I have an issue with, is a section of fans (and I believe it is only a section), questioning and harrying others for expressing an honest & constructive opinion on the plot/ direction/ screenplay/ characterization on the show.

This section of fans seems to have very rigid criteria on what it means to be a 'fan'. They seem to think that you are one, only if you heap praise for every single episode, and that you are a 'basher' if you express any critique, hoping for an improvement.

This doesn't make any sense to me. A healthy discussion is part of any forum, and those who love the show, should have the right to outline what they feel is not going right in it, as well. Poor direction, irrational plot twists, needless side tracks and inconsistent character development need to be called out.

Say you are a working professional who has a fantastic personal equation with your Boss. Should that preclude your Boss having the right to appraise your less than stellar performance? If your performance dips for whatever reason, does your Boss automatically become a 'Monster'/ 'Basher'/ 'Hater' if he draws your attention to what you are doing wrong? And tells you clearly, what changes he/ she would like to see to have you improve?

I guess, that all of us who are working professionals face this appraisal process? This discussion and critique on the forum is just another version of that-- a performance appraisal of the creative team of the show!

So to sum up, my reply to your question is this--, No, of course not, you are No less of a person by reason of being a Fangirl. But neither is the fan who points out shortcomings in the show, in the hope that the creative team get their act together.
